The Book of the Covenant vs. The Book of the Law?

  • There’s a growing theory among some Messianics (and a group in Hebrew Roots) that the Book of the Covenant and the Book of the Law are 2 different things; that part of the Torah no longer applies today. It’s time to test the pillars of this theory to see if it stands up to Scripture.

Years of going to church was actually preventing me to know the whole truth..em so glad to know the truth before I die..so I can try to keep the word of God and pray for strength to keep God's commandments..God needs to be served with gladness, with love, appreciation, gratitude..not with us always wanting and asking for ourselves..worship with Thanksgiving..this life, no matter how difficult, we were given this privilege to be part of creation..it's pretty awesome ❤️

Completely out of context my brother in Messiah Yeshua as I’m correcting you that Genesis 7 tells about how there were 7 pairs of clean animals and 2 unclean animals. Not two of everything was in the boat. God knows the purpose of these unclean animals and they are scavengers. God put them here to test our loyalty towards Yahweh.

I definitely have been blessed by this teaching. Thank you very much for your service!
I'm studying the Torah for several months now, slowly getting a glimpse of it's logic which differs very much from our Greek influenced logic.
And I appreciate very much you disdaining from dispensationalism which i detect in evangelical eschatology everywhere. Even so among messianic circles.
Perhaps this could be another topic you can pick up: "the day of the lord" in the OT😊

    Shabbat Shalom!!
I heard a similar teaching from a brother that follows Torah and is a strong defender of the Way (including dietary laws and feasts being for us today). He did not include any of these other arguments mentioned in your video but was also in reference to Galatians 3 and just making a distinction between the eternal Covenant vs “The Book of the Law”. These were 2 convincing scriptures in Deuteronomy he used to illustrate this.
““These words the Lord spoke to all your assembly at the mountain out of the midst of the fire, the cloud, and the thick darkness, with a loud voice; and he added no more. And he wrote them on two tablets of stone and gave them to me.”
    ‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭5‬:‭22‬ ‭ESV‬‬
“Moses commanded the Levites who carried the ark of the covenant of the Lord, “Take this Book of the Law and put it by the side of the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God, that it may be there for a witness against you.”
    ‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭31‬:‭25‬-‭26‬ ‭ESV‬‬

This is an old teaching but while watching this time I had the thought in Hebrews it talks about the priesthood and the things on earth being a shadow of the heavenly priesthood and tabernacle. So doesn't that affirm what 119 ministries is saying, the priesthood was given to Aaron and shadows the heavenly.

  • @bmjjjja
    @bmjjjja 8 годин тому +2

It's not the Book of the Law that the NT is addressing when negative comments are given about it. It is the oral law that the NT is addressing when negative comments are given about it. No one in the entire Bible disparages God's law. They disparage and speak negatively about rabbinical law (man-made law).
Your argument that Yah established the priesthood before the golden calf and that means the priesthood was not as a result of the golden calf sin, does not necessarily mean that. Yah put in place a system that would address what was going to happen just like He put in place from creation the very day the Messiah would be born to address sin. He did both before the need even arose. Doesn't Hebrews 7-9 talk about the priesthood being inferior and only a shadow that will soon pass away? What was it a shadow for? Therefore, we can believe the priesthood only pointed to something that was going to happen. Meaning, the priesthood was a foreshadow of what our Messiah would do which was to be a mediator between man and God and to deal with sin. Therefore, logic dictates that sin is the cause of the need of the mediator.......sin is the cause of the need of the priesthood (shadow) and the Messiah (reality).
However, even this understanding does not separate the Book of the Covenant and Book of the Law into two different things therefore allowing people to ignore commands.

4:50 that's close, but incorrect. The "written" law was never intended, so the "book of the covenant" was also a result of disobedience.

  • @Thewatchman303

It is clear the priesthood of Isreal became wickedly corrupt and altered / added to the law of Moses (which is the genuine law of YHVH). This is the universal and consistent message of the Hebrew bible and is affirmed by the consistent teaching of Yeshua. The sacrificial system for the forgiveness of sin is the most obvious example of this. What indeed made John the Baptist so important and how did he prepare the way for the anointed one? He taught people that forgiveness of sins never required anyone to slaughter an animal. Rather a repentant heart, a change of behaviour accompanied by mikvah (baptism) was all that was required.

You people never address the elephant in the room which is why are people when they learn more Torah in much more detail then turn on Saul, because he fails the test of Deuteronomy 13. Peter was not endorsing Saul he was warning about him with feint praise and The Book of Acts is nothing more than a legal document.
