As someone who was born & raised in Myanmar, watching the entirety of this video gives me a chill, goosebumps, sadness & anger, and a loss for words. This video sums up the state of our country. We're way behind in the past under the Military Dictatorship's rule, unlike neighboring countries like India, China, Thailand, and so on are growing, and developed technology-wise, in economy, education, healthcare & everything in general. I could write the whole book out of it and it's just endless to say. Hoping one-day country back to the right people's hand and democracy path where it belongs.

I've visited Myanmar which is an absolutely beautiful country and the people are honest, friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, the vast majority of innocent people of Myanmar have suffered for way too long through no fault of their own. Peace and prosperity to Myanmar people! 🙏🙏🙏

Speaking of the coups in Burma and some others around the world today are totally different from the coups which took place over half a century earlier when newly independent nations, including Burma, just came out of centuries-long Colonialism, bitter and poverty-stricken, turned to a new deal of Social-Democratic system (Socialism/Communism).
- Today's coups, in most cases, are changes in the political system only, while the economic system is mostly left intact. Like I said, today's coups, in nations such as South Korea, the Philippines & Thailand, in most cases, are changes in the political sector only, while the economic/investment sectors are mostly left intact.
- So what is this the fact that the West & their Western news media hardly utter a negative word about coups in Asian nations such as South Korea & the Philippines in the past and Thailand today; and yet the West, Western news media and their affiliates hardly have a day goes by without having negative comments & reactions regarding coup in Myanmar.
May I ask why are they treating it so differently with Myanmar and most of all, what are they up to, what is their truth motives behind all these?

The problems in Burma are actually differences between the National League for Democracy (NLD) party and the rest of the populace. The NLD won an almost landslide victory in the 2015 elections and ruled the country for the first time until 2020. The leader of the party Daw Aung San Suu Kyi was very popular but her government couldn't achieve much in its five- year term. According to many independent poles, the party will surely win the elections in 2020 but it can't win an outright majority to form a government. It seemed that they were unwilling to form a coalition government and tried everything in their power to get a majority. They used many tricks before the elections and all other parties were distressed about that. Many political parties before and after the elections met with the commander-in-chief of the army and asked him to intervene. In the elections the NLD won overwhelmingly getting about 82% of the votes to everybody's astonishment. The parties and the army pointed out the irregularities and asked the Elections Commission but they refused to answer under the order of the President who is vice president of the NLD and who appointed the Commission. The army asked to get answer many times to no avail and decided to get power properly under the constitution when the NLD moved to open a new parliament and form their government. The army arrested the president and NLD leader Daw Aung San Suu Kyi who instructed her followers in a prepared statement to revolt against the military. Since then NLD members started protests in the streets for about two weeks rather peacefully though. When the army didn't budge they changed to violent demonstrations arousing mostly young people and even young children. Slowly the confrontations become between the NLD youth members and the army in the streets and NLD and the rest of the populace in other areas and in social life. However, as a few hundreds of demonstrators were killed in the streets, the world knows only that the army used deadly force against unarmed civilians. The NLD apparatchiks know how to approach international political leaders to get sympathy while the army leaders concentrate on the rule of law and order in the country. Hence most of the world think the disagreement was between the army and the NLD. The truth is the army is only the caretaker for the preservation of democracy at the request of all political parties and the general public except the NLD party.

Divide and conquered, also happened in Germany, Vietnam and so on. Just like what the British Empire did in India and Pakistan. Which almost guarantees wars between those two parts.
Myanmar Kachin separatist group has been working with the British since their last colonialism and now the US is taking that role through a proxy war for regime change through voice America by supplying the rebels with assault rifles to carry out terrorists attack on Myanmar passengers trains , police stations, schools etc.

Today the 42nd ASEAN Summit has been hold in Indonesia, and this issue is one of the main discussion. Hope after this big event we will get the best solution for our fellows in Myanmar. As an Indonesian, it's heartbreaking for me that I haven't heard any good news about myanmar at least in these past 2 years or so.
The hardest part is ASEAN rules if am not wrong says that foreign countries internal affairs cannot be directly involved in

I did so much diplomatic work there when the country was still known as Burma and it's a shame how quickly things fell apart in Rakhine, throwing everything into chaos. Myanmar is a clear example of why you do things based on trust or at the very least respect or don't do things at all.

This is insanely interesting, rarely we get an in depth view of military governments that are often very seclusive and illusive, specially one that has been in power for so long that and has developed a complex system of its own, rooting itself into the country's political structure and power dynamics. Even more interesting is being able to see all of this from the PoV of those directly involved in all sides.
If you truly believe this is inclusive to all side that are directly involve in this conflict that lead up to the current event we have now, I wish you to watch documentary that is separate on their own that cover all side of the conflict on each own. In my pfp it's a picture of me as a 3 yrld and this was taken in Yangon. My family came to the US and I am now 21 attending uni. Today I have been just watching videos back to back on what was happening in Myanmar. I don't know anymore I feel disheartened and just powerless. There is a war going on as well as I type this. We're all just human beings who are born with nothing and will leave this world with nothing. Good must defeat evil as cliché as that sounds it needs to occur all over the world.
Very similar situation here, but I came to the UK and attending uni. ashamed of what the military has done to our country.

One of the senior leaders of the NLD party and he is very respected by most Burmese people called “Bravo!”.

This kind of story is not new to Southeast. Almost all countries had been through this kind of power struggle.
The only difference is, it sticks in Myanmar. The fight is still the same from the 80s up to the present whilst her neighbors started moving on and developed.
I think it's even more tragic because up until the recent coup, it did actually look like Myanmar had changed for the better.
I remember being in Yangon in 2017, and while Myanmar wasn't as developed there was genuine hope among the populace that things are getting better. Seeing all of that hope and progress ripped away was so heartbreaking.
I feel for this woman, a great leader, and I think it would be intellectually dishonest to condemn her as a collaborator in genocide. How much power did she really hold that could be so totally removed in the 2021 coup?!
Thats the thing about this, she had no power during this genocide. It was literally the military and still the military the continues to hold power. To trail her as a collaborator is like condemning victims of kidnaping to be trailed along with their kidnappers. Its blatant on how these government officials talk, around 28:00 he literally talks about the jealousy that she holds emotional power from the people and the military doesn't. Lmao I wonder why, not like the military's been on a terror rampage for as long as anyone can remember. I feel so sad for her, she was the biggest hope for Burma, the people loved her.
@@jerichot6616 I used to work for a research think tank back in Myanmar before the coup and I was talking to this retired British civil servant, who was serving as an advisor and he basically said that the main thing was Myanmar's public relations was very weak and all these other officials, journalists, rights groups and foreign governments just took advantage of it to pile everything on her. The whole thing was pretty much a trap created by the military to destroy her reputation. My grandfather, who used to be a captain in the army before he resigned due to the 1988 coup, calls it "political landmines" to sabotage any future governments. The Rohingya crisis, drug lords in the Shan State, the ultranationalists, they had some role in laying the foundation for these issues. Many ex-soldiers and those who have defected and became PDFs usually say the only thing these guys ever understood was the point of a sword.

Daw Aung San Suu Kyi has been a big thorn in the side for the Tatmadaw (Myanmar armed forces) when her party managed to make her the de facto leader of the government by creating the post 'state counsellor' which overshadowed the presidential post. That was what the military-drawn constitution was designed to prevent her to become the president. Tatmadaw has viewed that as it was out maneuvered politically. It's been intent to remove her from the power even since.
That's one of the main reasons the 2011 February coup took place.
As a Myanmar Citizen, we won't give up againsting sinistrous military tyrant and their fellows until they eventually kneel down to our Mother of Democracy, Aung San Su Kyi.

The significant mistake made by Aung San Suu Kyi was agreeing to a dangerous and somewhat unstable alliance with the military and she soon paid a high price for it with another harsher imprisonment term when she failed to discover that as time passed, her authority was becoming increasingly limited and ultimately devoid of until it was too late. This was the final nail in the coffin for Myanmar's experimental democracy when the military officers whom she naively believed could be appeased were plotting a coup d'etat to overthrow her which they eventually succeeded. The plan was kept under cloak and dagger behind the scenes and she could not see the warning signs appearing in the subsequent years. Consequently, when the General Min decided to launch his coup, she was absolutely caught with her trousers down. However, all of this could have been avoided, if Aung San Suu Kyi had not been hesitant and reluctant to resist the military officers let alone attempting to negotiate with them. It clearly shows just how much wisdom and political will she is lacking due to her background of being the daughter of a military leader who was the brainchild of the country's military totalitarian regime. It all goes to show that, she to a certain extent supported many aspects of totalitarianism which was confirmed by many of her former and closes advisors, many of whom are currently incarcerated or in exiled, some had even perished under the brutal military regime. They warned that Aung San Suu Kyi possessed an authoritarian ego which did not allowed her to admit failures and mitigate them with solutions, instead she would rather isolate herself and divert the blame to others. Indeed, according to one senior political observer, "She should have stay as a moral leader."
She did all the best things she could. We hoped for the best for our country. We are victims including her. Why you accused of us being victims. The Dictators and military are the worst people you ever seen. Please support our revolution and we will fight to the end. Justice must reveal.
@@wuityilwin6949 I am not against the democratic revolution but I am very concerned about Aung San Suu Kyi's tolerance and relationship with the military dictators despite all the evils they have done in the past. It is a mistake for Ms Suu Kyi to form an alliance with these murderers, knowing pretty well, they will never accept her as president let alone acknowledge her policies. Even her closest associates revealed that she was not willing to take risks to reduce and dismantle the authoritarian power of the military. Think about it, why would Ms Suu Kyi need assurances from the military if the people of Myanmar are the ones who hold the right and power of endorsement?

Rohingya genocide isn't the only genocide occuring around the world in 21st century. I understand general hatred on Myanmar from muslims around the globe due to radical islamism, media bias al-jazeera(a media weaponized by al-thani regime to topple governments and create proxy conflicts). But to clarify the issue you shouldn't blame all the civillians for this tragedy. Islamic governments around the world committed several atrocities and genocides similar to the rohingya crisis such as hazara genocide, assyrian genocide, armenian genocide, coptic persecution etc.(many countless atrocities unmentioned), Bangladesh alone is responsible for the chakma genocide and total expulsion of 92% of chakmas from the chittagong coast to seek refugee in the chittagong hill tracks. Nowadays what people tend to do is to innocentize rohingyas as much as they can and devilize Myanmar. what i say is both parties are not innocent, rohingya radicals and militias triggered the issue at the first place by several agendas burning monks in mosques and kidnapping local population what later followed by terrorist attacks on police stations. Do you think ultranationalist mobs and riots appear and hate rohingyas for no reason? I don't support the tatmadaw nor the rohingya militias but in general we need to revisit this issue and manage a seperate settlement for rohingyas and the native arakanese in certain areas along their original settlements near bangladesh border, that is the quickest possible solution. Most people in myanmar aren't islamophobic as al-jazeera tells you only radical buddhists and ultranationalists group which support the junta in general are islamophobic(they only represent a fraction of all burmese people). As Mufti of syria visiting the issue noted "Why mosques in arakan state are destroyed but not the ones in the country's capital and other cities? because the one in arakan is in a warzone but the other mosques are still standing and healthy".
