    This is my favorite book of all! The stealing of the artifacts from Letos keep and the deciphering of the journals gives us such an insight into what Leto was doing. Love it

    The plot of 'God Emperor' sure has that Shakespearean vibes. One of the reasons this was my favorite book in the series.

      Everything you could possibly imagine about this book is EVEN MORE weird than you could possibly think it is. I don't know how it's possible, but most of that book was me sitting around with a hige grin on my fave going "what in the actual fuck is going on right now?" Frank Herbert is really good at explaining the weird in pretty vivid detail

      That's a tough one... Heretics was the one I struggled with the most, and I had to force myself to finish it, so after ending God Emperor on a high I'd lost some interest by the end of book 5. I am one of the very few who enjoyed Sandworms of Dune though, it was very satisfying the way it all came together in the end. Even taking into account the books I didn't enjoy as much (Hunters was also a struggle), it was still a rewarding reading experience overall. Although, I'm also enjoying the prequel books which everyone else seems to strongly dislike, so...

      @@InternetrandoI think it’s because every single chapter is a philosophical lesson. The way Leto is written. Every single time he opens his disgusting worm mouth. Something deep about life or humanity is expounded upon. It’s like taking a philosophy course with one of the best teachers imaginable.

    I did enjoy this book...Leto got his comeuppance in the end....The tyrant..

    • @hugonorinder7942
      @hugonorinder7942 2 роки тому

      Where he even planned his comeuppance... Where the comeuppance is what releases humanity from its bonds from tyranny and the whims of a single point. Leto II successfully made humans spread across the universe, part invisible to the prescient, part curious to the unknown. He made humanity immune to the long going threat of what prescience is capable of, and how technology could be used. I think that the last enemy in Dune 7 would not be machines from the Butlerian Jihad but Face Dancers free from their masters and capable of being biological artificial intelligence, to which the Ultimate Kwisatz Haderach could be the uniting force for all sentient life in the universe.

    • @misanthropicservitorofmars2116
      @misanthropicservitorofmars2116 Рік тому +7

      The saint? Considering he took humanities sins onto himself. Became a monster who couldn’t even bang the woman he loved. All to save humanity in the long run.
      He got his comeuppance when he and Ganeema tripped on spice after escaping their aunt. He saw what his father saw. Unlike his father, he accepted being a true messiah. One who sacrifices themselves for the benefit of all humanity. Paul never could, he loved too much. Paul loved his father, his mother, Cheni, and the traditional fremen.
      Leto 2 knew love was the biggest weakness. He says so himself in this book. “Love is the death of duty” the greatest line of Game of Thrones. Is true. Leto 2 gave up love for thousands of years for duty. Only love could defeat duty.

    • @revan8795

      Yeah that was started by his death. I believe he said to Duncan and Sinoa while he was dying to let them scatter. Also seems he was getting almost all of his humanity back as the voices tried to drive him mad again. Been awhile but it was such a great series. A shame we didn't get an adaption of it after Children of Dune.

    • @SonofSethoitae

      @@SonofSethoitae exactly. That is how you adapt God Emperor. It's basicly the story of Exodus. With Duncan Idaho leading humanity to the "promise land." Setting up the sequel of heretics. The Honored Matred returning to confront the Bene Gesserit.
