How would you -at this time- compare the combo P2/Idol Pearl to the P2/P3 Combo? How would this comparison play out for a Stroker, 13-15 mph, medium-low RPM, playing on a 42ft medium-heavy pattern? I really like the P2 on the fresh, playing the second arrow (10), from 17-25. (@ foul line) I can't really decide between the P3 and the Idol Pearl. I have thrown an AstroPhysix and for some reason it seems a bit lazy on the back-end for me. My OG HyRoad seems stronger than my Astro of the spot. Looking for the best complement to my P2.
P3 seems like more of a shape compliment to the P2, Idol Pearl is more of a hook potential compliment. P3 is weaker than the P2 of course, but with the difference in shape, they're going to seem closer than they actually are. Idol Pearl is a true step down from the P2. I'm not sure why the Astro would appear lazy, but if it does, that would tell me you probably need more ball, so I'd go P3 instead of Idol Pearl.
im looking to make a new 2 ball arsenal not including a spare ball. im looking for a ball that hooks a lot on oily lanes and a ball that is more predictable and controllable on medium oil average house lanes. I was looking at the Idol pearl for the high powered ball and the rotogrip mvp attitude for the more predictable controllable for when the lanes break down and has less oil. what do you think? thanks love the channel
Idol Pearl isn't very strong, if you're looking for a ball for oily lanes, you're going to want something like a UFO, Axiom, Phaze 2, etc. On the flip side, the Attitude is pretty strong. It's definitely predictable and controllable, but I don't know about for when the lanes break down, probably too strong for that. I'd think more Hustle Ink or maybe Electrify Pearl.
@@LukeRosdahl so on the dryer lane I would use the Electrify Pearl because of the less power and on the more oily lane I would use the phase 2 because of its more power? sorry thanks im still learning
@@vinzo2385 It's not really power, it's about traction. Phaze 2 has a stronger AND sanded surface which acts like snow tires to get through heavier oil, and the Electrify Pearl has a weaker AND polished surface which isn't going to hook as much.
Hi Luke, as always, amazing ball reviews. Definitely one of the clearest and most informative on UA-cam. I've asked a similar question before but haven't had any action on it as my wallet was saying no. Currently have a Physix and an Idol Pearl, with my Idol Pearl typically playing about 5-7 boards right of the Physix. Would this be a better option to diversify my arsenal, or would the Phaze II still be the clear pick? Typically bowl on house, but starting to play more sport patterns with my school. Cheers!!
That’s really tough actually . . I think I’d go with a Phaze 2 first though. If I had to decide between the Phaze 2 and Phaze 3, it’d hurt but I’d have to go Phaze 2, it has the edge on versatility
@@LukeRosdahl Hey, thanks for the reply! I was initially thinking of the P2 at first, but was worried about overlap with my Physix - will I run into any such issue? This P3 release looks rlly rlly good from the newer videos I've seen and its throwing me off a little.
I have both you can't go wrong with either ball I start league night with the P3 and use the Idol on the last game when the lane starts to break down a bit but that P3 is 🔥🔥🔥
Hey Luke, I'm looking for a new ball, currently using a pitch black but get to a point I can't move left anymore and would like something I can throw through the oil that will get down lane, my house shot is a shorter pattern. I'm between the idol pro and phaze II and Phase III. Any advice is appreciated.
@@LukeRosdahl okay I'll take a look at those. I was also thinking about staying urethane and going with the fever pitch. I just don't know if the difference between the pitch black and fever pitch is big enough to justify the price tag.
@Luke Rosdahl What do you believe -after 9 months- to be the best P2 combo? Idol Pearl or P3? My P2 is my main ball and my favorite. I play 42ft medium-heavy THS mostly. 13-15 mph, medium-low RPM, stroker style. I look for a combo with the P2, for when the P2 starts lacking carry after the initial games. I own a HyRoad OG and an AstroPhysix, but don't use them much. I also have a winner pearl that stays home most of the time.
My bowling balls are the hy road X , Halo, Motive tank rampage, Storm All our show off so I have a hybrid ,asymmetric and a urethane so I a getting a symmetric pearl
There's definitely no overlap there for me, if those are the only two balls you have though, you might want to pick something else to separate the reactions a bit more for more diversity.
Idol pearl be a good ball for a first time league bowler who plans on having 1 ball and 1 spare ball? I'm comfortable throwing for a few different angles speeds
Eh, maybe, but it's the cover that makes it a 2 ball, not necessarily the layout. At a certain point, that cover just doesn't handle high friction that well.
Typical Male Really hard to say . . I CAN get the Idol Pearl deeper if I try. I’d have to say an extra solid arrow, so however much your Idol Pearl hooks, this one will hook an extra 5

@@tdub5693 it seems you can handle pearl balls better because they start up late on the lane.. physix is a really early and strong ball and needs a lot of oil.. you say that you are better with the astro physix.. well then i tell you this: the phaze 3 is like your astro physix but much stronger.. the idol pearl is a little weaker than your astro physix i would say.. i have the idol pearl and sometimes its even too strong for me so because of that there is no way i am getting a phaze 3.. would be too strong in most cases.. for a lot of oil i use my motiv trident abyss which is a ball quite similar to your physix. early and strong with a dull cover. Sorry if i confused you even more with my comment.. :D
I asked for an idol pearl for Christmas forgetting about the phaze 3. I needed this video thanks.
Your videos are great. Very good, keep up the good work!
Appreciate it!!
But how does the Phaze 3 compare to the Phaze 2?...oh wait nevermind, just needed the feed to refresh...
Something tells me storm is winning every tournament in the 2020 pba season....that ball just kills the pins.

I ran a P2 with an Idol Pearl most of last year and made a ton of money with it, P3 can be too sensitive to friction.

Phase 3 vs Soniq?
Son!Q is earlier, smoother, and 2-3 boards weaker overall, Phaze 3 likes angle a whole lot more.
Not sure why but I throw my astro physix better than my physix I want something to replace my physix do you think this could be it?
Do you want something like it or something different?
Something like it I'm not sure if this ball is or not but I like this ball
Physix needs oil. It won’t be that good on regular house shot.
Welsh won't be that good as in too much hook?
