Revisisland241000 inglorious basterds was one of his best performances ever. The way his facial expression changed before he said "you are sheltering enemies of the state, aren't you" was one of the most impressive moments in movie history. Iconic! From the most polite and well mannered guest you could wish in your house to the pure evil in a few seconds just using your face.
Maybe Christoph Waltz secretly thought: "Ok, I'm the favorite. But, if she say 'Christopher', I won't take the risk in hearing 'Christoph'. I'm going to wait for the 'Waltz' ". That's what his reaction timing looks like.
Some people liked Inglourious Basterds (like myself), some didn't, but everybody liked Christopher Waltz as Landa. By the way - that's acting, people. Some of those super famous actors are capable of acting out some emotions pretty dar well, have a couple of great scenes in most of their movies, but acting is when every seccond of your performance is commited to that character - every tiny facial expression, posture, every seccond of your voice. Those that didn't was because of the marketing in my opinion. Go watch the trailer, and you'll see it advertised as a movie almost exclusively about Brad Pitt and his gang of Nazi hunters. So people felt that they were mislead.

TheXCore360 First of all, WHY IN THE WORLD IS IT NECESSARY TO USE FOUL LANGUAGE? You are allowed to make comments without trying to demean the other person by insulting them. People have to grow up here. It's getting ridiculous! Anyway, I was 18 years old and I was visiting relatives in Chicago when I saw the first Star Wars movie is 1977. I am now in my mid 50's, do not follow Star Wars, but I could only assume "Star Wars Fanboys" are what we use to call "groupies" in the 70's. But tell me this. Where in the world can you go, that when you play THAT MUSIC when Darth Vader is coming, that people do not recognize the character it is associated with as well as the fear it put into people a long, long time ago. Just kidding. A little tongue and cheek there.
Very few performances in the history of cinema were better than his in this movie. The looks, the shifts on a dime in emotion, it was like watching Mozart play in person. Outstanding and well deserved.
Christoph not only won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in Inglourious Basterds and Django Unchained, but he also received Golden Globe and BAFTA awards for each movie. 3 awards for each performance. Incredible.
Hollywood needs to put him in more movies. This is a great actor! He becomes these totally different characters in each of his movies. I hate when actors are the same person, with the same speech and mannerism in each movie (George Clooney I'm looking at you).

And what an incredibly brilliant, thoughtful, and intelligent speech. I though it was a very well made movie and was not at all tasteless.
lazerlazer
yes basically he is not a native english speaker.. he was born in Austria
for that character in Inglorious Basterds directer sought a perfect person who is well skilled and able to speak multiple languages especially german... so fortunately he got chance......
I didn't see a more polite and humble speaking actor in my life. Pardon, person.
Very few performances in the history of cinema were better than his in this movie. The looks, the shifts on a dime in emotion, it was like watching Mozart play in person. Outstanding and well deserved.
A well played villain
Christoph not only won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in Inglourious Basterds and Django Unchained, but he also received Golden Globe and BAFTA awards for each movie. 3 awards for each performance. Incredible.
Hollywood needs to put him in more movies. This is a great actor! He becomes these totally different characters in each of his movies. I hate when actors are the same person, with the same speech and mannerism in each movie (George Clooney I'm looking at you).
An acceptance speech that delivered like a memorable scene in a timeless movie given by a superbly technical actor for playing one of the most memorable character ever written and brought to life in possibly the best Tarantino movie, one that will likely never be forgotten. What a moment in time this was.
This speech is just marvelous.
I kinda wanted Stanley Tucci to win (he was the best thing in "The Lovely Bones"), but Waltz totally deserved it.
Should have been a tie
It was all the others misfortune to go up against this man in this role for sure
Gui Porto Just look at his reaction when his name is called, he knew he wasn’t gonna win
Totally deserved it. Such an outstanding actor and was phenomneal in Inglorious Basterds. One of the best villains in cinema

I’m LITERALLY in love with him
It's funny to see Harvey in these scenes getting praised even though he was a fucking creep the whole time
Just shows his reach of influence and power.
He deserved the praise for his role in making the movie. And also, he's a giant scumbag creep that will never work in Hollywood again.
Man, this performance is absolutely brilliant! Scene stealer!
