I sent this game in wayyyy back in the first ever "Post Some Tat" back on Vidiots. I was gutted when I found out the footage was corrupted and the episode was lost, they actually tweeted me apologising because they couldn't bring themselves to play it again hahahaha
This was always the game I saw in my local games shop I picked it up a few times and looked at the back of the box but never brought it I sort of remember the tv show, also other shows at the time I used to watch were: techno games (similar to robot wars but with events from the Olympics), the snorks, sharky and George, the raccoons, Tom and Jerry kids
What a throwback, I used to love this show as a kid, to the point that my mum later got me the game. It wasn't a good one at all, but I literally wasted hours on the thing. Most of it was spent making abominations lol
@@EarthboundX The boys are correct, but the BBC really bet big on the show. I believe it was on a few days a week and has like 20 odd episodes. I'd guess a bunch of them are lost media now though.
@@Phrogly I was watching when it started as I was quite excited for it. It actually replaced Robot Wars on BBC2 on Friday nights. Which was a hell of a gamble considering how popular Robot Wars was. It then debuted and... flopped massively. It was slow, plodding, the fights were boring as hell. Nobody cared and viewers switched off in droves. I think I lasted two episodes before giving up entirely. 6 weeks later and they pulled it entirely from the old Robot Wars slot and shoved it on Saturday mornings only (or Sunday... it was a weekend morning as nobody cared anyway). It never actually finished as far as I remember as it wound up pulled from TV entirely prior to the completion of the tournament. It's a shame it was done when it was as the idea of it is great. It's the Dreamcast of fighting TV shows. Way too early and before it's time. Had it been done 5 years later it may have been a hit, but it just wasn't polished enough for the time. The theme music was absolutely amazing though.
I'm so glad you guys did this game! 6-year-old me is one of those who remembers that period in 2003 when this show was on, it was a great time to be alive !
Never saw the TV show but I remember seeing ads for this game in the UK Official PS2 Magazine constantly! The BBC were desperate for this to catch on clearly!
According to Wikipedia, this was Runecrafts last game. They are Worst Games alumni, being responsible for Barbie Race and Ride and Barbie explorer. Im not sure if it was on WGE but they also developed Jim Henson's The Hoobs
I never played this game but I absolutely loved the show when I was younger, I think my parents taped several episodes on VhS. What a blast from the past
I actually noticed the low watch count for this video before I started watching it. But then your comment made me even more concerned. Whatever anyone says, along with Hat Films, these are my favourite UA-camrs ever no matter what analytics say.
@@AshLilburne Yeah, it's got me a bit concerned too. These guys have been a major part of my life the past few years. I know everything doesn't last forever, but there's nothing like these two.
I'm almost certain bbc released this (or a demo version of it) free of charge for PC to download. It being 2004, it took 12 hours to download and wouldn't work on our 5 year old windows 98 Packard bell monster. Bullet dodged I guess?
This brings back memories. Those of us who got on the show. We played an online version on this game for HOURS/DAYS in order to score high enough to be called in for the show. I am a PC gamer and use a keyboard and mouse. I turned up to the filming to find they were using playstation controllers. But still scored better than you did. Just saying ;)
I'm not normal a fan of clip shows but a top 10 of worst of worst games might be cool. Where there's a count down of your opinion of the worst of the worst... I'm going to say worst one more time lol
This game and show are the dictionary definition of "supremely great idea on-paper." And like so many wonderful ideas in tech: terrible in execution/reality.
I suggested this on a few videos. I had it as a kid and was just the worst thing I’ve ever played! It took so long to find out what it was called when I googled it. Can’t believe it is finally here!
Quick question, when UA-cam plays an add after every video finishes do the channels get revenue from that? I've always paused or closed the video so the add can't start, but i also "skip add" every chance i get. Since i would be more likely to let an add run after the video is over i might start letting it happen if it means more money for whatever channel created the video i watched.
I’d completely forgotten about this show. I seem to remember watching a few episodes at the time, interested to see how it worked. I’m pretty certain I had the game too but I don’t remember too much about the gameplay. Which is probably for the best 😅
It was a great game on the GBA! (one reason why it only reached 22000 viewers on average was due to it being broadcast on BBC Three instead of the main BBC Channel). Still it was a good show!
i was a contestant and it was bad... but a good day out... it failed because it was made by the BBC... they were trying to get the same reaction as Robot Wars to it... however this was a computer game... and a tame one at that... especially when you could play MK2 at home on your Megadrive/Genisis or Snez.
Where does the 'if I'm being serious about it' thing come from? Is it a play on Americans typically having zero grasp of banter and taking things to heart? I've been binge watching this channel since finding it and just wondered. It seems to pop up a fair bit and always in some manner of American accent. I'm 41 and not always up to speed with the 'dankest' memes of all the cool Zoomer Tick Talkers, with their peepos and Tide pods.
I think I watched maybe one and a half episodes of this back in the day. I don't know if it was the control scheme the contestants had but it was so embarassing to see them all slowly edging about the map and falling off all the time. And I had this gut feeling that the guys had attempted to cover this in the past. I remembered them getting a copy on Post Some Tat and it unlocking the memory of the show and seeing 20 copies of the game for £3 in my local second hand Game store.
I had this game as a kid purely because part of me desperately wanted Fightbox to be the new Robot Wars/Bamzooki/Time Commanders/Techno Games, and then it was just a bit rubbish (the show), the game was even worse. Also I hope there's a Robbie Williams Rudebox reference in this video.
So watching this at 1.5x speed seems normal and 1.0x seems slow. Like the reactions etc. Is it just me? I'm just curious, not meant to sound obtuse or sarcastic or a negative comment
I'd never heard of this show before now - I was much more into Bamzooki - but I do distinctly remember this game being reviewed in a page corner of OPS2M with an abysmal score

Bet it was cool to see them play it again and have the video survive then. 😁
Wow, they made a game based on a TV show that only ran for a month? Has that ever happened more than once?

How many eps did it have? They say in this video the show literally only ran for a month? Or is that info wrong?

Shoutout to this game for just giving you literally no instructions on how each game works.
I'm so glad you guys did this game! 6-year-old me is one of those who remembers that period in 2003 when this show was on, it was a great time to be alive !
I love that old BBC logo jingle. Reminds me of watching Red Dwarf on VHS as a kid
Oh boy! Youve been teasing this for years! So glad the footage didn't corrupt this time!

I remember this show and the game from my younger years. I really liked them back then.
That made me sad when you said your audience for the show was 22k, you deserve millions...i love me some worst games ever!
They probably don't have tons of subscribers because they aren't obnoxious screamers.

Should have given Dave your drinks order. Might have been easier if he was distracted.
Question for Michael Johnson. Is the audio from the lost Fightbox episode still accessible? Genuine question

This unlocked a memory I didn't realise I had 😅 thanks for sending me down a Wikipedia rabbit hole with this one!
I personally fondly remember this game I found it a charity shop in the UK I couldn't get pass the second level I got fed up with it very quickly
2:29 and now the song is in my head 😜
Oooh. New and flashy stuff.
Very cool

Robot Wars terminology, like "Zook". That's what they called the competitors in Robot Wars
Ooh you should give Roscoe McQueen a try. Love the show ❤
That game was pretty good though!
the chairs look like they are wearing space marine power packs
I literally found the box to this game in my closet today and then found this video.... google stay out of my room.
Al Gore rhythm
The best kind of Al Gore.
I think I remember hearing about this game when it came out from Game Informer or something at the time.
Where you guys finding these games at??
More Rudebox references in future episodes please 👍
Kodiak looks like Furry Thanos 😂
I remember watching this show , I got the game when I was about 11 and it was terrible

Gamezlab also developed the greatest game ever made...Ace Lightning!

Also hi triple jump guys been watching since vodiots:)
If only someone would make a Triple Jump (or Vidiots) video game! HINT HINT!!!

Memory unlocked 😢
Robbie Williams... Rock DJ?
Used to love this abomination!
