Finding a Like-Minded Partner

  • I met my husband in China, 5 years ago. Before that I’d never even considered being in a serious relationship because I didn’t see the point. I hadn’t met anyone I could consider a long-term partner in life. Why is it so difficult finding someone with the same values? Or someone who’s wanting to live an alternative lifestyle just like us?
I think the key lies in non-attachment, but there are also some practical solutions to this dilemma and finding your soulmate.
Thank you so much for watching 🌺

You have shared a wisdom that many people never see, never get. Your intuition of love and relationship is VERY different from what most of us experience because you have learned to NOT expect something that might not be possible. I believe that when you marry, it is not for you but for your partner and your family. Love is around all of us. We can share it with everyone. It is in finding that "friend" that we can talk and talk and talk with, that is where we might find a relationship that changes, not only me but the other person as well. We both grow and mature, no matter our ages.
Because of my health issues, I can not be where my husband lives in the summer months. This has been difficult and different. We are able to talk and talk, because of modern communications, so we are able to be together. But I miss being quiet together, just sitting, saying nothing. The old couple that just sit quietly together, just because they like each other company, which is immensely comforting.
You make my day when you share your heart with us. It is a rare ability that blesses those who listen. Thank you, ❤ 🇺🇲👵

Finding the right partner is something none of us are taught and so many mistakes are made, divorce rates so high. Your thoughts give helpful advise on a complex matter. 😊

Divorce rates are at an all-time high! But, I think as a society this is because we sense we are needing something more. Hopefully insight can help us make the transformations we are after 🙏😄💙

My partner and I are different in a lot of parts of life. But we learned together, how we still can grow together and build a great loving and healthy relationship. Commitment is a huge part, because when both people want to make it work, it is possible!

It's inspiring to hear your thoughts!!! Especially on the point of being that way myself instead of expecting it from the partner, I felt caught. It also confronts me with the question, how much Fantasy Self do I want to live? For instance, I think the idea of a self-sustaining garden is great. In reality, however, the responsibility of the garden overwhelms me.
And secretly there is still the desire to change my partner... that he doesn't use drugs, doesn't smoke anymore.... Somehow I let myself be blinded by the fact that since the beginning of the relationship he thinks he wants to stop smoking and reduce drugs a bit. Almost 3.5 years later still not happened.... How much compromise do I make in life to be with someone I love?

Thank you so much! I think it's great to think about those things, to make sure we create a reality based on ourselves instead of the images we see around us!
And I think that's a difficult question. For me drugs is a no go for what I want for my future, for example, and that I can't compromise on. So I think it becomes a question of growing together, and what values you have, and if they work together or not.
