I like your epiphone bass. My first bass (I still have) I purchased in 1982 , it's a Japanese knock off "Vantage" and it's a flying V . It's easy to play as the frets are short and the action is set low , but it's a beast weighing in at 13 lbs. lol
In addition to ergonomic concerns, choosing the right guitar strap is like choosing the right tie or belt :-) I’m looking for a strap to match my Sienna Sunset Strat and my Dark Night Tele.
Some nice straps to me around 3 inch straps are comfortable for most guitars most time make my own being I make horse saddles for a living hide but or suede is good material even some webbing lined some guitar strap makers ask alot for leather straps look OK but 99 percent of the time is only cheap leather scars can be covered with Ingrave patterns on them thanks 👍
When I watch the blues Freddy king and The other king or Albert Collins they just put the starp over shoulder not around the neck why I don't know..but awsem vedio now I have to use a strap going into the gigging thing been playing long time but hobby still hobby but for people now I don't care if I get paid or not I just time to let the music in me out..first I have to meet the Deval down in Gorgia and show how it's done may get a guitar made of gold out of the deal. .Gutiar is a crazy journey imo..
I'm quite boring, so it's all black baseball leather of Perry's lol. I don't even have to think about which one to grab, they're like superhero uniforms, all the same. No cloth/nylon(is it called that?) anything that slides. Leathers grips whatever I'm wearing so that's good.
As much as I like all those cool trippy looking retro weave patterns, those kinds of straps almost always have metal rivets and buckles on them. That’s a no no for me around my expensive acoustic guitars. Solid bodied electrics I don’t worry about so much.
Exactly man. I like retro looking super slim straps that I put on headstock with shoelace, but they also almost always some with metal buckles that are very dangerous for my guitars, so I removed metal buckle and made the connection between holes with shoelace too...
Thanks! I would recommend something leather or something soft like an Original Fuzz Indian woven cloth strap, they're pretty comfy and only get more comfy over time. You can also soften leather with vaseline. Also, long live the doge, I'm still hodling! haha
Fashion is fine. Its the connection to the strap pin thats always the problem. Cheap thin material, even thick can tear and maybe a catastrophe. Im going to a shoe maker/repairer to see if he can make from heavy stiff leather or some kind of rubber soul material. Yes your straps are pretty. ;)
Which strap wiil be strong & tide for many days plz tell me i will buy same what tell me in this public comment plzplzplz tell me i have more to gat knowledge
My guitar slides while I'm playing standing up.. I want my guitar to stay at a same classical position throughout the session.. | which strap would you recommend?
You could do a wide chainmail-rings type of thing - it'd be heavy as hell by itself and you'd probably want to put something on the inside to add more grip because neck-dive will be a thing, but it'd actually disperse the weight of the bass fairly well if it was wide enough.
Seeing as how LP's are pretty heavy, I would recommend something like a padded leather. Or a little bit wider than a normal sized strap. Leather softens up the more it's used. You can also coat the leather in vaseline everyday for about a week and that will soften it up much quicker too. Baseball players do this with their gloves.
Is there a certain length I’m supposed to be looking for? I have a guitar strap that just way to long also I’m 5’9” so bit very tall. I have an 8 banger coming in and looking for a strap to go with it but want to get the right length.
I would highly recommend going to your local guitar store and trying out different straps. You should be able to find one that will allow for significant adjustment. I would recommend the buckle style like the ACE one I showing in my video. You can usually make a pretty big adjustment in length to that kind of strap.
I have an Ibanez Artcore AS73G (Semi hollow) not too heavy but not light either. Like the 335 it has the strap pin where the neck is bolted into the body as opposed to a strat where it's on the horn. Would u recommend something like a wide leather strap or can I get away with something else preferably lock-it straps because I don't want to drill holes into the body for strap locks.
I would try a wider leather strap. That will cover more surface area on your shoulder which will be much more comfortable and less likely to feel unbalanced. Instead of strap locks, maybe try strap blocks. They hold really well and should keep your strap locked into place as long as you're not jumping around on stage with it haha. Hope that helps!
quite enjoyed this but unfortunately didn't find the answer I was hoping to find. Thing is I recently purchased a 335 and it's the first guitar I've owned where left hand strap button is on the heel of the neck rather than on the top horn. All the straps I have are the buckle-type ones (same width all the way from one end to the other) and I can't quite put my finger on what's bothering me about them on the 335 - they're absolutely fine on Strats and Teles etc. but on the 335, they just seem to be getting in my way a little. Would a two-piece strap with one thinner section be better for this kind of strap button arrangement? Thanks.
So the wide, black , leather strap that I showed goes onto my bass guitar with the same strap pin arrangement which you described. I don't have a buckle and it's a two piece strap. The second piece is very small on the tail end of the strap so that it stays out of the way and causes no discomfort. I would recommend that style of strap. Also the wider strap will disperse more weight and create more balance which is imperative for this style of strap pin placement to keep you from feeling like you're always holding up the headstock with your hand.
@@VanHoutenBuilds Hi man - thanks for the reply. I must have glanced away from the screen for a few seconds when you showed the strap you use on your bass, so thank you for pointing me back in that direction; just checked it out and will give it a try the moment I get myself that kind of buckle-less strap. Thanks again - stay safe.
When playing my guitar, my strap has a buckle and the buckle is the most uncomfortable part, would you say the other loosening mechanism is better or is it just me?
Not just you! The buckle can be very uncomfortable if it end up digging into your shoulder. It all depends on high high or low you wear your guitar. There are a lot of other strap types that do not have a buckle and may work better for you. Definitely would recommend something with a leather adjustment instead.

I wish I had watched this before putting a seatbelt-type nylon strap in my 8 pound strat haha
Hahaha oh no!
agreed, seatbelt burn

So true! I definitely recommend looking at more of the boutique companies. A lot of them are using some really unique and sustainable fabrics!
Pro tip:
Wider straps not only feel more comfortable, but look cooler than 2" straps.

Do they have parachute chord guitar straps? Just incase.

A quality leather strap will last the longest.
My guitar slides while I'm playing standing up.. I want my guitar to stay at a same classical position throughout the session.. |
which strap would you recommend?
I would recommend a wider strap for more stability and support if you're standing.
What do you think about vinyl straps? Are they comfortable? Durable? I´m about to get one from Levy´s for a bass. Thanks!
Yeah, vinyl straps can be great, especially after you break them in! Also, they're a great alternative to leather if you're vegan.
@@VanHoutenBuilds Thank you so much!
what would happen if i made a strap made out of chains, for my 5 string bass?
Haha that would probably hurt, only one way to find out. But rock n' roll, you do you!

Which one would you recommend for a Les Paul type guitar? I've had a vinyl one for years but never found it really comfortable 😰

What is the leather strap do you use for your acoustic guitar?
It's a thin, light brown, Levy's strap!

Thank you for the Info! It was very useful! And completely unrelated to straps (sorry about that): Holy cow, are you cute!! 😃
No no to that bandana
Thanks, that was my makeshift pandemic mask at the time.
If you are a guitar player? Just get a Bass 3" inches wide strap and burn all other guitar straps. Thank me later.

you are calling genuine leather high quality, when that is the lowest quality you can get.
