It was 1966, & I was 14. A friend invited me to see his brother’s guitar after school. I was stunned, a single cut White Falcon. Beautiful. Here in the Uk, a stunning sight back then.
This is the guitar I always dreamed about. Not just the Gretsch Falcon, but more specifically this version of the Falcon that didn’t exist when I dreamed of it. A couple of years ago I bought a G5622T in a beautiful walnut finish. These were very affordable and in many ways identical to this Falcon. I was absolutely in love with it, but of course it wasn’t the real deal. And I wanted it because I have a wonderful black Gibson ES-347 and I wanted something similar (semi hollow, center block, humbuckers, double cutaway), but different and cool enough to not just use it as a backup for the 347. And with the beautiful sound of the Filtertron style pickups, the stunning looks of the Falcon and the Bigsby there are plenty of differences between the two guitars to be perfect for what I’ve always wanted. And I have been looking for something like a Gibson 345 with a Bigsby, but then you look at the price tag and I just let it go. But even when Gibson could lower their prices to match this White Falcon, I would choose the Falcon anyway, because it’s got its own unique charm and feel and sound. I absolutely love it! 🧡 I think there’s a Black Falcon version as well and I think I prefer the Black Falcon, but I would be (almost) just as happy with this gorgeous White Falcon. This guitar is a winner. Hats off to Gretsch. 🎩
...Stephen Stills = Underrated Guitar God. Acoustic & Electric. Springfield, CSN, CSNY, Manassas, Solo albums and more. His catalog is incredible. He often plays a Gretsch White Falcon. Gretsch has become my favorite guitar company. I had the Electromatic version of this body shape a few years ago and it was fantastic. I regret selling it.
I have a g5422 made in china and it plays absolutely amazing and it’s beautiful… I can’t even imagine what’s the feeling to play such a beauty. I would love to own one. Also have to say that I never been a fan of bridge pickups in any guitar .. but boy the Gretsch bridge sound is something else. Throw some drive and delay and you have the Edge in your living room. Hi fi sound crispy and clear
I have a photo of myself playing an early 70s white falcon in my local guitar shop - I looked like a rock god but my arm and shoulder hurt after half an hour
These guitars are great. Can’t imagine anyone being disappointed with one of these. HOWEVER, these really aren’t all that much like a typical Falcon. I had one before getting my vintage select 59 and, while I would love to have one again, I would not put it in the same ballpark as my vintage select 59. That guitar is Gretsch par excellence. The only thing I would change is I would love to have that vertical headstock logo on mine. The big hollow body with the bridge filtertron sitting under a 25.5 scale just does a thing that I haven’t experienced in anything else.
2.37 " Comfortability"? Come on Coop, you're known for abbreviating words! " Comfort" is the correct word. Apart from that, great review of great looking guitar.☺🎸😎
Care to add some drive / rock / high gain sounds? Cannot find any for this guitar on UA-cam. Very few videos of this model. Most are featuring the Vintage Select models, that are quite different with the full hollowbody. Would’ve loved to hear more about the center block benefit too.
Great video! In your option, how does this compare to one of the current Gibson ES-345s? Know they are apples and oranges, but how would you compare the build quality and sound? I guess if you could only pick one, which would it be?
I was so steeped in Fender Gibson Land I missed this guitar. Then one day a friend bought me a China-made clone of this very guitar. In some ways the fit and finish flaws paled compared to the sound and playability. I use it in the studio regularly when looking for an alternate tone.
Bro, do you ever play with some distortion or overdrive? You always play clean....there are those of us who play mostly dirty....you should try and play both clean and dirty when demoing guitars.
I WILL TELL YOU FENDER DOES NOT OWN GRETSCH! They do have the EXCLUSIVE distribution and warranty for Gretsch. GRetsch Co. is located right outside of Savannah, GA and the Gretsch Drum plant is in Ridgeland, SC DW does there budget line out of Taiwan. If you want a Grestch USA you get it out of the Fender custom shop...Malcolm Young of ACDC played a Gretsch!!
please note for English speakers - say fall ie he had a fall ....now say fell ....falcon is spelt with a A and it is not said as felcon ...it is FAL con

Absolutely a stunning guitar and with an amazing player!
Billy Duffy of The Cult loves his White Falcon. Even does “Falcon Fridays” where he plays a bit for the fans.
In addition to playing one for four decades, Billy's had a signature model for years.
I have a 68 Chet Atkins Country Gentleman. It looks exactly like George Harrison's from Help. I love the tone and vibe.

That White Falcon is a beauty!
Thanks, Cooper.
Love the vids and the vibe.

That sound is amazing…
Beautiful guitar and it sounds awesome, too!
Beautiful instrument. Love those Filtertrons 🤓👍
Favorite brand by far.

Neil Young and Steve Stills are fans of the White Falcon.
I had a Country Gentleman and still want a White Falcon
Already drooling... ;) Recently got a ElectroMatic :p
The White Falcon saved the RHCP and it’s featured in only 3 of their songs.
Bring on the 55 VS Falcon!

I would like one with a white pick gurard.
Great video! In your option, how does this compare to one of the current Gibson ES-345s? Know they are apples and oranges, but how would you compare the build quality and sound? I guess if you could only pick one, which would it be?
I always wanted a Black Falcon with gold hardware without the Bigsby.
Usually don’t comment but wanna help out in any small way I can. Hope the algorithm treat u well chaps 🇬🇧🙏🎸

Malcolm Young played the single cut version around 1980. Check out the official Hells Bells video.
I'm sure that my wife would say that I don't need a Falcon guitar. wtf?
man you don't have 9 lives you've got only one go and buy it if u have money and if u badly want it
Which would be the end of life as you know it, but hey, you'll have a very cool guitar! Good luck!
She said you don’t need any of that tonight either. Cold shower for you.
What a beautiful guitar, a little too big for a little guy like me.

I'm more of a single cutaway White falcon fanboy.
How is it better than Gibson es335
It's cause Neil Young traded his to Stephen Stills...or was it reversed?😊
Dang, the rambling really doesn’t sell the guitar at all. Seems like you were disappointed in the guitar.
I don't like gold hardware so I won't be getting one of these. It sounds awesome though.
Beautiful guitar but the tone is way too thin, even out of the neck humbucker. No sale.
It's not Korn's guitar.
When he says it’s a good guitar, that means it is not ! Or he would have said great, awesome, unreal or something besides good .Lol
Now… where is Rickenbacker on this channel?
please note for English speakers - say fall ie he had a fall ....now say fell ....falcon is spelt with a A and it is not said as felcon ...it is FAL con
It's actually with an A not "a" A
