- Pete Townsend and George Harrison knew what was up, as did many other artists! The Gretsch Jet has long been the overlooked single cut that maybe the better option. While the Gibson Les Paul tends to get the majority of the love, this Gretsch Player's Edition Jet G6288FM should make you sit up and take notice. Amazing craftsmanship and player-centric specs make this one of the more compelling electric guitars on the market! Check out our full review.

Never thought I’d want a Gretsch. Now I do. What salesmen you are.
Best UA-cam duo. Your videos are addictive. Beautiful guitar there, Cooper doing justice as usual.
As a kid in the late 1960’s I picked up a Gretsch and was SOLD. It was my go to guitar for 40+ years.
Great guitars
Glad you are showing them.
Never comment here most of the time but that Gretsch just blew me away....so did Coopers playing! I could hear the rich, thick tone from just my phone.....pure masterclass!...def want one now
You guys are fantastic! Cooper rocks!
It’d be cool to see some Gretsch demos with the guitar plugged into a Marshall or Vox. The EQ profile of Gretsches seems to be similar to a Strat in that the mids are a bit “scooped” plugging it into a more mid-forward, British style-amp really makes them shine because it helps to fill out the spectrum more.
Nice video-I agree with all your comments. I bought a Gretsch Players edition Pro (in Cadillac Green) last year from Casino Guitars in North Carolina, and love it. And I actually traded in my Les Paul for it!
Love your videos!
Thank you!
Nice! I recently bought a 2019 Japanese made Pro-Jet (solid body, always forget model #) 'dark red' with Bigsby and thumb nail markers and it's an absolutely gorgeous instrument. I hadn't come across these Player's Editions with the ebony board - certainly not here in HK at the Gretsch dealers but will have a looksee - as a longtime player of 1968 LP Custom I have a feeling there's a lot here that I would like. Thanks, as always it's a pleasure watching you guys!
These are the guys I trust for honest reviews
I'd love to see a video of the Broadkaster Jr either compared to the Jet, Broadkaster Sr, or other famous single cuts. Great video BTW. The Bourbon is such a beauty.
About 5 years ago got my first Gretsch, a Jet Jr with P90 and bucker. Less than $300 and really good. Liked it so much I bought a Jet Player
G6128T with Bigsby (real one) and DynaSonics. Sahara Mist Metallic. Mine also has the traditional tombstone fret markers, a bit more stylish, locking tuners too.
Gretsch feel takes a bit of adjustment from some other instruments. I LOVE the master volume, so I stole the specs and put them in 4 other semi-hollows I own. Best mod ever. Not for everything but the sweet spot for a lot of styles.
I've tried to buy a Gibson at least 5 times in the last 10 years, but I never enjoyed playing them or I saw some shocking manufacturing flaw that turned me off. That led me to my first Gretsch.
I play my Gretsch Resonator more than my Martin - go figure. Whenever I just want to jam and have fun, I reach for my G5655. My electric 12 is Gretsch - All of which wasn't planned, but over time, I've clearly become Gretsch preferred. I now think they're the best looking too.
Stunning....sound, response, and playing!
Oh man that sounds sweet. I own four Electromatic hollow bodies. I was thinking about getting the Electromatic Jet with the P90s that you reviewed a few months ago. I might have to take a look at these. As far as other guitars I’d like to see you guys review how about the Vintage Select 1959 Falcon?
I just miss some middle ground in Gretsch's Jet line. You have entry level instruments and next level are 5x more expensive pro instruments. I'd love to see something in MIM Fender price range
Tell ya what, I have one of the Jets made in China and it’s freaking unbelievable. It made me turn my nose at my Les Paul. The playability, the unique scale length feels like Gibson but is slightly better for ease of bends. I’d definitely be into one of their player models.
You're the best!!
I wish I had the money to afford this guitar, it works out to around $4000 CND after taxes so in other words: waaaaay out of my price range. Luckily I picked up a used G5220 last fall for 450 bucks and it plays and sounds fantastic. Not too mention it has the proper name on the headstock. I ❤ Gretsch.
Since adopting my Jet FT (in Cadillac Green), I hardly ever reach for any of my 3 LPs.
I've always thought the gretch jet is just what we all would get if teles and les Paul's had a baby. Great guitars
Wish you would’ve mentioned the cost made that part convenient.
got one
I propose that kind of cutaway be called the mullet cutaway... business in the front, party in the back.
That chevron bridge has always looked awkward to me - like a road marking that's pointing the wrong way. I feel like it should be flipped around to point toward the neck!
I wish they where “straight”, rather than “bent”
@@GordonPavilion Ah well, every other guitar you own already has that; I guess Gretsch chose this visual 'device' to stand out.
A Les Paul Standard was my dream guitar forever. Then I tried an Electromatic Jet BT….a Player’s Edition Jet is now my dream guitar. Could care less about the LP.😂
It isnt maybe better it is better.
Did Cooper forget his own name at the beginning?
Yes, this Gretsch should be considered alongside a Les Paul STD and a Heritage H150 STD. It sounds and looks great. And Japan is not China for us snobs whom that matters to.
Go for the real Jet … it’s awesome
Beautiful guitar but why does the back look like a hideous cheap epiphone striped veneer back?
Sales pitch or what...better sell us lot some eh
Nice guitar. Thou shall not covet. I actually like the headstock of my Gretsch, but...don't covet buy it!
I've had expensive Keisels, Fenders, a Les Paul, a Taylor.. and *for the money*, the imported versions of these ain't so bad either.
