A310 has been a work horse for PIA . Pilots still miss it and they talk high of this aircraft . It was very powerful , robust and long range aircraft ... legend
I have the A310 to thank for my love of aviation, ever since I was 4 years old, an uncle of mine who flew this type let me sit up in the cockpit. Have not flown on one since 2001 now, but for me will always be a favourite.
Airbus should restart the A310 program with a NEO version. It would have a lot more range and it would be great for low cost airlines and even legacy carriers! A great plane and a workhorse for so many airlines, still flying to this day! Hopefully we can see it grace the skies once more in the not so distant future.
The funny thing - A310 was a commercial failure, yet new Boeing 797 middle of market design is going to be pretty much similar aircraft, but with fuel consumtion and range for today standards. A310 was ahead of its time. 757 is also aircraft that could be a top seller today, yet they stopped production early, while smaller, but comperable A321 is selling very well in recent years.
No. The A310 and 757 failed for the same reasons. Not enough passenger capacity for their size and fuel consumption and lack of long thin routes to make them profitable. If you want a cheaper aircraft with nearly the same capacity, get a 737-800 or A321. If you want a wide body to actually make money, a 767 or A330-200 was the way to go.
No mention about the most important thing. Completely new avionics in A310, first “glass cockpit” and no need for the 3rd flight deck crew member (the flight engineer).
@@KasabianFan44 The new cockpit appeared on the A310 first, which shortly after that was ported back to the A300 as the A300-600, along with the new tail section.

They are still succesful..................but again the 767-200 wasn't sold well compared to the later 300(ER) serie. That one was very populair (But it was larger so it was not a direct rival of the A310) , and not put on flights to small airports with short runways (Under 2000m).... Btw I love to fly it on FS too,........and I have a huge 1/500 scale model colection (over 400 models).........and again the 767 classic is pretty rare there too..... The A 310 went too soon - Such a pity it did`nt succeed that well - I flew with this bird several times and always enjoyed it`s performance - She was a my favorite wide body that was`nt too big & plump. Always was a smooth ride with her..
The A310 would work perfectly in today's aviation industry of 2018. Longer range, lower weight, fewer passenger capacity, and cheaper to run than the A300. Many people would rather fly direct to their destination non stop, on low demand routes. This fits the A310 perfectly. Airbus imo released the A310 a couple decades too early. If they released it today it would've gotten much more sales. I'd like to think the A350 is a revamped version of the A310.
Looooove the a310. I flew on one when I was in Thailand back in the 90s and it was one of the coolest little wide bodies I’d ever seen. Hows this for a trip? During that entire trip, I got to fly on the 747-200, 400 and sp (the sp!). As well as a leg on an a310. It was, without a doubt, the coolest air travel trip I’d ever taken. Great mix of Boeing and Airbus curiosities.
The A300 and A310 are still flying today, mostly in the parks of cargo airlines, but there are still passenger flight operators. Such as Iran air and Mahan air.
Absolutely great videos with a huge amount of information and effort going towards an excellent presentation. But if I could just take issue with two points. Point 1) At -2.45 it states that IBERIA was one of the airline's that ordered the Airbus A310. IBERIA never ordered the Airbus A10 and the airline never had the aircraft in their fleet. IBERIA on other hand flew the Airbus A300-B4 with 9 examples ordered direct from Airbus. Point 2) At -300 it states that British Airways ordered the Boeing 767 over the Airbus A310. British Airways placed an order with Boeing in November 1987 for the Boeing 767-300 version for deliveries in February 1990, the airline ordered 27 aircraft. The first flight of the Airbus A310 was in early 1982 with the first deliveries to airlines such as Air France and British Caledonian Airways starting in early April 1984. British Airways ordered the Boeing 767-300 series over five and a half years after the first flight of the Airbus A310. At the time the Boeing 767 suited the needs of British Airways over the Airbus A310. The decision by British Airways to order the Boeing 767-300 over the Airbus A310 was a commercial one based on the needs of the recently privatised British Airways and was not influenced by the United Kingdom government of the time or the retraction of the United Kingdom aerospace industry into forming British Aerospace. The only influence that the United Kingdom government made towards British Airways ordering the Boeing 767 over the Airbus A310 was the fact that the Boeing aircraft was to have Rolls Royce RB211 engines fitted. Engine commonality was one of the main reasons why British Airways ordered the Boeing 767 over the Airbus A310. British Airways newer Boeing 747-200 fleet and their recent order for the Boeing 747-400 all flew with the Rolls Royce RB211 engine as did their fleet of new narrow bodied Boeing 757-200's and fleet of wide bodied Lockheed L1011 "TriStar". Although personally I would have loved to have seen British Airways ordering the Airbus A310 and I was very disappointed at the time that they hadn't. The Airbus A310 would have looked excellent in the British Airways colour scheme of the time which was the Landor scheme.
I flied Iranair A310 as recent as last year. They still operate those and couldn't buy new ones bcz of the sanctions. It's the one like in the beginning of the video.
I flew to Salvador,Brazil 10 yeas ago in one of the TAP Air Portugal A 310 and I liked;it was a good plane. Some years later they sold them and bought A 330 and A 340;already flew in both of them and liked it too. Now we are waiting for the new 320;321 and 330 NEO TAP bought and will be delievered in June 2018...wait and see.
I wonder if their next lives will be in firefighting. The DC10 and 737 as well as one 747 have been converted into firefighters and it would be interesting to have an Airbus firefighter.
The Canadian government has 5 A310 for troops transport and one for the Prime Ministe. I flew on them several times and they are a nice plane for a 30 years old plane.
The idea behind twin engine jets makes me wonder if, in theory, it'd be possible to build a large single-engine jet. Airbus has the market pretty well covered, particularly with the new a321XLR. It's Boeing which lacks a medium sized longer range aircraft.

The A300 and A310 is two of my favorite, however the DC-10/MD-11 is my all time favorite widebody trijet powerhouse !
The MD-11 was just amazing. As for the DC-10 days, I'd actually prefer Lockheed's L-1011 TriStar.
You always manage to keep my attention! Very well made series! You're a great narrator!
Nice job! Keep it up man! #IloveAirbus

boo xD ! I respect your opinion
Boeing which sounds like boring is boring. Airbus has amazing developements. #IloveAirbus.

Right? So perfectly to the point!
The Luftwaffe A310s were VIP transport and inherited from Interflug.
Don't mention "the war..." then...
I laughed out loud!!! Well funny
As if Europe ever invaded other countries and stayed in them... that’s Russia speciality....😏

i wish they would make it. a310 could carry a lot of people, a lot of cargo and was quite short for a 9 abreast aircraft.

Seems like this series is lacking in details compared the other ones you do. I feel like more information would have been a good thing.
A310 200 was domestic. A310 300 was intercontinental. Hear these were better than 767 200 & also slightly outsold that plane.
I loved flying the A300-600R & the A310-300
2nd aircraft in the video was from Biman Bangladesh airlines. The livery is one of the best in the world. Specially the ones in their B777 and B787
Concord was first airbus aircraft but was not named airbus as others helped with it.
I loved the sound it made, heer in Birmingham we got wardair of Canada.it replaced the 747 sp which was also great sounding.
Sean Avery - I live in Birmingham too! I go to the airport almost every week
I love the A310 in the modern FedEx livery I spot them in Indianapolis all the time.

You are so right considering that the 797 is suppose to be widebody. Boeing has learned from the previous A310 vs 757 battle. The A310 could do all the things but where it had the 757 beat but good was its cargo capacity.
the a300 and a310 are 2 of the most dangerous accident prone planes ever built both planes statistics are similar to the DC-10 in loss stats.

Very nice overview.Thankyou Sir
Hi do you need a video editor?
Brilliant video :)
IBERIA did not fly the A310 as you mentioned…
Mate, nice work on eng localization! I hope that auditory will enjoy your work and you will master your spoken English. Good luck!
1:14 Hah that was the best part
A310 is one seat wider than 767. It's also the niche everyone is saying is a gap in the market now. Maybe they should resurrect it?
The a300 has no tilt and the a310 has tilt see differences
Has the airbus A310 ever flown from Tokyo to Bangkok?

I asked the same thing some peeps said it's a bad idea since narrow body planes were the future
Skyships are you the same guy who runs Freeman Shooting channel?
Airbus A310 un sesi efsane...
Cockpit videos is also of PIA
Mohib Ahmad seems so, PIA recently sold it's lot or mysteriously vanished;)
Arbab Wadood it retired it’s a310 Fleet
The planes are stored at Karachi airport
There were news that PIA could bring them back in service
Yes I can make this wide body rc airplane. 😎
Hey i first here eh keep up the good work
nobody cares ur first bitch
planes spotter and railfanner why are u so aggressive? Your being un civilized
I like the a310 and the a330
why not reload this airxcraft again?
I like Airbus cuz of this aircraft The Airbus A310 😊 its different...
I feel like the a310 looks like a higher version of the 737
Long life to Airbus......A European Company
Did the A310 have a yolk and a flight engineer?
It has a yoke like it's A300 brother but its a two man cockpit like the A300-600 variants.
Thank you!
Went on one yesterday lol
Have Soviet airliners ever sold outside the Communist Bloc ?
its so thicc
What is the title of the background music. Please
I love this "Fatty" A310.

they should have named the a310 the a300 Sp
