I have always avoided using my curling iron, but I have just given it another go, thanks for the great tips. I hope you enjoyed Australia, when you came over last, I had a good chat to Miss Scarlet the other day.
These make SO MUCH SENSE. I have such a hard time pincurling and I never can keep a curl. All right, you've convinced me, time to buy a pack of clips. Thank you again!
You are such an awesome person. So beautiful and kind. My daughter and I met you for a Halloween Event about 3 yrs ago in Long Beach. We love your uploads.
I used one of your tutorials to do victory rolls for halloween a couple years ago. It came out awesome and unlocked a whole world of fun youtube tutorials I never had any idea existed or were within my capabilities. So thanks, you measurably made my life more fun!
I recently discovered your UA-cam Channel and it changed my life, because I am learning how feel sexy. I ever like pinup style, but I never tried because it was so difficult to me. You make it easy. Thanks very much from Spain.
Binge watching all videos because I'm doing hair and makeup for my friends pin-up photoshoot in a couple weeks and I'm out of practice with vintage hair haha
Sadly enough, my hair refuses to hold curls, especially in this damp Scottish weather. I need to curl it overnight and then wear a headscarf that covers every little strand of hair, otherwise I'll have weird straight bits in the front.
I wear a shower cap and a scarf on top of it. It looks silly, but it works to preserve the curl. If the curls get tousled, I can just give them a light brush and all is good.
This was super useful! Thanks Cherry! So bummed I'm going to have to miss your class in Toronto :( I'll practise my vintage hair a little more to make up for it!
Hello doll face I have been looking at your tutorials on victory rolls and 40's styles as my daughter wants me to achieve the style for her honours graduation on Wednesday 3rd July 2019 please wish me luck as I have never done this in my lifetime although I am 55yrs and she's 22yrs old your tutorials are the best by far once again wish me luck, one question what happens if I can't manage it as I might think it looks great but it could be rubbish.😩
Can you make a tutorial showing us the easiest way to accomplish a nice french roll? also any tips and tricks on how to make the look more "classy vintage" BTW YOU ROCK, LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!!
You are a life safer. I am playing Mrs. Daigel in The Bad Seed and I was terrified about doing my hair. She is such an important character and I was cast even though I am 20 years younger than the character and I wanted to stun them with my appearance being spot on. Now I can do just that. (You also look like Winona Ryder by the way!)
I got my hair cut a bit too short in layers, so it's been a challange to style pin up lately. Could you please do a Betty Page style video please? Love you're tutorials & have created some great pin up looks! Looking forward to these layers to grow out to do my big bangs again! Thanks!!!
Would it be possible for you to do a tutorial on styling short vintage hair? As life would have it, I no longer have long hair to do victory rolls or much of any of the traditional vintage styles. My hair is growing back but as of right now is about pixie length and I'm really struggling to style it into any type of vintage fashion.... thoughts? Suggestions? Help? Please? Lol P.S. I've been watching your channel for quite a while, ❤ your videos.
Can you do a video with tips for people who want to do a vintage hairstyle but have thin hair? i have tried to do some of your tutorials and I just can't do it. My friend who is a hairdresser told me sometimes it can be harder to do certain styles when you have thin hair.
Great info!!! Always have trouble curling my hair (thought maybe it was due to having crazy thick hair) but now I realize I was curling them without pinning and letting my hair cool.....giant oops on my part lol at least now I know thank you for all these awesome videos, they have helped me sooo much with my vintage style❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so so so so much for all your videos.. you are super awesome... very helfull for a gal like me who is going to Viva Next year for the very first time.!!!
I never tease my hair and yet my victory rolls always look full and shapely. I do have very full wavy/curly hair though. Teasing is terrible for hair and if it can be avoided it should.
J K yep me too, do you find that your hair has an almost Velcro effect when you roll it, people are always amazed at how few pins I use to get my rolls to stay up.
ever since i started vintage hairstyles by my experience i say that for me wet set pin curls work better cause i have such fine hair and with curling iron i end up like a bunch of wins but by wet set my hairstyles last even to 4 days i mean the elasticity of curls
So happy to have found this! Amazing tips! (If you could do a teasing tutorial I'd love it - my hair is thin and needs it but I have trouble getting it done.)
Hello doll. I'm wondering what to do with my hair now that is is extremely long, I don't want to cut it. It is also very thick. I'm having trouble doing vintage looking down-do's. Any suggestions? It's become so exhausting to try to do V rolls that my arms hurt. I've seen some video tutorials for vintage styles on 'long thick hair' but what some ladies consider long and thick, is not really long and thick to me. Thx!
I love all things vintage... But I live in a very windy city, cape of storms in south africa... I kind of gave up styling my hair. I just do the make up 😉
What do you advise for naturally curly hair, but there are no super tied so I can't brush them (don't no if it's clear) anyway, what do you advise to do victory rolls?
Thank you so much for this I always do pin curls and set them like my gran showed me but I haven't been using wax and get lots of fly aways.. so I will need to invest in some of that. Any brand recommendations?
when I was younger, I did not tease my hair, while doing victory rolls, and it ended up looking really patchy, because you could look right through the sides on a sunny day... :/
+Cherry Dollface I know you have done tutorials on vintage styles with long hair, however my hair is waist length. It is possible to still do something vintage with it? I really love dressing 40's!
There are tons of things you can do with long hair. You can do plenty of updos. Not all women of those times wanted to cut their hair, so you're good to go. Milkmaid braids, chignons and victory rolls are a good option for an authentic look without cutting your hair. I recommend looking up ''Alicia Vintage'' here on UA-cam.
hey! i love your videos and know you're often taking requests for new videos. my request is mixing pin up prints. i have lots of polka dots and stripes and freak out about mixing them, but know you totally can. Any tips? Thank you!
Mm Mm I have very thick, very straight hair down to my bottom and when teasing, using wax and spraying it stays where I want it. The rest of my hair doesn't stay curled but it doesn't really matter if your rolls are fab
I use cloth rollers overnight, works just fine. Hair & makeup for a vintage modeling job takes long enough in the weee hours of the morning. I'm not getting up even earlier to curl my long hair too.
I'd love to know what you tell your stylist when getting your hair cut. Curls lay so much nicer on ladies like yourself that have the right layers and bangs.
I ask for what's called a long middy. But, it's also known as a uniform layered cut. If you do a google search for the middy cut there are a ton of examples and diagrams out there to take to your stylist!
Hello beautiful Cherry Dollface, I have a problem trying to get victory rolls because I have no hair due to medications that made my hair fall out plus a very large scar on the top to back of my head. I have been wearing real hair full lace wigs for over a year now and I have trouble getting victory rolls ( this is because I mainly cannot tease the wigs ) and I have to avoid the hairline as it would be seen as a wig easily. So ever since I had to cut off my hair all I can do is pincurl my hair and put in a hair accessory. (Not that I don't think that it is a great style), I'd just really like to do something different and I love the look of victory rolls on me. Please if you can help or know of a person on UA-cam who can do amazing vintage hairstyles in wigs I would really appreciate it. thank you. xxxx Miss Jelly Blossom
You might try making your rolls using bun doughnuts. You cut them so they are more of a long cylinder. You roll the hair around the doughnut. Gives a bigger look without teasing. If you leave some longer curls down along your hairline you should be able to put the rest up in the rolls. Though with a good lace front wig and a bit of work a full roll look should be possible.
Wig hair is different and can be styled without teasing. I would suggest getting a wig head that you can pin your wig to and style it off of your head. You actually have the benefit that other girls don't have! You can see all the way around it to get everything perfect and smooth!
Wow, that was really useful! I liked that you showed the "don't". Now I see some of the reasons why my rolls have never come out quite right.
You just taught me what teasing is for. I never really understood teasing. Now i do. Thanks!
I don't do any pin up style but I love watching you're videos . Thanks
I never wear any sort of makeup or touch my hairstyle all, or wear vintage clothes or cook but I still watch every one of Cherry's videos 😂
+Madhattersteeparty 😊

So helpful! Thanks. I'd love to see some vintage graduation looks.
This is the most helpful video I've watched regarding vintage hair. Thank you!
My mum gave me a victory roller but I still had trouble. After seeing this I'm super excited to try again!
Binge watching all videos because I'm doing hair and makeup for my friends pin-up photoshoot in a couple weeks and I'm out of practice with vintage hair haha
This may be my favorite vintage hair video of yours, Seriously I've done this ALL and at the same time!!!! 🙄
I also live in Scotland and have the same problem.
This is the most useful best video you've even made thank you SO MUCH
This was super useful! Thanks Cherry! So bummed I'm going to have to miss your class in Toronto :( I'll practise my vintage hair a little more to make up for it!

Loooove Suavacita pomade for rolls!
Thanks for this video! It really is the small details that make the difference like the "landing strips" haha! I've never thought about that!
Can you make a tutorial showing us the easiest way to accomplish a nice french roll? also any tips and tricks on how to make the look more "classy vintage" BTW YOU ROCK, LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!!
That was a very helpful video! Thank you so much! Please more of these...loved it!
Oh how come I never saw your videos before, I love them! This was a great help!

I think u truly are one of the best!thank you Madam
I love Cherry so much! She's so beautiful and down to earth!! ❤️❤️❤️
Aww thanks!
+Cherry Dollface you replied!!!! I'm gonna cry! Lol 😭❤️❤️❤️❤️
You are great at what you do! Very useful tutorial and as always you are super cute and super fun!
I got my hair cut a bit too short in layers, so it's been a challange to style pin up lately. Could you please do a Betty Page style video please? Love you're tutorials & have created some great pin up looks! Looking forward to these layers to grow out to do my big bangs again! Thanks!!!
I have done a few of them!
+Cherry Dollface Found them, thanks! You're awesome 😁

your rolls are gorgeous!
I’ve tried victory roles before! I wish I knew this before! So I shall try these! 😁
Ok, I feel like such a dunce. These tips, now that I've seen them, are SO obvious but of course I didn't think of them. Thank you
Great info!!! Vintage wardrobe/clothing do's and don'ts!!!
this is very very helpful 4 me to master in my pinup styles wat a good idea to do a video for others like me to understand in a faster, quicker, way
Thank you so so so so much for all your videos.. you are super awesome... very helfull for a gal like me who is going to Viva Next year for the very first time.!!!
I've had droopy curls all my life! Will be changing that

Can u do a video with someone with kinky curls...like mine...that doesn't require me to straighten and the pincurl.
Thank you so much for this video!!! It helped me with the mistakes I've been doing!!

This video contains some very useful information! Thanks!
What do you do if you have frizzy hair? When I brush the curls -even overnight pin curls- the just frizz and fall.
Thank you very much, this was just what I needed! ~love! ♡
love it CherryDoll! thanks for another cute vid

Lady Luck pomade!
Helpful as usual, thanks for posting!!!
This video was REALLY helpful! Thank you!!
I’ve never used wax, I found it made my hair very heavy and dirty looking, I know you’ll say use only a tiny amount…but what brand should I buy? Xx
Do you have links for the wax and what type of brush to buy (I’m based in the UK and need some inspiration!)
Favorite video so far! :*
DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEAS FOR THESE LOOKS FOR WOMEN WITH SHORT HAIR / LONG BANGS?
i love love suavecita
when I was younger, I did not tease my hair, while doing victory rolls, and it ended up looking really patchy, because you could look right through the sides on a sunny day... :/

I'm going to ask a really dumb question:
I have naturally curly hair, do I have to curl it anyways to do victory rolls?
bomb now i know why mine always came out crappy lol
I learned so much!! Thank you!!
Do you have a go to Bobby pin? The ones I seem to always buy never hold. No matter how much teasing curling or spraying I do.
I get mine at Sally Beauty.
hey! i love your videos and know you're often taking requests for new videos. my request is mixing pin up prints. i have lots of polka dots and stripes and freak out about mixing them, but know you totally can. Any tips? Thank you!
Great idea!
My hair is stupid! I have very thin hair get it will NOT hold a curl! Is there anything I can do short of hel meting my hair in hair spray?
My hair is too long to do vintage hair in anyway, plus I have thick hair so it's too heavy to hold curls. I'll forever enjoy it though
Mm Mm I have very thick, very straight hair down to my bottom and when teasing, using wax and spraying it stays where I want it. The rest of my hair doesn't stay curled but it doesn't really matter if your rolls are fab
More video like this pleeeeeeeeease!!!!
Hey. Quick question. Where did you get your curling iron? I've been looking for one for myself but haven't found a good one yet.
Sally Beauty
loved the video! 😙 keeps my vintage hair perfect and on a roll! hahaha pun not intended
Super helpful, thank you!
thank you cherry for everything
zero dislikes!!! sista we made it!!!
Perhaps you already have but I'd love to see something like this done for shorter lengths.....thank you!!!
Hey cherry what's your opinion on hot rollers? I have crazy thick hair. I mainly do foam rollers over night
I use cloth rollers overnight, works just fine. Hair & makeup for a vintage modeling job takes long enough in the weee hours of the morning. I'm not getting up even earlier to curl my long hair too.
I am not a fan of hot rollers... but overnight foam rollers are great! I have a few tutorials using them.
Thanks for the video! I'm just getting into this kind of style, and your videos are amazing! ^3^
What if we don't have wax could we use gel?
Loved the video
I have curly hair and it doesn't work the same way when I do it. Should I straighten my hair first?
Just blow dry it straight!
Love this video! Thank you!
This is super helpful!
I love your tattoos ❤❤ . I just subcribed to your channel
I absolutely LOVED this video! Your faces are so cute to say "no no no" ha ha
now i know how to fix the "landing strip"
What is a good drug store wax to use?? Or Sally's or Walmart?? I'm on a tight budget.💟
All this roll talk is making me want some sushi!
Waaaaa *-* 💖 looks easy but it's haaaard!!
Thank you for the video

Extremely helpful! Loved it

Laughed so hard at the "minnie mouse look", good vid
thank you!!! so helpful
Man, being a pin up babe is hard. Having second thoughts
What do you use for your wax?
What is the wax that you use?
I think she uses suavecita.
+ShePaintsMusic She often uses Suavecita pomade.
What gel is it that you use to smooth the curls?
Lady Luck pomade!
Great video !!
