    Indeed the movement is beautiful. If anyone is ever in doubt that P.P. has earned it's place at the absolute pinnacle of Geneva watchmaking, I need olny refer them to this video!!

      The case alone on this watch makes anything that comes out of A Lang & Sohne look pedestrian lol.

      @@burritomaker69 Without question! Not to mention that A. Lange has it's cases made by Glashutte Original. Don't get me wrong, if someone wanted to give me a Dato or a Lange 1 I wouldn't refuse it. But I consider them to be movement, and finish work specialists. Patek does it all, and damn good too!

      This watch was supposed to be for younger customers. More sportier than the 5170, more casual, larger.
      ( classic Arabic numerals instead "baton hour, " syringe style hands , tachometer scale).
      The lugs and pushers of the new ref 5172 are amazing ! I saw this one in person.
      The overall style relates to PP ref 1463.
      Why they should do new and another reference similar to the previous one ? This is PP , not Rolex.
      Patek already offers a classic dress-style chrono e.g current 5370 ( split) and non produced 5170.

    Why do you say in your videos that you don’t polish watches but when you seek to trade in the reps quote polishing as a significant refinishing cost…. I referenced the videos and the rep says you polish all your used watches…. Interesting!

    • @the1916companywatchreviews
      @the1916companywatchreviews  Рік тому

      Hi Thanks for your comment. We will refinish a watch if a) the watch does not meet the WatchBox standard for condition (which is roughly at least 90% of what the watch looked like when it was new), AND b) the watch is not considered "vintage" where refinishing would decrease the value of the watch. Some collectible watches are not actively worn, and those watches typically do not require refinishing. On the other hand, many watches have been actively worn, and thus will require refinishing before meeting the standards to be sold by WatchBox. The watch in this video had only minor swirls as mentioned by Tim and thus met our criteria to be sold without refinishing. For any questions about current inventory that you may be looking at, just reach out to us for more information about the service history of the watch. Hope this clears things up and thanks for your comment!

      No it doesn't. A Lange is thicker and has one and a half times *less* power reserve. Lange is become cliche now. Personally, I'd rank them as part of the holy trinity instead of AP but Patek still rules the watch game. Overall brand-wise, Patek has a much better history, they've revolutionised the industry, make more complicated watches. Finishing is better on the Patek, you've got much more attention to detail.
      Movement precision:
      Patek seal: -3/+2
      A Lange: -3/+3
      They're close but Patek absolutely walks over Lange as a company.
      Those who say Lange is better deep down know it isn't. Being edgy doesn't make you cool.

    • @thatmexicanguy2989
      @thatmexicanguy2989 3 роки тому +3

      @@patrickbateman529 nah finishing and attention to detail isn’t better on Pateks 😂 Lange’s are giving out those hand engraved movements whilst patek is just hand polished, and if we’re talking about accuracy… Rolex is +2 -2 seconds so that makes Rolex better than Patek 🤷🏻‍♂️ oh and the triple split looks so much better than any perpetual calendar Patek makes lol

      @@patrickbateman529 wait how did the revolutionise the watch industry?

    • @misteratoz
      @misteratoz 3 роки тому +4

      @@patrickbateman529 I up voted because you hit on some important points. The thickness and complications being key. Patek is still minute repeater king which is being best at the hardest thing to put in a watch. Patek also makes watches w/longer power reserve. I disagree about finishing, Lange has Patek beat from what I've seen, especially on uniformity across all price ranges, Patek has different levels. Lange also double assembles their watches which is ahead of everyone except the indies. Also Lange has done more innovations. Double and triple split are technically unmatched. The zeitwerk is pretty revolutionary. And anesthetics wise I prefer mose Lange dials to patek save the heaviest patek hitters. Patek still feels like king but Lange is closing the gap by innovating.
