    Great video, but a couple of things need some clarification. First, those are called Torx bit drivers and not "stars". Second, that is a tap handle not a thread repair tool. Third, you should try to use a bottoming tap to chase any threads that may be fouled due to the manufacturing processes and not a spiral point tap because the spiral point will not reach all the way to the bottom of a blind hole if it is needed. Forth and possibly the most important thing, be absolutely sure of the screw thread you are trying to repair. A couple metric and standard threads are very close to one another until you get about three threads in and then you will cross cut, this will cause major problems and a big repair bill....... If you are unsure about threads let some who is do it and save yourself a big headache.

    Lol, its been like 8yrs since I've changed my strings...I do rub in wax twice a year. But I'm only shooting maybe 50-60x a year. And they look fantastic

    They sell all in one tools that are kind of like leatherman pliers. Definitely recommended. Irreplaceable in the field

    I purchased a pro defiant, I had to chase the coating out of the Berger hole. Pisces me off a little, but lucky me I have a full set of tap and die, because I work metal as a hobby.

      I have out shot many people who work at archery shops. Doesn’t mean you would want me working on your bow

    I have a Bear Instict ( 2007) and a Martin Bengal (also old but dont know the year) Should I be using cam / serving lube for the bows ( like Teflon sprays or that Scorpion Venom cam/serving lube) ?
    thanks!

      There's usually no need to lubricate or wax any part of the string that's covered by serving.

    "This is something you can do at home. The first thing you're gonna need is a bow vise." 🤨

    • @bowhuntordie
      @bowhuntordie  4 роки тому

      If you're planning to do your own bow maintenance, a bow vise is a good thing to have. And they aren't super expensive either. 👍

    As far as your tap. Just using it in the same hole isn't the proper way to use it. Also that doesn't re thread the hole right. The proper way is to have the hole welded/filled. Then drilled out and re- taped. Depending how bad it is crossed threaded.

    "I only take my bow out to kill a deer then put it back". Please keep these weekend warrior posers off the internet and giving people tips/hints. You don't shoot enough to wear our a string in a bows lifetime! Furthermore its best to not wax a string at all. All you are doing is wearing it down further as your using wax and dirt to break it up further.
