Love my dogs!! GSP’s are awesome!
I rescued a GSP that I found lost and starving. He was probably mixed with black lab but looked like a GSP, was solid black with faint white ticking across his anterior shoulders and back legs. I named him Hank. Vet said he was about three years old when I found him and he was with me for the best 12 years of my life. He was my soul mate. He made it to 15 years of age when I had to send him on his way to the happy hunting grounds. He just got so old.....I loved every minute of my life with him even taking care of him as an old man. He was so loving and loved to hike when he was young. I miss him soooooo much. Mommy loves you Hank. See you some day on the other side. I know you are waiting for mommy at Rainbow Bridge. Love you son..........
I can really feel your message. Rip
Great Linda, Mine is 3 years old
And I'm 63..!!!
Awesome book that gives you step-by-step photos ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxTNB_zFBSnTo_O1PqfVUwgi7ityw0JlKt and directions to make every day project. I can see myself making a few of these projects and giving them as housewarming and holiday gifts!
We just rescued (she rescued us) a 6 month old Pointer, what an amazing dog. So amazingly smart.
That’s so wonderful! Glad you were able to help her and she can help you!
We did too , she’s 10 now and a beautiful dog.
I just bought a baby shorthair
I have two GSP’s right now and I can hands down say they’re the best, most affectionate dogs I’ve ever had. They just enjoy being around people, working, playing, or just relaxing. If you can provide them with enough exercise, I cannot think of a better family dog/hunting companion!
We 100% agree! If they get the exercise they need they are the best family dogs and hunting companions!
Fritz had us as a family for almost 14 years before he got a tumor in his back and he went to run with all his ancestors. That was almost 2 years ago and we're "almost" ready to be adopted again. GSPs are great family dogs, tireless, intelligent, sometimes stubborn, but overall great family members!
My black and white gets attention everywhere we go.😁
Nice to see the seniors in this video still enjoying their lives. I have a 13 year old Treeing Walker who's not only my shadow, but he's someone who all but knows what I'm thinking without a word being spoken. All these working breeds are very special.
For sure! Grandpa Rex is 14 and such a wonderful part of our family!
*I love this show and this book does not disappoint. **Trainr.pet** Some wonderful insights especially about learning all you can about your dog's breed. He spends a lot of time talking about that and how their breed really shapes behavior. With that and some research I understand my dog better and training went much easier.*
My GSP was the most amazing dog in every way!
I have a English Pointer (Orange and white ) and he is very affectionate and very playful as he is a puppy and he loves food and his walking of cause😂
My dad had one that he trained to hunt. It was the first dog I remember, I was maybe 3-4 years old, and I loved him to death, so kind and gentle. My dad loved to pheasant hunt with him. He would do anything to please my dad. Thank you for posting. His name was Hans von Duke II. We called him Duke.
great video thanks for the vision of German Shorthair...
Glad you liked it!
My father had one, that dog loved to play
absolutely love love love my two gsp they are without the most amazing sweet smart loving pups there has ever been wouldn’t trade them for the world
They are such wonderful dogs! We love them too ♥️
I own a 10 year old GSP bitch. We lost a big handsome GSP boy a couple of years ago in tragic circumstances. We have a new GSP boy pup who just turned 14 weeks. They are just the BEST dogs. Not used for hunting by me but lots of biking and running...the bitch is a therapy dog and does work in schools. Beautiful dogs. Beautiful nature. Can't see me ever not having a GSP around...like no other breed. Love them. Thanks for your vid. Lots of little nuances to recognize 🤣
I have had 5 GSP's in my present and past and agree 100% with your reasons to love them, they are awesome family dogs and hunting machines. Really enjoy your channel.
Thank you!!
My family has one his name is Jake and his 4 years old but his all chocolate drown sometimes he gets in trouble but we train he will always wants attention and loves playing outside and yes he does protect us. He also knows when we are sad or hurt he never leaves until we are happy again
Absolutely love the GSP. Unfortunately I had to put my beautiful girl down 3 weeks ago. She was only 7, but had a brain tumor. Will eventually get another one once I’m ready.
So sorry to here. Thanks for sharing!
So sorry to hear that brad :( truly the best dogs ❤️
Sorry to hear your loss - happy memories!
I’m sorry for your loss. 💙
I'm so sorry you lost you're friend. She would want you to give a home and love to another one. Best to you.
I love my gsp so much! The so pretty dogs, loves to cuddle, and and they are so careful with family. My Gsp is strong. She runs around everyday. And loves playing with her toys. and there so smart!
Always love to hear the passion in yall's voice! Thanks for sharing why you guys choose this breed and why you love it so much!
Thier intelligence is amazing. I miss my Sasha. She was obedient, loving, protective and just enjoyed anything you threw her way. She was 14 and passed in my arms looking into my eyes while I told her it was ok and we will met on the other side. I loved her dearly and she loved me . I never once hit her and she knew I would never. She was strong headed, but when I put my forehead to hers and told her good or bad ,she understood . She knew voice, whistle and hand clapping commands. Just loved to be in the fields.
Aboutslutly one of the best all around dogs. They are part of the family and have the softest ears when you pet them.
Love you Sasha. God please take care her, I love her more than myself.
I love my GSP, he just turned a year. Our Gunner is a very busy young man who loves life. He is my 4th GSP and he is the best. This breed is definitely not for everyone. Smart, obedient, full of energy, but can be a stinker! Nice to see a video on my favorite breed!

Currently have my 3rd generation GSP snoozing at 14 YO beside me. They are so active, so smart, so needy... I have just loved mine... thanks for this video... #Truth
That’s awesome! We have a 14 year old too, Grandpa Rex! The thumbnail photo actually encompasses 4 generations and a few extras that aren’t necessarily closely related!
We rescued our gsp, scooter when he was a year old. He'll be 10 in less than a month, but he's still as hyper as always, and such a cuddle bug when he wants to be
I was told mine would calm down around ten years old. Mine is 5 and still acts like a puppy. An 80 pound puppy.
@@hellyeah2299 dam your gsp weighs 80 pounds? My gsp weighed 71 pounds I have been around a lot of gsp in my life and never came across one that weighed 80 pounds but anyway cool man he must be a beautiful big boy 😃😃
I love GSP.
Have had them for 12 years and it gets better all the time 💓
I have had GSPs for forty five years and will always have at least one . I just got a 8 week old male puppy. We have always done obedience training and got titles on most all of our GSPs . We don’t hunt but we hike and plan on dock diving with him next season along with barn hunting. The only other problem that this breed can get is OCD .
This is the cutest video! Great job making and editing.
Well thank you!
My grandson left his GSP with me because he couldn't take her and I'm so glad he did. She is so smart and affectionate. Very high energy. She loves to run and play. Sinja loves to smuggle and yes she thinks she is a lap dog.
I love my Kurzhaar - one of the best breeds
I just got a gsp puppy yesterday and he is so nice and energetic. I’m so excited for the years to come
My 10 1/2 month old GSP boy Beaumont 🐶 says 👋. We love your channel!
Hey Beaumont 👋🏻 thanks for being a fan!
It’s a pity that I don’t speak English, but the video is very pleasant!
Everything both of you said is 100% correct! Great summary of this fantastic breed!
Whatever it is.. I am just impressed the way the dog looks.. It's coat, colour, stance and demeanour. It's a piece of canine artistry.
Thanks for watching!
Best dogs I've owned
You guys are awesome! We're getting our new puppy in a couple weeks. It's the first one I've had in a long, long, time. I trained moth of my girls years ago with decent success. I've been watching your videos non-stop in prep for getting our new family member. Your new school mentality on training really makes sense and I look forward to putting it to use. Keep up the great work!
Same
Oh that’s awesome! Congrats on your upcoming new puppy! Glad our videos have been helpful!
Your videos have brought me much joy!
I miss my old (d. @17 years) GSP, if I was 20 years younger I would get another one.
He was a loyal, loving and intelligent companion and wonderful with the children
and grandchildren. He was a "velcro dog" unless he noticed an open door to the
outside; then he would "escape" Yet, he never ran away from the house -- Just
circled the propety until he was inticed by cookies!
You are doing an excellent job training them. I have been around a few GSP kennels but none train with waterfowl. Nice retrieve on a Canadian Goose!
Thank you!! Nix is a little stud muffin!
i had one for 11 years .we loved each other to death .kept him alive till the last minute where i had to let go.one of the best dog i ever had and i had plenty.he was tick color as well.
Thanks for watching! Sorry to hear of your loss.
These are wonderful dogs. I recommend them as one of the best family pets you can buy. Please keep breeding healthy stable pet dogs because we have a serious national shortage. Stay safe and healthy
Totally agree 👍!!! Love them so much 🥰
Thanks guys!
my super loved kind of dog.. i love them all.. but pointer are the best absolutely ..
I had one they love being a lap dog needs lots of space to run will be your best friend
You got it!
I really enjoy all of y’all’s videos after a five year stent of no puppy’s at the house just finished dogs on the preserve I just pulled the trigger and bought a liver roan male gsp
Thank you! And congrats on your new puppy!
GSPs are truly some of the most intelligent dogs you can own. It's true that they can run all day then spend time on the couch. Very protective too. They will take care of you.
We rescued our GSP and now he’s our Angel! He is so cute and inocente dog and I would like to see him more defense with a bullies dogs!!
I owned a Boxer and a GSP both were awesome!
However, I never had to worry about the GSP
attacking the postman or anyone else.
The GSP would just lay on his chase lounge on
the front porch and gently take the doggie biscuit
that the postman offered.
The Boxer would have to be crated in the house
when we saw/heard the mail truck (the Boxer
had a grudge towards that guy!)
Love mine! They have quite the personality
They are wonderful dogs. My girl would run 10 miles for cross country training and be ready to go as soon as she got home. Once she swam 500 yards across a river following a goose. I miss her terribly. This video is heart warming
The ticked ones are perfectly cammoflauged for when you get that 1" or 2" of snow that doesn't quite cover the grasses and weeds.
I love my Rough Tough Kennel too.
i love how good you do with GSP i have one who is 8 weeks and i just love her so much
Thank you! Congrats on your new puppy!
Wait till it gets older you will love him more....
Anna-Maria Smith they are a lot of work as puppies, mine was anyways. Puppy biting was a huge issue but they do settle down after a few months. They truly are great dogs!
I was concerned with a GSP handling the cold, I am in Georgia where we dont have harsh weather but i do travel to hunt throughout the season our puppy will be ready in July.
I own a 13 year old gsp. Had her in apt all her life, still. Her young years she could be very distructive if i dared not to run her in the mountains trails or the park.i do agree with all in the video. Cant see her as an outdoor kennel hunting dog. She is always putting her head in my lap. She gets along super with my daxie and cat and the new ddr gsd puppy. Loves kids as well
I agree with all that you have said about the breed! But you must have people try a German Wirehair Pointer (GWP). Very good hunters, exremely good pets, a little quirky and insecure at times but not just a hairy version of a GSP. We have both and feel the GWP is the undiscovered addition to your hunting/family life. Can't minimise the extreme need for exercise daily but just as watching your dogs Hunting gives me an endorfin release! Can be prey driven but if introduced to cats early things are fine. Remember a tired pointer is a great dog , so loving.

You guys are awesome... GSP's what a dog..
Ahh thank you 🙏🏻!
I LOVEE THIS. My family and I have own a lot of gsp, weimaraner and beagles. We live on a farm, and when I moved to the city a while ago, my neightbour had a gsp and it broke my heart to see her dog in the appartment. She took the dog on walks but those type of walks are not enought for this breed. People now get gsp because they are beautiful dogs, but they have a llt of needs, physically and mentally. And because I’ve seen how happy they are with a big area to explore and run at home, everytime i see one in an apartment... i feel like they are slowly killing the gsp spirit and personality. They are the most gentle and loving dogs i’ve ever had. All they wanna do is to have a job and be around their family.
Our GSP picked up dockdogs in 2 weeks, and sled pulling the same day! I’ve had english pointers and tons of other breeds, but GSP is the best! Super smart, and will do anything you want them to do! Our daughter loves her GSP way more than her whippet, and that’s because the GSP tolerates kids every second of the day
They are so smart! Sounds like you have a very special dog!
Yeah they sure know how to escape... good dove hunting dog.
The only hurdle to get over with GSPs is the amount of exercise needed. After that, I can't imagine a more well rounded dog.
They definitely are a higher energy breed that needs to have a job and work!
I find that it's typically they need more mental stimulation than physical!
They definitely need a combination of both!
@@StandingStoneKennels Yes, they need both. We had two English Springer Spaniels, different dog, but still have the same dominant hunting dog traits. They needed a lot of daily hard exercise. The stamina of the Springer was impressive. But they are also bright dogs that need a job to occupy them mentally. If you do not give them a job, they'll invent one themselves and it was always something you did not want. They are demanding dogs but the rewards, if you can treat them well, are worth it. GSPs are very much the same in those areas though pointing dogs are different than flushing dogs.
Awesome Great Review thank you 👍👍🇺🇸 The Vermonter
i also have three gsp.i love them 🧡
Got gsp too, and this is true, sometime they are a little bit to smarth! Love that dog
the grey eyed GSP made me cry. I love dogs and I love GSPs the best!!!!
Miss my GSP every day and hope to have another some day.
You forgot my favorite....soft pointer ears. 😁😁
my puppy gsp is realy playfull and he has got me trough a lot when my gana is what we call one of my grandmothers she passed away an i just couldn't acssept it he is my light trough the dark path
Really loverly 🐶
4:02 that's the same thing I said when I first saw one! Now, I really want one. 😩 I need to buy a few acres first.
We just picked one up at shelter. She is beautiful and has become a part of our family. Would it be hard to train her to hunt at age nine? Do you have any videos on how to train older dogs? Thanks.
I love my German shorthair
We love ours too ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🖤🤍🤎
Sweetest dog on earth.
#agreed! Do you have one?!
I love every breead of dogs🐾🐾🐶🐕
My gsp opens the kennel of my other dog. He’s seen us do it so often. Too smart for his own good is right lol
Hahaha that’s trouble!!
Ha! :)
There are shorthairs and then there are just other dogs..... I won’t ever go without one
Hello!! hope you guys are good!
Love your videos.
Quick question:- What would you recommend between English Pointer and GSP for someone who does not plan to hunt with them? Only between these 2.
Regards
I just rescued a 18 month old GSP that was too much for the owner who wanted a pet. Scout joined the family and with Hemi (also a GSP) they are great friends. Taking Hemi to hunt Chukars tomorrow. Wish Scout was ready because he has it all but his recall is iffy. Next September he'll be out on the first date we can schedule
Couldn’t agree more. Cracking dogs. Good looking too.
I love my GSP mix! He is almost 3 now and I adopted him when he was 4 months old. I've had issues with him since the beginning because he cannot control himself around people - he gets too excited and starts jumping and barking... He is very sweet with everyone in the family, but any other person is just impossible to greet without a huge fuss. It has made it almost impossible to let him off-leash in the dog parks but I live in a city and can only take him to the countryside on the weekends. With all his energy I feel very bad for him but I don't know how to help him. I've been to 4 trainers, but none of them have helped me with this. If anyone has any piece of advice on how to calm him down, please let me know. We both will be very thankful!!
Beautiful dogs
I m pakstani
Thank you!
The best breed in the world
Very good video
So cool , I love these dogs , I have 8 of them , God bless
Uli N. , yes I breed them and I also do lots of bird hunting , I usually take 3 to 4 dogs when I go out , I started with 1 and I felt in love with the breed
The pointers I grew up with all had long tails
They’re super active!!! A bit difficult if u think of having one as just a house dog.... not good for a nyc apartment for sure.... my x husband had to give his away and he wasn’t even a year old yet.... too much to handle in an apartment. But I loved him & miss him so much! Very loving dogs
Mine needed about an hour of walking twice a day.
So, thats 2+ hours dedicated to walking the dog.
Mine lived to be 17 years; as he got older he
slowed down a little ... But not much .... And he
had a beautiful disposition up to and on the
day he died.
couldn't agree more with this video, owned em over 40 years now..... ounce you get past the high energy youll love em…. I personally love the energy my dogs are with me every minute they can be.... and that energy carries over into the field... I prefer the GSP over other dogs cuz of all the reasons you just watched... but one big reason is they are just frign durable and tough! and loyal to the end...
So true!!
Very nice 👌 👍
Yep!!! I like to have one German shorthair
I’m on my second shorthair after losing my first one after 13 years. Very well rounded intelligent dogs for sure. I will always own a shorthair until I’m too old to properly exercise them.
They are awesome dogs! Thanks for watching.
I adopted from a no kill shelter what I thought was a working lab (my favorite breed), I always had labs but when I got my girl home something was off. She had spots under her (liver color) solid dark chocolate coat.... This wasn't a lab. Then it hit me shes a GSP. Took her out on the boat (she never been but did ok), took her swimming at a lake (she cant swim!), oh lord do I have some training. Shes 1 and a half. But wow is she so affectionate and careful, kind to other dogs and non-intrusive. Scares me when she swims, she stops using her back legs sometimes and I see her struggle, I have to jump in and rescue her (lift her hind end up and show her how). eek. She sometimes swims great but other times just stops using her hind legs and splashes for her life.
Hi guys. Can you tell me please what toy do you give your gsp’s to chew on?
Our gsp destroys everything. Plus swallows bits. Which is why we need something to give her that she can chew on without swallowing and causing her harm.
Have you ever considered a German Wirehaired Pointer (GWP)? If so do you stay clear due to the coat for catching burs?
Sure do miss our Ginger..best dog ever aren't they all...can't have one just now( sr apartment) but EVERY single time I see a GSP@park or wherever we get to be fast friends even if but for a few moments...I grew up with GSD/German Shepard Dogs and more than a couple so called mutts but my heart belongs to the GSPs now...thanks for this video.Hope my former walking companion is running free...
Thanks for watching.
Ай КРАСАВЦЫ КУРЦХААРЫ ! У меня был Грей ! Люблю Курцхааров ! 👏👍❤️💕
Best pheasant dog on the planet.
Agreed!
The black head color is within specification?
Sou apaixonado por essa raça, aqui onde moro é muito difícil de encontrar, quase impossível 😔
GSP on my short list of dog I looking at.
GSPs are the best!
However, you do have to walk them
at least a couple of hours a day
I'm not a hunter; so my (late) GSP's
temperment was what I was
looking for in a dog. If I was
20 years younger, I would get
another GSP
Mine is such a cuddle bug! Definitely a good companion
My 4year old liver Dieter is my friend. Yeah the big guy still thinks he's a puppy and wants to lap. He's not a trial dog. But he's strictly business in the field. Can never see myself without one.
Are they good for duck hunting as well? I love the GSPs and would love to get one as a duck dog. My only concern; would they hold up to canadian fall weather in the swamp for hours?
Yes these dogs don’t stop.... hot cold rain or sun they will love it and they are great duck dogs!
After all they r bird dogs
