Btw! The “uh” sound you hear a lot with korean singers is actually the korean “eo” vowel. Its very similar but it’s round like the “oh” sound, but not quite there either.
Ace of Maya honestly uh and eo are the same lmao i just think uh is better when explaining to foreigners and people who know less about korean language because its easier to picture in the head contrary to eo which is used more in romaji / romanization , many people are probably unfamiliar with
오유림 😓 no not rlly? agree that “uh” is the easiest way to teach the “ㅓ” vowel, but the western “uh” is rlly not the same as “eo” in krn. It’s one of the less obvious sounds that can give you an “accent” in English or in Korean (with l/r sounds being a more obvious tell). Try doing a stereotypical valley girl line while replacing all the “uh”s w/ korean ㅓs. Or just listen to a krn who doesn’t speak eng pronounce “sun” or “nun” - or ask a foreigner to pronounce “sunhee” or “벌”. “Eo” is also usually classified as back, while “uh” is central. Sohyang used to have a very bad technique, but now it's totally different, it took a lot of work and dedication to do what she does today, I love her because she is living proof that if you want something you should strive to achieve it, she is a really amazing vocalist and one of the best out there!

Watch her other performances: - Lean on Me - Bridge Over Troubled Water - O Holy Night - It's Only My World - You Raise Me Up - Everyone - How Far I'll Go (Yeah, she played Moana's Korean Version for the movie)
Sohyang is an ideal vocalist. When watching her in majority of performances, her singing sounds so natural as if she's simply speaking, Even when belting she doesn't sound stressed or taking much effort. Its natural. As someone said in another video, welcome to SoHyang's World! :).You will be bombarded with requests related to her. But with watching her videos, you will manage to give great examples of healthy technique, connected voice etc. etc. She is blessed with a legedendary voice which she uses to spread God's word. Enjoyed your video very much and glad you took the time to react to Sohyang's Arirang Alone. Appreciate how you offer your observation from the perspective of instructive feedback on vocal techniques. It gives laymen like me some technical confirmation of this performance. People always remember Sohyang's iconic BB5 in this stage but I was glad to hear you talk about her control so much, including her use of crescendo, light mix, and how connected her voices are for transition. Sohyang may be the finest technician when it comes to vocal skills I will ever know. The only time people comments on her misses (maybe too strong a word here - some imperfections perhaps) happens due to fatigue or health condition. She is a cancer survivor and continues to work hard to protect her health and voice. I hope you will get to react to more of her amazing performances. Not necessarily a technical aspect but Sohyang is unique in the way she convey emotion with her voice, I recommend you take a look of her iconic cover of "Bridge Over Troubled Water" at ua-cam.com/video/C6iHh4yBxCo/v-deo.html
Leo! I still hear a head dominant mix from the start, and I very well could be wrong. Most vocal coaches agree though, but it’s not important. She is a phenomenal singer, and has the best technique I have ever heard.
I was lucky to be in her concert a few days ago and men, she was outstanding. So Hyang is by far the most humble yet talented artist that I’ve ever known. So happy that you react to her. Looking forward more of ur future vids.
I love this performance, it's one of my favorites from her along with Breathe. Your videos are so educational I love them so much, I learned so much about vowel choices and which ones are easier to use while watching them. Sohyang is also a vocal teacher (at a Korean university I believe). She's a gospel singer, has been one for more than 20 years.
Holy, that's the first time I've seen you get goosebumps hahah. Thank you for reacting to So Hyang :) I love her voice so much, she always gives me the chills when she sings. I love your explanations, they are easy to follow/understand and really interesting. I hope you check out more of her songs :D
SoHyang is an amazing vocalist . She takes my breath away every time i listen to her. I literally tear up and get goose bumps listening to her performances. Not many singers have that effect on me and none quite like her. Please react to more of her stuff like Lean On Me which she sang in front of Michael Bolton on a show- he asked her to perform at his concerts over in Korea as he was so impressed by her. Also Bridge Over Troubled water is another great performance.
My daughter graduated with a degree in musical theater. They hammered theory into her. Now she doesn't enjoy music because she hears math. I wonder if you have the same experience focusing on mouth and vocal chords vowels etc. No matter. I love what you do and learn so much.
Today I learned that what I thought SoHyang did was already amazing but when you described technically all of the conscious thought and work put into sounding like she does I'm just stunned at the artistry and mechanics of it all. She is most definitely a master! Thank you for your informative and entertaining video - keep up the good work! : )
*Songs to react from Sohyang:* - Bridge over Troubled Water (from Immortal Songs) - Lean on Me (Michael Bolton appears on this Immortal Songs ep) - Raise me Up (also from Immortal Songs) - Dream (composed by her, from I Am A Singer Legend) - I Have Nothing (YES THE WHITNEY HOUSTON COVER) And all... I said all... of the musics that she 'covered' in King of Masked Singer (she won ten of them hehe), because all of them are wonderful. You aren't gonna find them on youtube, so you can watch on *cough cough* vimeo *cough cough.* I personally like Breath's and Home's stages. I am a huge fan so I cannot decide between them. I am sorry for this huge commentary hahaha. Please react to her and tell me if I have been imagining that her voice is THAT GOOD because I am suspicious... because I love her so much. Oh, sorry if there's anything wrong, I do my best in English but maybe it's bad for you to understand, I'm from Brazil.
I. Love. You! You are the greatest person out there critiquing her right now! Very detailed and your reaction explains a lot about what SoHyang is capable of!
I come back here from time to time, because yeah, she's so amazing. But overall, because this is my favorite video of Sam reacting to someone... He falls in love with her voice and technique and I can see that time and time again without it getting boring. 😍
New subbie~ i really love sohyang and I'm so glad you enjoyed her performance. It's so cool to hear you analyze the performance and I thought the mouse in cathedral comparison was really interesting.
Wow~ Soo fantastic, emotional and beautiful ! She must be came from heaven ! She is an angel. So Hyang is the best singer in this world ! Now early in the morning. Thanks.
If you want to hear Sohyang singing in English you should watch her covering Lean on Me and/or Bridge over Trouble Water. Trust me, you are not gonna regret It. But also I would like you to react to Sohyang singing Fate which in my opinion is so underrated. I mean, in that song she was able to sustain a high note for ten seconds! *PS: You are an amazing teacher! I'm not a lot into music but I like the way you explain how things work behind the sounds and techniques the singer is using. Somehow, I find it very easy to follow. ^.^*
I keep coming back to this video cause A) I love the song so much B) I love her version of it C) and I love you analyzing it. I'm "only" a foreigner living in Korea, so I can't say I've lived with the song my whole life, but back in 2015, I practiced dancing to it and performed at the different palaces in Seoul. This song is deep to my heart and being a history fanatic, the story behind it makes it even more worthy of goosebumps, when listening. Once again, I cried while hearing her sing. Thank you for this video and giving me the chance to come back and re-watch it as many times as I want to!
thank you for posting these videos. it's always an incredible experience to have someone talk about something with such expertise and passion for the craft. this made my night.
PLEASE REACT TO EXO Chen and Baekhyun REALLY DIDN'T KNOW stage. You'll be amazed. You'll be amazeeed~ Good job with the reaction tho. I learned a loooot
I just loved this video. Just at the end of it I realized that I was smiling the entire video hahaha my cheeks hurt because of you now. It is very satisfying to see how you analyze and get involved with every part of it. Thank you so much for the video and keep up the great work 💓😍😘 PS: I also had goosebumps with her singing haha 😜

This is one of my absolute favorite videos on youtube.com 🙏 I come back to watch it every now and then because I love Sam's reaction and how impressed he is 😂 Sohyang is amazing 💯
You are just amazing! Learned so much about singing from your videos, I mean, I don't sing and haven't tryed harder to either, BUT you make it so easy for us to do it, you explain every single detail to the sounds and even help out with a litte "how to do it". Defenitly THE BEST channel I've subscribed to in years...
You requested more videos from So Hyang, I also know you are a fan of “The King Of Masked Singers” you may want to check out her performances as the reigning Queen, she performed under the guise of Mood maker, she currently holds third place with 6 consecutive wins. All of the songs she performed were amazing. As a suggestion I would like to also introduce you to Son Seung-Yeon another Masked Singer Queen who at 24 Year Old had 8 wins she performed under the name “the East Invincibility”

@@SamJohnsonVoice indeed! I love how u explain things. To be honest, i know nothing about vocal lesson, terms, etc. I just like singing, u know.. Please react to more of her stuff like Lean On Me which she sang in front of Michael Bolton on a show- he asked her to perform at his concerts over in Korea as he was so impressed by her. Also Bridge Over Troubled water is another great performance.
You should react to Sohyang- Fate

Oh this famous 15-second note!
"I got goosebumps "
Who doesn't ???? 😂😂😂😂😂
YES the queen of korea
she's gotten even better! if you check out some of her newer versions that she's done on tour, you'll be in love!
*Songs to react from Sohyang:*
- Bridge over Troubled Water (from Immortal Songs)
- Lean on Me (Michael Bolton appears on this Immortal Songs ep)
- Raise me Up (also from Immortal Songs)
- Dream (composed by her, from I Am A Singer Legend)
- I Have Nothing (YES THE WHITNEY HOUSTON COVER)
And all...
Maria Luisa Araujo YES PLEASE PLEASE REACT TO ALL OF THESE!!! :)
Breathe, Home, Hug Me ❤️❤️❤️
I. Love. You! You are the greatest person out there critiquing her right now! Very detailed and your reaction explains a lot about what SoHyang is capable of!
8:12 i learned if i add more uh it will probably fix it
@@k_levande "probably"
I come back here from time to time, because yeah, she's so amazing. But overall, because this is my favorite video of Sam reacting to someone... He falls in love with her voice and technique and I can see that time and time again without it getting boring. 😍
im so proud of her as a korean,,,,
i knew you would love this! i've listened to this one for years and still gives me goosebumps each time i listen!
She performed for "Lean on me" in front of Michael Bolton and it was AMAZING!

Kim Yixing definitely one of my favorite songs she sings. She absolutely destroys that song in such a good way
New subbie~ i really love sohyang and I'm so glad you enjoyed her performance. It's so cool to hear you analyze the performance and I thought the mouse in cathedral comparison was really interesting.
Welcome to Sohyang World!

Sohyang
World
Hope you like her performance
Your commentary is very helpful and thanks so much, plus she is indeed amazing and has a beautiful voice
i prefer her singing in korean but they're both awesome performances
i adore her!She is the best.Hope i will see more reaction to her
Ugh her mind! She is a vocal legend!!!
I always get chills so beautiful
I keep coming back to this video cause A) I love the song so much B) I love her version of it C) and I love you analyzing it. I'm "only" a foreigner living in Korea, so I can't say I've lived with the song my whole life, but back in 2015, I practiced dancing to it and performed at the different palaces in Seoul. This song is deep to my heart and being a history fanatic, the story behind it makes it even more worthy of goosebumps, when listening. Once again, I cried while hearing her sing. Thank you for this video and giving me the chance to come back and re-watch it as many times as I want to!
I've never seen your face and reaction in such shock! I got goosebumps the first 100 times I played it. It's just that awesome!
I learned the importance of vowel sounds. I love your channel. :)
thank you for posting these videos. it's always an incredible experience to have someone talk about something with such expertise and passion for the craft. this made my night.
PLEASE REACT TO EXO Chen and Baekhyun REALLY DIDN'T KNOW stage. You'll be amazed. And also the song you're asking for in your last reaction of them is 'DROP THAT' in their EXOluXiOn Concert in Tokyo Dome. Please react to their songs in that concert. You'll be amazeeed~ Good job with the reaction tho. I learned a loooot
COSMIC OH MY you need to go away

COSMIC OH MY lol I didn't even do anything. I'm just suggesting what I think he needs to see so that I can learn about that too. Whats going on? ㅋㅋ
I love your analysis and your reaction. I wish I would have had a vocal coach like you when I was singing Rock. Keep on helping people sing better!
I just loved this video. Just at the end of it I realized that I was smiling the entire video hahaha my cheeks hurt because of you now. It is very satisfying to see how you analyze and get involved with every part of it. Thank you so much for the video and keep up the great work 💓😍😘
PS: I also had goosebumps with her singing haha 😜
The performance is mellow and intense at the same time. Brilliant!
I enjoyed seeing you lose your mind over how beautiful her voice is xD I had the exact same reaction the first time I heard her sing-
It still makes me cries everytimes and idk why. The sound of her voice touch the soul directly
Love the reaction! Please react to more SoHyang covers!

Coming back to this reaction after so much time makes me realize how amazing this performance and why you reacted like that.
So glad I found this video. This is one of my favorite songs in the world. ❤️
This is one of my absolute favorite videos on youtube.com 🙏 I come back to watch it every now and then because I love Sam's reaction and how impressed he is 😂 Sohyang is amazing 💯
I love Sohyang
As a suggestion I would like to also introduce you to Son Seung-Yeon another Masked Singer Queen who at 24 Year Old had 8 wins she performed under the name “the East Invincibility”
ive literally been watching So Hyang for the past week straght lol and i finding pleasure seeing other peoples reactions to it. cause she really is phennomenal
You, officially become my favorite vocal coach on UA-cam. 💜
Thank you so much! I hope you learn something with each watch of one of my videos.
@@SamJohnsonVoice indeed! I love how u explain things. To be honest, i know nothing about vocal lesson, terms, etc. I just like singing, u know.. Like many people do 😊
But somehow your explanation make sense to me, the movement u said, echo, its really easy to understand!
What i really appreciate the most from u, is... U never indicating someone have 'bad' vocal (that makes sense?) instead u lead to many ways of singing, makes an insight for me that "oh, we all can sing". It makes me happy.
Embrace the diversity of voices and the way it sounds.
😄 i love that mindset.
You are the FIRST vocal coach reaction channel that sounds like you know what you’re talking about! Thanks for being talented! New subscriber now!
One of the best female singer in the world!
Thank you so much for reacting to her. I love your reactions 😂
Yeeeees she's a queen! And I love watching you explain a lot of things that she does, really interesting!
I'm going to repeat myself but her performances at King of Masked Singer are BOM she singed different types of songs and all of them gave me chills like "dear love" "breath" "mona lisa" "hug me"
Keep the good work, I'm actually learning a lot!
I don't know much about vocal techniques, so the fact the vowel "uh" being easier was new to me!
I'm such in awe of Sohyang's voice, I just love watching other people reacting the same way too, I really hope you'll do more reactions to her in the future!! thanks :D
React to sohyang mona lisa💕
She's so amazing. Blessed with amazing talent. I would be so honored to meet her
More Sohyang!!!
I Always come back to that performance, her voice is so beautiful
She’s my favorite female vocalist! My favorite male is Dimash Kudaibergenov! I would love to see you do an in depth analysis of him like this as well!
