  • Michael Feroli, JPMorgan chief U.S. economist, joins 'Squawk on the Street' to discuss the Federal Reserve's rate cuts, if a rate cut of 50 basis points is an overreaction, and how to minimize the market's panic before cutting rates by 50 basis points.

I feel investors should focus on under-the-radar stocks, considering the current rollercoaster nature of the stock market, Because 35% of my $270k portfolio comprises plummeting stocks that were once revered. I don't know where to go here out of devastation.

The safest approach I feel to tackle it is to diversify investments. By spreading investments across different asset classes, like bonds, real estate, and international stocks, they can reduce the impact of a market meltdown.

@@JuneTalley It's often true that people underestimate the importance of financial advisors until they feel the negative effects of emotional decision-making. I remember a few summers ago, after a tough divorce, when I needed a boost for my struggling business. I researched and found a licensed advisor who diligently helped grow my reserves despite inflation. Consequently, my reserves increased from $275k to around $750k.

Next month, when everyone returns from vacation, because everyone knows that in the summer, people leave work to take vacations, but return to the job market after the summer is over. In October, when the market has recovered, interest rates have come down, inflation has come down, you who are rooting against the Biden government will come here and say: "We did it, Joe"?

Powell is mortified by the prospect of being the next Arthur Burns. Little to no chance we get 50 bps.

Well in the 1950s the rate was like 2% so I guess if you are saying that American companies are addicted to cheap money then are we not like the 1950s? Yes we had an inflation run with the baby boomers in the 1970s-1980s and oil crisis and unions and all that jazz but it's not like that is normal either.

My colleagues had a good laugh at me when I told them I started my journey with $50k capital and how I accumulated over 6 figures within a span of 7 months. They never believed me until I pulled out my P&L.

When rates were low the only reason things got expensive was because of supply issues from lockdowns. Onlyfans exception was real estate. Low rates weren't the cause of inflation.
