Tufting a CUSTOM PlayStation Rug

  • Today I hand tufted a PlayStation Logo rug with my AK-1 Cut Pile Tufting Gun!!! Gotta love a day spent with the rug machine.
    This retro PlayStation logo first came into my life when my brother got a PS2 many years ago. Ever since then I've loved its design. FINALLY, I own it in a tangible form, and amazingly, rug form!!!
    Materials and equipment:
    - AK-1 Cut Pile Tufting Gun
    - A custom built tufting frame (here's a video I made on how to build one: • DIY Tufting Frame )
    - Monks Cloth primary fabric (I often will also use the cheaper option of Jute Burlap)
    - 7oz Acrylic yarn (I use two strands at once)
    - General Purpose Flooring Adhesive
    - Spray Adhesive (heavy-duty)
    - cotton fabric as my secondary fabric (the backing)
    If you have any questions or want to see more of my art, please head over to my Instagram and DM me!!

    Flavor World Merch:

    #Tufting #PlayStation #Rug
    I used music from a few different sources!!!
    The first beat is produced by Bailey Daniel:
    • losing my mind
    The second beat by LethalNeedle: (such a good underground producer)
    • (FREE) MF DOOM x Earl ...
    And additionally yet another appearance by my good friend Yiction:
    open.spotify.c...
    Imagine if I tufted carpet for my whole house 😵
    Thanks for watching : )

    Very pleasant to watch. Would love to see what you come up with for a cleaner backing solution. If it figure it out please share. I love your concept for looser rugs. More negative space the better maybe. What about a skeleton? All the space between the bones. Holes in the eyes etc. Could look sick.

    • @FlavorWorld

      yoooo skeleton is such a cool idea. That'd be a wild rug. Thank you for that idea, Im thinking youll see something similar come to life on my channel in the next few weeks....

    Hey Drew! A few questions for you...
    1. Is weed legal in Minnesota?
    2. Can you use a tufting gun to put a Flavor World logo on the back of a denim jacket?
    3. How close together should each column (or row) be for the in between space to be undetectable on the other side of the art piece?
    Thanks!

    • @FlavorWorld
      @FlavorWorld  3 роки тому

      Hi Jarome!!! glad you found my content!!!
      1. Sadly, it is not, it's available for medical use, but we're behind the curve on legalizing it for recreational use
      2. YES!!!! You couldn't stitch directing onto the jacket, but you could make a patch (a mini rug basically) and then sew that on to the jacket!!!
      3. I use two strands of yarn at a time, and space my rows about one row apart. Does that make sense? like, however thick my yarn stitching is, I'll usually leave about that same amount of space before doing another row

      YESSS good question good observation.
      I've had a few yards of this monks cloth laying around from when i bought my tufting gun. I figured I may as well use it.
      Going forward, I'll continue to just use burlap, im just using up the monk's cloth i have left

    Do you recommend a loop pile or cut pile tufting gun?

    • @FlavorWorld
      @FlavorWorld  3 роки тому

      It mainly comes down to personal preference.
      Personally, I recommend cut pile. I like how the rugs look and feel with cut strands of yarn, and also i think the gun is lightly easier to use because it cuts the yarn for you when you're done tufting a line.
      Either way you'll be happy with it tho : )

    • @FlavorWorld
      @FlavorWorld  3 роки тому

      Thats a great question. I've never done it before, but I'm certainly hoping so!!! My plan is to sew them together and hope the thread doesn't get in the way of anything.
      I know they also sell very large cuts of monks cloth, but often those can be very very expensive. Ill definitely try sewing them together before I go that route : )

      Nope i use yarn bundles! they dont work quite as well as the cones, but I've had no problem with them overall, and if you find a good sale they can often be cheaper than the cones

      The AK-1 or AK-2 are super solid beginner tufting guns!
      I have the AK-1. The difference between them is Cut Pile vs Loop Pile, which is just basically how the yarn looks and feels.
      I prefer cut pile (thats what im using in the video) but it really just comes down to personal prefrence.
