Monta watch is stunning! Especially considering the price - what I love about the Rolex explorer are the curvaceous case flanks. The combination would be interesting (Rolex Case, Monta dial)
The Sub is a great watch, but they’re just so common, and it definitely wears big. It was my first luxury watch, but I haven't been wearing it much over the last few years. I have a 7-inch wrist and recently sold my modern Sub for a pre-Maxi Sub. The older Subs just fit so well. It literally feels like a completely different watch and has made me love the Sub again.
Your clasp is closing the opposite way because you have the bracelet on the wrong way. It is not supposed to be like that. So if it "gets you", as you say, swap it around.
I live in St. Louis. I have 8” wrist that is also very elliptical. I’m gonna go try the Monta out. They do look very nice. I believe they are sw300 movements consistently now.
Loved the video!! I really appreciate, and totally agree, with your thoughts on the submariner. I love everything about the watch from a design, historical, and cultural perspective but it’s size is just too big for my wrist
Looking at getting either the new 36mm explorer or the 41mm sub date. I’m hoping to own both one day but will have to settle with one for many many years. If you had to chose one to buy first which one would you buy? I’ve heard some people say the explorer starts to feel boring after a while, but I like the idea of it being very easy to wear on the daily over the sub. The sub on the other hand seems more interesting and the having the bezel would be handy, also the date feature is nice for the daily. Anyway would like to know your opinion, thanks a bunch and great video.
Personally, I prefer the minimalism of the explorer. I realized I don’t need a date or a bezel. I really NEVER used the bezel and it was simply more annoying to me when it was out of alignment. And bulkier. But it does look cool and can be fun to fidget with. Also, I’m not a diver so this was a needless complication. To the point about the explorer being boring… every watch can be boring if you’re wearing it on the daily. And every watch can spark moments of joy. It’s kind of like a relationship: do you want a piece of candy on your arm to show off and maintain, or do you want something simple and reliable? My best advice is buy what makes you feel joy. That joy may change over time. Try on a variety of watches to start and take videos in the shop. Don’t let attendants make you feel bad for looking at what you want to see!
Thanks for getting back to me. It’s honestly such a hard decision to make. I have a Cartier santos medium in the collection which I love and wear lots, just looking to add my first Rolex piece. The sub seems more fun and interesting but the explorer seems more practical and something I could still be wearing in my 60’s. Decisions decisions.
@@kyleapps5258 this is truly a hard decision. I think since you have a piece without date that’s medium size a sub would pair nicely. And the santos has rich history, can be the dress piece or daily depending on your occasion. I say sub is in your future.
Good choices. I bought the 41-mm sub first and the next year bought the 36-mm explorer. I wear the explorer daily and the sub on weekends. Some weekends I skip the sub without missing it. There is something about the explorer that draws you towards it. If you can get passed its size, it is a magical watch. Also, with the explorer, people won't notice that you are wearing a Rolex. Very unassuming. With the sub, you may see people zooming in on it.
Wow, so much love for the Monta (the only microbrand piece shown at a quarter the price)! Thank you all for the comments
Just from the video
The Monta Noble looks the best on your wrist, beautiful watch.
Great lineup though
The Monta Noble sunburst is out of this world, personally so much more eye-catching than the other timepieces

It really is. I wish they'd do a bit better job with the molding around the dial, it's dull in comparison. But lots right about this watch!
To an unknowing eye, I'd assume many would think the Monta is the most expensive one here.

What a great collection! I have the Noble in anthracite. Love it. Aiming to get that Explorer in the future! Thanks for posting.
Terrific collection…nice to see the side by sides!
Thank you so much!

This Monta looks so good.

well done, I like your detailed perspective on these watches qualities
Nice watches. Monta really does give you a lot for the money. I would love to have any of those in my collection.
Nice comparison, keep it up
size is nowdays is like the womens define it.... they assume that they should where a 42mm but enjoy the 38...
