Edit: can be cheesed really easily though but like if you bring anything that isn’t an optimised load out for explosives/fire it just can’t be done without immense effort.
I was incredibly under prepared for this mission, went from Escort to the incarnation of the “Objective: Survive” meme as I got overwhelmed and mulched.

I was so hyped to try and protect the mining ship but instead fromsoft gives me the most annoying enemies to fight and make Walter pay for it bruh
Just did this with a sky tank build using 2 apertif and 2 soup and it was super easy.
It was mostly a meme build for me because it takes forever to kill bosses compared to miniguns/shotguns but after this I swapped the soups for the coral nukes and brought it to the 3 final bosses + coral convergence and was surprised it also managed to get me a braindead easy S in all of them, 😢 wish I had tried it before because I had already done them with builds that require slightly more brain usage.

If anyone is still having trouble with this one, try the flame throwers. They count as explosive, and wreck the wheel enemies!

I gave it a try myself and SHREDDED it.
Use double earshot for the wheels, they die from one shot, catch them when they first come at you, when they turn, or when they go for the fire attack

try this mission with flamethrowers, it is ridiculously easy, those enemies are weak against fire and they die in 3-4 flamethrower hits if you dual wield, small light tank wheels are mandatory for this build btw other than flame and wheels go for extremely light weight

Wow, this shamed my previous builds- yet a simple missile hell turned it into one of the easiest missions in the game. I feel like I've cheated in a way- nice work, this made it super easy!

go Alula+ Coral Generator+ dual Zims with Vertical Missile Launchers and speedy but tanky balanced build... wrecks most of the wheels and has little trouble with the Coral MACs...

This mission turned from IMPOSSIBLE to almost like a walk in the park, just using a missile boat config with reverted legs like in this video, and sticking to the border of the combat area to limit enemy mobility. I used the same weapons as in this video, but change the FCS to the more appropriate FCS-G2/P10SLT.
What is with Miyazaki and adding death wheels to his games
The mission became 10x more easier for me when I used this loadout bruh
i came in with dual zims, songbird and a stun needle, i got my butt handed to me one cheek at a time
came back after noticing how FAST everything in this mission moves, came back with a heavy tetra- and missiles on every appendage the game lets you.
i tried dual soups, but i felt as though if they dodged the first shoulder, they'd just as easily dodge the 2nd
tried one soup, and one 12 cell vertical launcher, and paired with staggered shots from the handheld missiles launchers, it makes it alot easier to trap a single enemy in a balteus-esqe layer of explosives.
you can get a few moments of respite by landing on the large silos (do note they wont last long as the pinwheels will bust them)
its like a boss battle, your chances of winning are tied to your ability to dodge
you *can* trivialise the mission by hugging the mission borders, the pinwheels tend to bunch up against the wall and makes it alot easier to manual fire a salvo into them.
keep using assault armor when its off cooldown
This was the only time I changed my built completely so far. I haven't reached the ending of NG++ so who knows
this help me a lot but i change the FCS for more missile lock correction and speed aiming

Copied this build and S-Ranked the level on my second try. Hell, the only reason it took two tries might honestly be because I was still using the Talbot for my FCS. Swapped over to the Abbot and S-Rank was mine. Awesome build, my man.
Man this build turned S-ranking this mission from extremely annoying to first trying it
The FCS on this build however does not fit, you should definitely swap it for a missile focused one.
First time I used hand missiles in this game very cool.

I tried it with the abbot and failed so i tried the FCS-G2/P10SLT, it's one of the furlong ones made for missiles and it was cake. yeah the abbot has excellent close range but that's mostly for firearms, which you specifically dont use in this build.

Awesome build, thank you so much. I was having issues with this one but got it on first attempt.
Late to the party as usual but adding my strat here. Used heavy tank tread build, two jvln alphas, two songbirds. I kept A ranking it until I was able to beat it using only 1 healthpack. That may or may not be a qualifier. Basically you’re locking on one on one for each kill and trying to stay in the air hovering as much as possible. You’re not shooting all the time. You wait until each enemy slows or stops to fire at you. All you have to do is bide your time (within reason) then hit them with one alpha or one songbird, this stops them in their tracks, and unload a second for the kill. For all enemies. And try to only fire one weapon per shot (I had an issue where I got trigger happy and unloaded both triggers per shot which will see reload times screwing you). Took maybe 5 tries to get the timing on each enemies slowdown/stop pattern, ending with A rank for using 3 healthpacks, A rank for using 2 healthpacks, and finally S rank for using 1 healthpack. Hopefully this helps someone out there. Mostly because this strat requires almost no skill of movement, and the tanky build allows for more mistakes, making it a far more approachable strat for many players.
Edit: I made my own build based around yours which made this MUCH easier.
I didn’t optimize it because I got S rank first try, but it’s a really “brain off” build.

Thx a ton for this. I tried my regular build then my tank build and both failed and I got pretty nervous cuz i was breezing through b4 this but i beat it 1st try with 1 health after using this build except with dual aperitif, the p10slt for my fcs, and bst-g2 booster
Double Flamethrowers and I used the hover tank lower and added double stun needles when they run at me straight on
Can't believe how much easier this build made this mission. I've been avoiding all missile builds for some reason all this time.
I started grinding this mission when I got my wisdom teeth pulled, imagine that.
I gave up after a few attempts, but now that I don’t hurt nearly as much as I did, I tried it again and got it first try with this build. The homing rockets carry hard

I used the LG-033M legs, and focused on explosive defense.
Had no idea these missile pods packed such a punch. I went from "how the hell are you supposed to survive this" to "oh... OHHH that's a lotta damage"

My recommendation is 2 viento needle guns and 2 earshots, the earshots one shot the wheels, you can catch them easily when they come from afar or when they stop to do the fire attack

As soon as the first guys start spawning in rush them and dual song bird one. Double tab with the cook. Boost kick the second, song bird then cook.
Once the wheels come in as soon as your close Pulse shield then cook and boost kick as needed.
When the mechs come in again pop your shield again and repeat the first tactic. I didn't have to heal, was down 50% and got S.
This build put me through first try. Thank you!
I love every mission in this game, even the hardest ones to get an S rank on were at least fun the first few times through. This mission isn't even close to being the one I spent the most time on yet it manages to be the least fun
My personal recommendation is to use a heavy AC build with dual Flamethrowers and Dual Earshot grenade cannons. The Flamethrowers will melt all of the enemies. Once you beat the first wave, head to the spawn point of the remaining waves and snipe them with the Earshots.
Almost thebsame here, but instead of flamethrowers i used the vientos needle gun to stun the mts, since the wheels die from just one earshot attack

Surprised you got an S rank with how much damage you taken. The benchmarks you need for each mission are very weird and unclear. I will give this a try though, thanks
My go to guess from what I noticed, long as you end the mission with about 90% of the original pay, you are good, at least that is how it feels in missions with no Bonus Pay or automatic penalty options.
@@Shywhitefox I’m not so certain. The destroy the helicopters mission I did super quick, hardly took damage, but maybe ammo was over. Couldn’t get an s rank on it. Some of them are gonna be real hard.
@@deanofcool Tell me about it. BAWS facility 2 with the stealth mechs forced me to memorize all their positions and go in with the Red and Green energy swords + plus regular and laser shotgun if Melee did not cut it,
you have to finish this mission as fast as possible, with low damage of course, but i think the time is the most important thing

Yeah, had an A rank with better score than my S rank, I believe time is the biggest variable - it has to be total time.

I found Stun Needle plus grenade cannons works best with an AC that is fast and has a long hang (not quad they just get wrecked by the missiles). In on run I got all the first wave of grinder wheels in a full salvo. However, I would be interested in a consistent way to do this one as I always have to be on the top of my game for this level.

man, I did this with a pair of zimmermans in a pure nacht frame. it worked but my heart was in my throat the whole time.

I don't get how people deal this much damage to those enemies, they don't even flinch at 2 frontal hits from needles in my game. I just don't get why it's so inconsistent across the game.

I was wondering why new game ++ videos were so minimal and had alot fewer views compared to the first two playthroughs. This mission showed me why. Ive put an hour into this and still have no clue how to approach it. I think this is just where I get filtered.
I haven't seen those roly-poly enemies on other UA-camr playthrough I'm guessing they appear on new game+ welp might as well look at all your s-rank playthrough leave a like on each one.

What is the penalty here? You fail to protect the Strider, but once the client finds out what happens they pay the original amount anyway?
On the results screen you can press a button to see more detail, and it shows that Walter paid the amount out of his own pocket.

Excellent guide, but may I offer a professional critiscm? Why not the FCS-G2/P12SML FCS? I used that and my clear time for this mission was 87 seconds. Get some rest, 621.
spent like 3 hours trying to do this mission with my favorite builds and i make the one from this video and it takes two seconds.
My strategy for this was missiles + Zimmerman + Pilebunker anyone who made the mistake of staying still
