Ty for this. Like many of us what i know of Babbitt's music comes via You Tube. I did not know Babbitt had written a Concerti for Orchestra. Can one of the experts weigh in and explain why the slight difference in naming? Concerti vs Concerto.
Babbitt tried to highlight little interactions among groups of instruments in this work. At one point, he even considered calling the work "Chamber Music for Orchestra".
I must say it is Babbitt-esque. Enough so that listening blind I might recognize the composer if not the exact genre. While I believe his Clarinet Concerto to be the best work of the genre in the modern era, I find this piece rather charming but not the equal of Carters. The syncopation, the foreard thrusts followef by stasis, the distribution of orchestral timbre is reminiscent almost derivative of his his own Piano Concertos.
Fabulous! A master!
Exciting never a dull moment

Ottimo!
One of my favorite pieces by Babbitt. (Not that there are any I don't like...)

Entartete Musik
Regardless your intention it's a foul comment. Needlessly provocative, wrong on numerous levels and offensive.
