I think Krept and Konan's post was intended to entice Black customers, the relationship between south asian shop keepers and Black customers is frosty at best, we shop with them out of necessity, collusion and economies of scale often prevents Black owned and run stores from opening and with the gentrification of Peckham and Brixton any real potential of Black people getting a proper economic foot hold in the UK is greatly diminished. Some people are being way too catty about it but I think the underlying sentiment of caution is justified. We are yet to see how this shop affects the local community so just let them do their ting. I do also think there's a general dislike for the duo.
@kwameopoku3576 that's just not true the fact is 60s migrants from the carribean were owners in those areas the brixron riots lead to a sharp decline in ownership. Your lying !
2% is definitely nothing to be sniffed at but you can’t say people are wrong for doing their research on what company they are buying from. Same way would you research a charity before donating. If you’re spending your money because you think it’s black owned you should check if it is actually black owned.
Exactly, because only showing 2 of the 3 owners knowing the third owner is majority owner and profiter and his Asian will have a different impact on who goes to the store…. Because now it’s about the consumer making the choice to support a majority owned Asian with a small percent of black ownership….
But @jayvsop where did they say it was Black owned? Read their instagram post. It’s says they’re open a supermarket and they’re going into a partnership with their brothers. They’ve never said come and shop at our Black owned supermarket.
But @giftkaniwa1886 you’re assuming they didn’t show the third owner or the other owners because he’s/they’re Asian. Maybe they did or maybe it’s because K&K are famous and he isn’t. Why would he show his face? No one knows who he is. Also black people shop in fully owned Asian establishments all the time and have no real issue with parting with their money but now because Black people are involved but an Asian is the majority shareholder, people won’t shop there. How does that make any real sense?
@ they never said it. The people assuming it’s black owned should check before they support if that’s their only motivation is all I’m saying. I think Krept has answered a lot of people’s concerns about the percentages so I wouldn’t even say it’s a bad thing that people brought it up. I’m happy with his explanation and hopefully it encourages people to look more into joint ventures and the benefits they have.
37:23 hes fucking cooking, no one is better or worse than nobody in general. Nobody got superpowers, nobody can control their life like a pc, we all gonna die at some point😊
Y'all/We should ALL "GO OUT OF OUR WAY" to shop with a Black-Owned Business, ESPECIALLY on BLACK POUND DAY (1st Saturday of EVERY MONTH)! ✊🏾 If ANY of y'all wanna SEE CHANGE, y'all might wanna actually make a CHANGE, on ur end!
In my experience and many others, there are Caribbean food restaurants and other establishments where you will receive terrible customer service, thats if they open on time and substandard products. Should black people still spend their hard earned money there?
@@sj2672 Do u have da same complaints when da Customer Service is terrible at other Non-Black Restaurants or Establishments? 🤨 & If they don't like it, they shouldn't, no. They should try elsewhere, because it's not like deh's a shortage of Caribbean or African Restaurants. Maybe try get a Recommendation 📝
Black facing asian owned business is not a new phenomenon. Think of the backlash with products like tropical sun. Why is the african bredda acting obvlious to this. K and K fronting the business didnt have to directly say its black owned but thats the implication. Someone has found out the true ownership model and now black people have more knowledge to base thier decision on wether or not to spend their money there. And your response is hush dont say the truth😂
There slogan is, “why go anywhere else” it is clear that there marketing was at the Black community which is why K&K did a ‘Thoughts in a Culli’ & a LINKUPTV bts so when our people find out that they’re really being sold another mostly Asian owned business it makes sense why they would feel slighted. All that being said I rate what they have achieved but like Chinx said in this new Information Age want the truth and have the right to access it.
The consumer has a right to know where his money is going! If you’re calling your community to come support the brand! Failing to disclose the 2% ownership. Some might say that’s a bit exploitative. The ethnic minority consumers are more economically survey.
people are missing that in the krept and konan post they never said it was black owned, they said it's for the community.. community means the people surrounding it which is a mix of black and asian etcc.... people just decided themselves that it was black owned!! too many people fighting demons, alot of people aren't going through depression or mental health, it's jealousy that is eating them up daily
Icl mentioning the 2 percent is unnecessary from K&K. Ibr the real question we gotta ask is why ppl are soo pressed about everyone doing their research. If a new charity opens, will you not check it first before donating.
Krept & Konan are members of the black community but they’re also a part of other communities too such as being of Islamic faith they’re catering to their community as a whole.
Also “black owned” label is just bs, for a pat on the back from ourselves, just say you opened a business, this is how division between communities always happens
Cinxx is a very well spoken brother 🙌🏽
Well spoken hater
37:36 “your shit can’t bake patty” is coldddd 😅

@kwameopoku3576 pre brixton riots in the 80s youd be suprised how much was.... your comment is ignrorant and illinformed
@ its not ignorant its truth i understand demographics but be honest they were not first inhabitants

Bottom line is. I rather shop with them than a Co-Op. (As a black man)

That 2% can become 10%, 25%,49%,51% eventually so people are getting upset over nothing
Who has that happened to in business?
@ people sell shares all the time, it’s not uncommon

Our community is silly! You don’t check who owns Grace, Tropical Sun, Maggi (all own by Asians) what now? Support the mandem and keep it moving
Misery likes company
