Now this is why I love the channel man, ive been throwing the magdraft for awhile now ive always pointed the rod tip straight at the bait and ive probably had a 60/40 land ratio definitely going to try angling the rod this year thanks for the great info always ben!
It'll improve your hook up ratio by a lot! It took me a long time of dumping them to figure out I was just too fast at feeing them! Let me know how it improves things for you!

The 6in & 8in have caught me some of my biggest Snook I've ever caught in my life, and I just turned 53. I have never come across a lure that so productive like this bait rigged freestyle. The other lure that has been very productive is the Jackall Dowzswimmer.

Great video. I have an 8inch that swims a little on its side. It’s new and I’d like to correct it. You mentioned nail weighting. Can you talk more about getting them to run perfect. It’s the only mag draft I’ve had that didn’t run true. Great bait
just took my TB rod out today for the first time got it for 8 inch mags and I Slide 185s love how it handles the mag so far

Another phenomenal video! On the 8” and 10”, is it possible to just top hook/bb rig and remove the bottom hook for bottom bouncing? Or will it affect the swim/balance of the bait? Appreciate the videos!
You can definitely do that on the larger ones!
I have been really think about using the 5 inch as well as the Mag Draft.
One tip/idea I do to keep from loosing eyes, after loosing a few, is putting Mend-it over the top of the eyes. I build it up with 2-3 smaller coats so it has a good connection to the plastic around the eye. Hope this help someone.
I take the eyes off before I fish them and glue them back on.. I do it to all my swimbaits and they never come off..
@@carlosalvarado2160 exactly what I do too. Works perfectly. The problem with Mend-it, is that its MEK. It will melt most plastics, clear coats and paints. Risky to use. I just super glue the back and pop em on. If I really want outer protection over them, I'll use UV activated super glue. The stuff is GREAT for many things, fishing and non-fishing.

Can u put what size owner beast hook u match up with each size in the description. So its an easy reference. Thanks for the tips amd content and everything you do for the industry.
luv the magdrafts 6' amd 8' wish they would make a top hook version in both sizes
There's a hack that shows u how to set up for top hook it's on UA-cam look it up mate
The key for me has been periodic shake of thre rod tip and once or twice per cast sudden speed gets bit more than just a steady retrieve. Also i only got one fish so far letting it fall to bottom but i think it will get more bites if i do it.
I don't have a Tequila Baccarac but I'm sure the Mark 48 should do the trick with the 8" MagDraft! Send some colors over my way so I can play around with em and see which one suits me best. I'll buy a bunch in that color way!!!

Just got my first ever I-Slide and I was curious if you guys tie directly to line tie or do you guys use snaps and/ or slit rings?
Should mention it’s a 135
Just my two cents but when I swimbait fish I use split rings on all of my soft plastic baits, and snaps on all of my hard baits. It’s a good rule of thumb to start with if anything.

If I were just starting bass fishing what would you suggest as a basic tackle box. I live in Southern Cal and fish Lake Skinner reserve, Diamond Valley (clear water). Conditions are hot/ cool/cold.

I'm not Ben, but I'm using the new Diawa Tatula 300 on mine. It is an amazing rod too. It's surprising the variety of baits that can be thrown on it. I use it on Magdrafts 6 and 8 and Magslowls 9 inch, I slide 185's, S-Waver 165's and 200's, I-wing 135's, and it'll work well for punching and frogging too. I really was shocked at all it would do, and do well. Good fishin to ya!

@@adamleiva Yes. It fishes just like a lipless.
I like the 11/0 VMC Heavy Duty willow blade hook, on the 8". Fits the bait perfectly, the hook it long enough to reach the rear of the hook slot (the hook point sits 3/4" further back than a 10/0 Beast). I landed bass upwards of 10lbs on that, this last spring/summer.
And then the 7/0 VMC on the 6" Freestyle*

Just how different is the magdraft from the magslowl? Is it just the boot tail shape and feather?
MagDraft is slower and pushes more water. Mag slowly has more tail kick, more action but less water push.
why do you cut out the magdraft magnet and treble hook assembly vs just using the magdraft freestyle, I get it's to make it more weedless but is that not what the freestyle lets you do? I will be fishing this is weedy and tree limb areas most often so I will want to do that mod but was just wondering why mod it vs the freestyle version
The freestyle is only available in the 6 inch size, so that's why people modify the bigger ones.

I don't know specific area that well, but you can't go wrong with GLX Akame and GLX sunshine gill for all around colors!

Got my 1st ever NRX in yesterday from you guys - ohhhhhh she’s special .. finally got to feel what all the hype is - however 😉😉 ( and for those who want to know ) the megabass P5 Is nicer ..only reason why is megabass did all the little things to a rod that Gloomis did not - as far as weight & sensitivity - it’s a tie
Just got nrx myself for t rig, was looking at p5 dark sleeper so ill be using it day after christmas

@@deangruwell6555 t rig is one of my favorites and was going for the dark sleeper but it wasn't in shock, also I throw it on 3/16 so started looking at nrx 853c jar but after talking to with staff 893c jwr is what I got. Thought shorter rod might be a little stiff, already have a couple destroyers ottoman and Warhammer. This is my first g loomis
NRX is definitely a more traditional, clean USA styling. P5 is definitely so freaking beautiful. The details in JDM rods are just so fun 👍
