In this Travel video we talk about why Portmeirion is so unique and use drone footage as well as ground footage to show you this colourful Italian themed village. By the end of the video you will understand why it is one of the most visited places in all of Wales.
We go into the history of why the village was created and talk about the main founder Sir Clough William Ellis and find out why over 200'000 tourists visit the tourist village every year.
You will also find out that the village was used as the main setting for the famous TV series the Prisoner which was popular in the 1960's and 70's.

Just a slight correction. No 2 lived in the round house and No 6 lived in the shop that sells, obviously, lots of Prisoner related videos, booklets and merchandise just down from the round house. All the inside shots were done in Elstree studios and make all the places look ten times bigger inside - very Tardis like!

@@top10todolist2 Yes, The Prisoner was on recently on channe3l 69 [Legend] and I am missing it, but also keep thinking of booking a room at Portmeirion Hotel.
@@top10todolist2 I am in Shropshire now but lived in Swansea for 20 years. In 1977 I was working at the Museum of Cheltenham and a man asked me to do some typing for him. He had a sort of Club called '6 of 1'. That's how I learned more after watching part of the episodes in Brussels in 1964. It was in black and white and not because of the TV. Very strange. In the 1980s we got to the entrance of Portmeirion and I bought 2 vases made there but can't remember where. Have you heard Patrick McGoohan speaking. There is an old video in circulation. He wrote the episodes and I think it's remarkable he did this as well as acted the part of no.6.
