As a support main that’s thirsty for a more true utility support rather than outright healing, this version of Sombra feels SO good to play.
You would get flamed so much because you aren't a "healer", have you never Lucio or Zen

I like the added support utility from most heroes in general in Mirrorwatch - Doomfist gives overhealth with his charge I think, Sombra hack and EMP, Rein window, Widow ulty...makes it feel more like a team.
Giving overhealth is a much healthier counter to anti-nade than cleanse... And the healing reduction is a much healthier version of blocking all healing.
I personally think it'd be too drastic of a change to Sombra's identity, but I'd love to see this kind of playstyle given to some future hero down the line

I don’t agree and pretty sure Jeff Kaplan said in one of the dev commentaries after she was released - that he used to describe Sombra as DPS/Support Gamers turned her into pure assassin and thus the changes.
Hacking in the space it fills in the sort of trope it holds in genre, in the stories it occurs in has counter hacking and things called ICE that were counter hacking.
If they had Sombra Virus the offensive hack and then turn lock on hack into a counter hack for allies, improve movement speed and provide a temp health or remove discord or hinder it would still connect to her ‘identity’

and simply adjust her emp to do less dmg and still giving overhealth to allies, and possibly (to go with the balance of canceling enemies abilities) remove 1-sec (or 2 depending on the hero) cooldown of their abilities immedietly.
she would be "A jack of all trades is a master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one"

@@hillwoop9101oh I absolutely agree that several of these abilities will prob go to a new hero this year. Or they are thinking of actually using some on the heroes they gave them too. It’s just another way for them to test concepts. Which I’m all for, as a flex player on all roles and playing sombra… I’ve been saying for awhile move sombra to support or give some of these to space ranger or someone else.
This removes the pain of being hacked in general thumbs up on that
Support Sombra is probably one of my favorite overall characters in Mirrorwatch, followed by OP Mercy lol
Support Sombra reminds me of symmetra back at the launch of overwatch when she was in the support category.
I am generally surprised with how good this seems to work out especially since she still has her hacker identity and feels useful despite minimal heals (arguably more than current Illari lol). Honestly, Hack being centered around decreasing damage also may be a more healthier way to approach the ability.
I think it’s so fun but it’s just not her personality. She works for her own goals yknow

It already doesn't make sense for sombra to fight with overwatch agents in a real game so there's no point in holding on to things like she works for her own goal in the lore when the gameplay itself already doesn't consider details like team composition as part of it.
@@ashonline77 Very fair point, Blizzard is too focused on "maintaining the hero identity" that they are too scared to actually "rework" characters properly. Hog was a prime example of this, they seemed to think his identity was a guy who hooks people and 1 shots them, so they didn't change him at all.
This game mode shows what they are capable of when they have creative freedom.
This is what support is supposed to be like. Not constantly healing.
I would like a weak heal on her. Otherwise, this is a very good concept on her.

Seeing Support Sombra I want hybrid chars who’s kit can be changed at the start of a round like here: dps Sombra or support Sombra (and this gets also communicated to the enemy team)

This has been the most fun event they have done so far. so silly and a blast to play. Cant even get mad when rocketted to death by mercy. its too funny.
Theyre never gonna rework sombra into a support but this is probably a test for abilities they want to add to future heroes. Kinda like when they made symmetra a support with healing turrets- then they released illari later lmao

Having Sombra as a support would definitely be a bit healthier for the game. But if they add a character with the same concept I also wouldn’t be mad at that
Technically, there is already another hacker in the Overwatch universe too. Lynx 17 from the Zarya comic. I would LOVE to see them as a playable character.
Yea, not gonna lie, some of the abilities I feel should get incorporated into the official game. Take the Barrier from Widow and put on Bastion, we could have the old Bastion back but with a much more forgiving Barrier that's just meant to block stray shots or the brunt of a burst. It'd beat his current one where it just reduces damage from all directions, which is hardly noticeable in most cases.
As for Sombra... Even with her current kit she feels more like a support than a DPS. Just combine each version and make her a Support.
Rein? Ffs let's talk about Rein. Why is he not built like this officially? This is almost perfect.
The rest just feels flat out creative, albeit the change to Bastion's Ult could work if the HP on the Slicers were lessened, maybe more on par to Baptiste Immortality Field.
Idk... There are reworks in the make for Sombra & Rein, so who knows... Maybe we might actually keep a lot of the changes... I vote Rein's Barrier and Sombra's Hack from Mirrorwatch to be made official changes.
Some changes in this mode are honestly healthier for the game. Sombra not cancelling your abilities or ultimates from stealth, Ana jump + anti-nade being just a reduction rather than full heal negate, and Rein speedboost when the shield's destroyed.
There still is nothing as TERRIFYING as the strongest creation Blizzard ever made;
AC-130 Zeigler.
Apache Mercy is just.... a menace
As a Sombra and a Support main, i love this change, it is way healthier for the game.
I also made a concept rework for her, where her hack ability is now her secondary fire, with 0 cooldown, but a short recovery time of 1s. Her Hack animation now last for 1.5s and she chains to an ally, (similar to mercy beam) healing them with a short burst of heal (like kiri's ofuda). After the animation ended, the ally gets the "hacked" status, and they get healed over time for 30hp/s for 3s (basically a temporary armony orb of zen). Her Virus ability doesn't hit enemy animore, instead it can hit an ally, providing overhealth, hacked ally gains extra overhealth. Stealth ans Translocator would be the same, and her Ult would give allies 125hp of overhealth and stuns immunity (not like suzu, u can still get naded, or booped or damaged). + it would NOT remove enemies abilities anymore.
I don’t like the virus effect in your concept not doing damage to enemies, I think being able to be offensive is a key strength to supports. Unless youre buffing her primary fire, I think virus should do damage to enemies (maybe altered numbers) I like the idea of damage reduction to the enemy, and I like your idea of overhealth tho.
@@Ohwell340 maybe it could have multiple uses just like ana's nade and moira's orbs, where u can chose to use it on allies for overhealth or on enemies for a damage reduction!
I think this just goes too far against her identity. Sombra should always have an enemy debuff, and Virus is a perfect replacement for hack, and reducing enemy damage is a perfect ability for support, they even tried to give it to Moira in the beta it just didn't fit her.
There is an old character from the comics called Lynx (there might be a number in their name?) who helps zarya look for sombra. They are an omnic hacker and their aesthetic would really fit for a support version of sombra.
I wish they kept those mirrorwatch characters(not as they are but like a different kit)
There’s other hackers in the universe! Lynx Seventeen would fit this their insanely well. Plus their sugar skull for his hacks were always blue!

As a Sombra main i would be so glad to have support sombra in a game as another character, buffing me - dps Sombra! Hunting down whoever we'd like as a duo because nothing would stand before such power.

Honestly giving a character a new kit but keeping there old kit to like switch in and out would be perfect like this if you wanna play support but sombra that way they could make mei a tank like everyone has been saying for the longest fxcking time
A lot of the reworks have aspects with potential. I especially like the zen discord change, though it would need some work.
Particularly, the fact that discord does DOT means that it can keep a sombra out of stealth and gives him more counterplay in that matchup.

They definitely are. They'd be stupid not to use this opportunity to do so. I don't think they'd put this much effort into something they didn't plan to possibly utilize long term.

I was hoping that ML7 gave sombra more of a try. As a support main, ive been having an absolute blast playing her!
My favorite thing to do is pair with a flank zen for a seal team 6 assault on the sidelines. Hacked zen is a true fear in this mode
then theyd realize how fun she is too play and nerve her into oblivion

Especially since the healers they chose are all single target healers (Minus brig), which just makes the mode much harder because of it. Moira would have been the only other healer that would have made sense to add, and would have made the mode a bit easier to heal everyone.

I’m a Sombra main with almost 200 hours on her and I think support Sombra is way healthier for the game than dps Sombra
AGREED. Fun to play, and play with! She's way more likely to stick with the team. She can still do assassin shenanigans, but her real value is when she's with the team, and Overwatch is a team game.
@@sethprice6174 yea I honestly agree. I wouldn't mind if they changed sombra to the mirror watch version. If they do that would be more fun then normal sombra although they would have to make changes for the ult because its like a better Brig and Kiriko ult.

I've been enjoying dancer in ff14, combing the dance partner with this support sombra would be a crazy concept.
Imagine hacking a teammate and your dance partner gets the same buff, or you hack the partner and double down.

Sombra isn't the only hacker, Lynx 17 from the Zarya comic is also a hacker and would make the most sense to be a hacking support.

a cool puppeteer type character. a healer in the enemies backlines. like moira, but more effective.
If her hack maybe gave health regen like Harmony orb and damage boost instead of firing speed, she would be an amazing support.

They could do a similar type hero in the future but I also could see them making a change that has her lock on hack buff allies whilst virus is the offensive hack
so something that requires aim? guess it's just going to be thrown at the tank like every other ranged CC that requires aim (anti-nade, sleep, hinder, whip shot, etc.)

Sounds like a great idea for Sombra to have support hacks, but she feels useless against Doom and Tracer.
Just virus doom on cooldown. The 50% debuff to his damage makes every time he dives pointless. The virus change is crazy op in general. She smokes most of the mirrorwatch roster in a 1v1 because of it. Only good counter play is cleansing it with Zarya bubble or Tracer recall, otherwise you’re basically out of the fight damage wise till it’s finished.
I would actually have loved this to have been the sombra rework
In a game where so many characters gimmick is to constantly use their abilities to survive theres no place for a characters whos whole thing is stopping abilities, there should not be a "stop having fun" button on a 6 sec cd

All the Mirrorwatch characters should be added to at least quickplay in the main game. They could add tabs to the character portrait, one for standard and one for mirrorwatch versions. The widow is probably busted for ranks that can aim so maybe she would need to be nerfed. I think this would be great if every year they did a new set of mirrorwatch heroes and just added them to the base game.

It's a game mode
They did a mirror universe gamemode event, where overwatch members and talon members are swapped, since sombra is a overwatch hero in this mode, she's more on the good side and she hack allies instead of enemies.

I don't really like the ult, it just feels like a combo of kitsune rush and beat but weaker. Maybe if it also hacked enemies, the short hack duration without the damage, then it would be fun. Also, I know this is just a temporary silly arcade type mode but it's really annoying that I can't hack allies if they are bubbled by Zarya.

I think to keep overwatch fresh. They should change some heroes abilities every season. That will not only keep things interesting, it will make people use different characters more and now have to think of new ways to play the game.

@@fabianschumacher9588 No it's the Mirrorwatch event that changes certain heroes specifically for that gamemode.
Some of these changes might make it into the game tho. Since some of the changes seems like test changes to see how they work in the actual game. Sombra is basically a dps support in this mode so I don't think they will do anything with that.
