Remember when Chatsworth, Ojai, Long Beach, and Gardena (AWT) all had these beats! Mixed with WX Octo, WXLL Octo, WXLL McNeilus Pacific Series and 320 pacific series. To what was a very common sight is now a thing of the past. Even Sun Valley now rebranded most of the AW trucks, but we STILL have trucks sporting the Consolidated name. Love these videos dude!
Of course I remember, they were the staple of the Commercial fleet. These began to fade away in 2010 as soon as Republic brought in their 2010-2011 Autocar McNeilus CNG. Eventually some were still seen roaming around with AW stickers slapped on them and what not while others even had the full Republic scheme applied to them. It is still nice to know some trucks preserve their original signboards. Stay tuned as I have tributes to different haulers too planned ahead for 2021.
The early to mid-2000's was an amazing time to see these beautiful creations in action. It's disappointing how there's no such footage of these back in their prime-time. Only footage of the Amreps from the post-Taormina era is from late-2006, when Mr. billT, then named shadofax96, was able to get some short clips of a scrapped Garden Grove Disposal Octo doing normal pickups. however, I want to emphasize that this was days before the infamous Taormina Industries strike in Anaheim on October 26th, 2006.
I know, these were very common back then both in Consolidated and Taormina. Despite that there hardly is any videos about them asides those from Bill and that nice video by JunkJose. I thought I would contribute to the archives in my own way so the memory of these past days could be forever preserved. Thanks for watching.
It is definetly not a one day process, and rendering takes hours, sometimes even days. I cannot explain the entire process here as it is rather lengthy. Do Rear loader
And Mack MRU Front loader
Not an MRU, but the original MR, but I'm sure you'll like it.
