I thought it was an actual clip of him at first -- you can see the digital elements after watching it a while but the face and the eyes are so convincing --that is what was the hardest thing to do in computer graphics. The eyes. And realistic mouth movements. And now you can get a computer to do it, in your own home. And de-age someone. If you had someone who can mime the performer, and get HD level detail, and DeepFake the voice as well, it could be a very convincing fake if people are able to refine it manually.

While James Cameron was one of the directors who really tried to advance CG in special effects, efforts and treatments in his films The Abyss, T2, Avatar. The actual beginning studies of engineering more lifelike facial configuration was in the film The Curious Case of Benjamin Buttons. As well from that came higher details to cg animals and realism within hair and fur in ways the motion capture seamlessly can bring ever more lifelike details to the screen

In July 2024, the real Tom is *62 years old* and his face shows it- a lot of aging. He couldn't perform a fake AI vid now (or in the past couple of yrs) looking like he did 20 yrs ago.

I’d agree with you, typically deepfaking software isn’t sophisticated enough to handle things like objects passing over the face, or fixing your hair. I’ve checked out a few of Fishers stuff and I’m pretty convinced this is just a reupload with a misleading title

it's not a real person. that's what deep fake means. maybe it was mapped from a person. but once you have the map in the computer, you can make mannerisms that the 'actor' never did. you can put in sound effects. it's made up. made with part truth and part lies.

What I don't understand is how billion dollar movie studios (ie Disney with Star Wars) can't make photo realistic doubles for their characters but these independent computer nerds with no budget can.

This is AMAZING and insanely realistic I can tell it's a deep fake at 1:03 though, the nose seems to go upwards into the middle of the glasses other than that it's perfect.👍
In less that one year I've gone from saying 'that's fake' to 'that's not fake'.
In July 2024, the real Tom is *62 years old* and his face shows it- a lot of aging.
He couldn't perform a fake AI vid now (or in the past couple of yrs) looking like he did 20 yrs ago.
