I've always loved the log cabin design and now I've finally made a square of that design. I don't quilt so I have found a way to do it. Thanks Jayda for sharing this design.
I made my sister a poncho using the log cabin granny square she loved it I used different shades of purple and made my mother a blanket she uses on her bed God Bless you
Yes! I remember learning this from my mother-in-law. She was an avid quilter. She tried to teach me, but I was never able to catch on. Glad someone else remembers this, thanks for sharing!
@@normacraft3670 lol, I have not made it yet! I have another project I am finishing first, a scrap blanket in moss stitch, working out from the center. My scrap collection got to the point of overrunning my workspace.
Now this is a beautiful beautiful happy idea. I am going to make all my grandsons a personal blanket (3) boys and a girl due in April 4 and my birthday is April 9. So with that it only stands to reason that beautiful Ms Happy would come up with this! Thank you ! Debbie
I know this is Feb 2020 Log Cabin Square and I am a few months late. I am hoping you may see this post. I would really love for Jayda to expand on this square, another round or two to make a bigger square. I have always loved the knitted ones I have seen and found it very hard to find an actual pattern for them. I started to crochet again only because I found your granny square video. I just about gave up trying until I found you Jayda InStitches. You are 'Simply the Best'. Thank you.
Hey Jayda, big time fan of urs n ur work.Have learnt a lot from you. This is a gr8 project I wanna start during this lockdown.. thanks again for ur all so exciting n so very explanatory videos. Keep inspiring us always!! BIG TIME THANKS from Dubai. 😊
Very nice! Something new I’m learning, never heard of log cabin! Just completed April’s. Now working on May’s. Thank you for taking your time to do these tutorials! They are very helpful 🙏🏻😻🧶
hi jada, i just wanted to say that i love this blanket too, love that theres no sewing, this is my third blanket of yours i made, i finished your folk art blanket and your 2017 one, they turned out amazing, looking forward to the finished look of this one, love you guys, stay safe
Hi Jayda, I appreciate your videos and your happy spirit immensely. I was wondering if you could possible do a video on how to tell if bugs have gotten to your yarn stash. I am afraid I watched a few videos on yarn-eating bugs that I have scared myself silly. I live in Canada like yourself, so I am unsure if pests are primarily a problem in warmer climates. Thanks and take care!
Jayda, can you create a twiddle muff? Please!! It's like a hand warmer with different colors and textures with all sorts gadgets, buttons, flowers, chains, strings etc. For children with sensory issues. Or dementia patients. 🥰
Hey, if you haven't planned all of the shapes for this project, I would be extremely interested in a tutorial on how to make a diamond shape. I really love the Vasarely cube-style blanket (Qbert!), but I'm having a hard time finding a good tutorial for the correct way to make the diamond. They seem to be advanced and a little difficult.
Wow another beautiful creation.... I will try it also.. I want to make a bed sheet with it n want to make it in rectangular shape... How can it possible? Plz guide me. I wants to make it to welcome my friend's new born baby.
Hi Chrissy, we've got a great trick for our left handed friends :) This works with ANY right handed crochet OR knitting tutorial - ua-cam.com/video/6ExUDadbkzc/v-deo.html
I seriously need more than one per month. (Waaaaa 😂) would you consider posting more than one? My grandson is impatiently waiting for his blanket. I have 16 grandchildren and this is the last one.
Hi Barbara, you have 2 options, you can make the squares larger by continuing the pattern OR you can make 1 big, blanket-sized square :) If you were going to attach smaller squares, sewing them would use the least amount of yarn (I tend to use a whip stitch) :)
I love this the thing is, the first one I tried making January one umm yeah didn't turn out very well. Do u think I can make it just squares and then sew together?
Hi! Absolutely! It's patchwork, so there are no "rules" per say :) Plus, if you were making these patterns in a traditional fabric quilt, you'd be sewing each little block together!
Hi Jayda, I want to buy all the yarn now to do the 2020 calendar blanket for my son this year. How many total yards do you suggest I buy? (I’m in the US and I don’t feel terribly confident with the meter or gram measurements). Also, is this month’s square with the 5 colors/hues the highest number or maybe January 9 square? Thanks!
Hi Lori, each square can be done with 2 colours plus a border colour OR any number or colours you might want to use (its mainly designed to use up stash scraps :). Each square uses 100 yards TOTAL (including border) depending on how you want to break that down into your chosen colours. Then we'll be adding a border, but of course, the border is flexible in size :)
Jayda InStitches thank you! I’m new to crochet (just started in December) and I don’t have a stash to bust yet! 🤪 I found a good sale at Herrschner’s and my son picked some colors. Now I can order! Look forward to catching up with you and excited to see the June square.

The Log Cabin block comes from quilting. Traditionally, the center square was red to indicate the fire in the hearth of the home.
