Excellent video thank you! Where can I buy blanking plates if I want to run my bike without back rest? Are they Triumph blanking plates and if so do you know the part numbers? Thanks again!! SW France
Thank you, much appreciated. I got mine by calling the Triumph dealer and asking for the R backrest filler covers. Sorry, I don’t have the numbers but they will know and can order them for you. Ride safe.
@@justkillnbugz Thank you for your very quick reply. It’s very kind of you to offer, but I live in SW France so the logistics operation might be a little tricky! I shall contact my Triumph dealer in Bordeaux. Ride Safe! and thanks again.
Thank you for this video, used as a guide for backrest install. I have a 2023 Rocket 3R, Matte Silver. The black backrest is a great addition, stealthy looking on the Matte Silver as well. New to the Rocket world recently, loving this bike, it is a joy to ride! Think she will be around for a bit. Luggage rack next for me as well, awaiting delivery. Again, thanks for the video, it was my guide! (Mudflap reinstall was not that fun, but finally got it!) "For the Ride"
Thanks for the feedback, and I am glad it was helpful. 100% on the mud guard, but I found that if you drop the pegs, it helps. For next time lol. Awesome bikes and yea, tons of fun. Ride safe and thanks for the support!
Thank you for the feedback. You bet, I am glad the video was able to assist, that’s why I like to make them. We all gotta help each other out right? 😃 Thanks again and ride safe.
Thanks for the video. I have spent the evening removing most of my parts to have the powder coated. And it really helped me get the backrest off. Much appriciated. You would not happen to have one on removing the cat? I have order Ixil exhaust for my rocket
Thank you! I appreciate the comments. I do, go to my home page on UA-cam by clicking on my channel name and go to videos. You can see all I have done on the rockets. So glad it helped. Ride safe.
I always thought that the silver backrest makes the (stunning) Rocket 3 look like a teapot. The black one is so much better, I hope I will get a better look at it in one of your next videos. Also, I love the color you chose for the bike but doesn't the chrome on top of the tank blind you on sunny days? Anyway, love the bike, loved your video!
Thanks for the comments, much appreciated. I felt the same but they never had the black available to purchase until this year. Once I saw it, it was over. Lol. I will do a walk around video again to show the changes here in the future. As far as the chrome tank, it hasn’t caused an issue for me yet, oddly, I was curious if the same thing. Love riding These bikes, they are just awesome. Thanks again and ride safe.
Good in theory, but the hour plus taken trying to get the poorly designed mudguard back in made the whole job a nightmare. Surely I can’t be the only one. No matter what i tried it would not go back in, the upper 2 clips just refused to slide up, even with a second pair of hands. I ended up cutting both tabs off completely. Still seems to hold in place fine, but what a mission. Instead of the 2 clips each side it should have been manufactured with one centrally each side
Thank you for the great informative video. I myself, just acquired 2023 Rocket 3 GT. I'm wondering if you could share information about the tools you use ? I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you
Thanks for the question. You can put any reasonable sized bag on it but they need to have plenty if tie down options since it is a smaller surface. I personally have used the HD Onyx bag: www.harley-davidson.com/us/en/shop/onyx-premium-luggage-day-bag/p/93300104 and the Thrashin Passenger bag: www.thrashinsupply.com/collections/luggage/products/passenger-bag. They worked well and I was able to haul a change of clothes or camera equipment when filming. Like I said, you just have to tie them down well using the loops to minimize movement. Hope that helps and ride safe.
Thanks for the reply and feedback, much appreciated. I do not have a video of that conversion, however I did do that very thing on my 2020 GT. Its a simple process of just removing the backrest opposite of what I showed here and purchasing the fillers from your Triumph dealer. I may do a video of that process at a later date when/if I end up converting to a Corbin rear fender setup again. You can see the end result in my 2020 Rocket walkaround video as well. Ride safe
I went back and looked at my 2020 Rocket return to stock video before I traded in Lois. In the video at about 17:00 mins in I show the inserts and how they go in and out. It applies with the backrest install and removal. You can see it here in this vides: ua-cam.com/video/H2enzln2Zqg/v-deo.htmlsi=JTYeUF_740MMrhgG Hope that helps, ride safe!
Thanks a lot for this video! The black is pretty stunning and goes well with the black fender theme. I noticed that you’re still using the stock seat instead of the Corbin seat, which you removed from your old GT. What’s up with that? Are you not going to replace the stock seat with the Corbin seat? Again, thanks for all the videos you share. I enjoy them very much!
@@justkillnbugz That is often what happens. If you want to sell them, let me know. I was thinking about adding a set to my Rocket 3 R. It is all black, and I didn't want to go all murdered out, as it has too much black already.
Crap, I bought the brushed aluminum one. Need to order the luggage rack. Wish someone would engineer a quick release system for 2 up seats and backrests like the well-designed Triumph Rocket pannier system. Cripes, the minute Ms. Sota and I are done 2up touring, I am going to uninstall the backrest, the buttfugly 2 up Corbin custom seat and the tall Madstad windscreen. The terrible things we do to carry a passenger...
Great help ...thanks for ur effort makes life a lot easier doing thes bits ..

What do you recommend to purchase to make the luggage rack useful? some type of special bag or do you just strap anything to it?

One thing I didn't like about the kit is that it came with crhome screws
100% agreed. I get that the bike has variations of colors, but I would have liked those to be black for sure.
So you bought the chrome but took the shiny pieces off?
Lol. No. I took the brushed metal pieces off to match the back fender for a more consistent look.

I do camera as i go too...
It does look better the you have another place go pro 8 frnt and back , one in a black bag lookin oit.

Can you sell me the old brushed aluminum one you took off?
Possibly, PM me on Instagram and we can cover the details.
