Thank you for the video...very helpful, I've had the original Rocket III, 2005 since 07', and the new Chrome Edition 2023 will be arriving end of Feb....on my current Rocket, the oil filter is protruding form the front to the engine casing......this is a tad more of a hassle, thanks again.....oil type recommended by Triumph: The recommended oil type for a Triumph Rocket 3 motorcycle is 15W-50 full synthetic motorcycle oil. This is a heavier grade of oil than many other models, which use 10W-40. The official Triumph owner's manual recommends Castrol Power 1 4T 15W-50 synthetic motorcycle oil. However, Castrol does not offer this viscosity in North America. In this case, Triumph recommends using a high-quality, full or semi-synthetic motorcycle oil that meets API SH (or higher) and JASO MA-2
Just observed my certified Triumph mechanic do a full first service, including oil and filter. He replaced all 3 drain plug washers and pre-filled filter as per manual. He also changed final drive oil, replaced that drain washer too. Watch when pivoting lower rad guard as anchoring rubber o ring tends to fall out or be sticky when repositioning.
thanks for the video. i painted my plugs silver so next time there is no time wasted figuring out which drain it is. i’m doing an air filter change and getting the housing out is very challenging. i video on the air filter change would get some hits
I have the coolest bike I've ever owned. And I've had many . I'm 70 and I was worried should I ride a bike like this. I'm so happy I decided to ride again and on My 2021 Triumph Red Rocket 3r.
Finally someone thought about checking the oil level. Because those ideas that the motorcycle should run at idle speed for 3 minutes, then be turned off for 3 minutes and check the oil level through the window under the engine while the motorcycle is standing could only be... those who have a stand or other helpers at their disposal. Certainly not the motorcyclist himself. Here, however, it is interesting that it has 3 drain valves. And the approach to the filter is also interesting. But at least the bike looks perfect, the oil is not changed every week.
Supposedly the 2023 Rocket 3 requires a heavier grade, usually specified as a 15W-50 synthetic oil, as Triumph recommends a more viscous oil for the newer model due to its higher power output and engine design; always consult your owner's manual for the exact oil specification...got to figure this out!
Sorry cant remember now.. I'll try to remember add that to here next time when I change oil to new Rocket, but if I remember right it is that ammounth that I mentioned in the video.. 😃
Well, I'm a motorcycle mechanic, so I have a lot of those, but can't remember where I got that one.. When I am back at the garge, I'll try to remember find that info for you.. 😃
According to the instruction booklet, I filled 4.6 l and let the engine idle for 90 seconds. After 3 minutes of standing still, the oil level is exactly in the middle between min and max. Now I wonder: top up to max level or leave it as is?
@@FrankBeckers-n3k Hi.. If have a customers bike, then I would fill it to the top, because otherwise I would get feedback from customer, but if it is my own bike, then I would leave it there.. 😃

@@pekkavuorela" should", I guess you mean "can also be".. That "w" there means "winter", so cold area. And that "50" means viscosity when 100c. If cold oil is little thiner, it is better for engine when cold oil closer to warm viscosity. Basicly in every engine, you can go thiner oil in a gold side and thicker oil at the warm side (at warm side there is a limit, that you dont go too thick). If recomended oil is 15w/50, there is no problem to go as low as 5w/50 or even 0w/50 (this oil grade is really rare). Or on hot side go up to 10w/60, this is little thicker so when engine hot and on low rews, when oil pump is rotating slow, oil pressure is low, it keeps the oil film better. But at high rews thick oil can be a resistance and it can warm the oil it self umder its own resistance. It depens of the engine and engine clearances. Some engines need thicker oil when on heavy use, because too low grade oil can go too thin when hot and that is not good for the engine. 😃
@@MegatdanMeor as I wrote above, you can go lower at cold side or higher at warm side, so i wouldn't recommend that 10w/40 oil for you to use, because it goes lower viscosity at warm side. Example 10w/50 is ok, or like 15w/60 is ok, or even 10w/60 is ok..😃

You don't need to put PTFE tape on a parallel thread plug. The plug seals on the sealing washer. Just make sure they're clean and not damaged.
