I scored a 3 on that Grit Test, Shaan. I guess neither of us are ever going to amount to anything. 😂
Yeah, and y'all are joined by other loser deletants like da Vinci and Van Goh who probably would have gotten negative scores on the "Grit" scale.
Yeah and y'all are joined by other nobodies like Da Vinci and Van Gogh who would have probably scored negative on the "Grit" scale.
Mark!
My son is at West Point right now. Expenses are covered and they earn a small monthly stipend. Your description of what it takes to get in is mostly correct, but even more onerous than that. And, of course, being there is especially rigorous. Plus 5 years of active duty after 4 years of school. They put out lots of great, business-relevant podcasts that are worth a listen. Might be worth a deeper dive from you guys to see the type of entrepreneurs and industry leaders they produce (Coach K!). Love your content!
That’s great, you should be proud!
I love you Shaan but I predicted a score of 2 😂 I got 4.09. Grit isn't everything. I just got done gritting my way through a PhD program at Duckworth's university for 6 years and I have 0 job offers after close to 70 apps. But I am smart enough to be one of the 4 female MFM listeners (I know you don't like saying this anymore Sam, but it cracks me up almost as much as your ridiculous laugh does). So in the last year I built a tutoring business to support myself regardless of what happens in academia. The gems I get from MFM are priceless 🙌
In CS and single?
I’m at the bottom of the mountain right now. It’s hard especially as you get older and realize how hard it is to change. But I’m determined, I don’t know the path up yet, but I’m not going to stop looking.
The quickest way up the mountain without a known path is to hike it several times a day every day. You eventually make your own path, and after you reach the top you can see your well worn path that you make with repeated daily climbings.
If they can free solo a mountain you can reach your top with repeated, consistent Practice and introspections to evaluate your approach on each attempt.
Don't let the grit score define you Shaan! You're awesome!
Casually listening on my morning walk and when Shaun said you have to be subscribed to pod to get into west point I started dying laughing. Hit the like button for the day. Banger as always
Episodes are getting better every week. Definitely an episode I needed. 👊
Hey, West Point and US Naval Academy etc are free. My daughter went to the Naval Academy and we didn’t pay anything. It’s paid by taxpayers and it comes with a four year armed forces commitment after graduation.
So it's paid by taxpayers AND your daughter as well.
Cadets have grit
@@MG-kt1ck But the daughter gets paid during the four years, I believe
Great episode!
Tbh I love to see a genius like Scott Wu pursue entrepreneurship. He could easily be making a cool 7-figures working at a place like Citadel. That’s the type of gig many Olympiad medalists end up at (and I don’t blame them - those offers are nuts)
Glad I caught this one early for the texts. MFM is my favorite media ever. I like it so much I literally restart each new episode to listen twice. Last week I thought the Elon & Sam was so funny I had to share with my wife, making it a 3x listen. Thanks guys!
The tip about cognition is great. Looking forward to their future products/services. The tip about lunchclub is exciting - going to join. As much as I enjoy this show, the comments about a person potentially understanding their behaviors through the "glasses of personality assessment models" ...well...I find the comments here a bit sad. People all over are trying to understand themselves and some personality assessments are based in validated scientific models and are helpful to curious people.
If you guys were a recent college grad looking to work at a startup how would you guys try to find a startup job? And you can’t just say you would pick up all your things and move to San Francisco. Thank you guys! Love the pod!
Regarding Devin: NEVER trust the demo 😄
Thank you guys..
Love it, love it!! I remember M. Ishbia as the small scrappy PG during the Spartan Championship run in 2000! Insane how far he’s come! Another banger episode fellas. Per usual, Love from East B-more! (S. Trucking Co.)💯💪🏽
Thanks Shawn love 1 st , i'm a big fan of both you guys, would love to ask questions advice= would pay , not a mouch. love marketing.
The visual of going down the mountain and up again! 🤯🤯
Mat Ishbia is the greatest! Sat on his UWM Advisory Council for years. Best mortgage lender in the game, soon to be best NBA owner in the game. I went down to AZ in January and watched the Suns come back from 22 down to beat my beloved Sacramento Kings. Cheers!
Just as everybody else is saying yes, it’s free. Hey I love these guys but all they have to do like most other podcasts is just go on their their computer and look it up like in 5 seconds. Come on. Facts are important.
this is why i love playing the same old video games. i love it. i know what to expect and understand every boss to the point i can beat them in fewer blows
Still a lot of untapped potential for the YT versions of pods. If you boys are talking about how sick a website is, why is there not a screen recoding of the website up? Or just quick 3-5 second cuts of the products/thing you talk about to give a visual representation of. There's a little bit of this but it's severely underdone if we're being honest, IMO. Keep crushing it
I want to be bored with $600M in the bank
I think all the military academies, including west point, are free, well besides the fact you need to serve in the military afterwards
Glen Tullman is the ultimate speed runner. Built and sold Livongo for $18B. Was already in healthcare tech before that. Then started Transcarent right after. Just keeps playing the same game and making bank.
Shaan is the best storyteller
Guys - on the walk back vs speedrun thread, a well known example of someone that really did both: Jordan. At least I n some fields, it seems best for the world that you stay in your lane and just dominate. But agree with Sam, personally - do what seems fun.
The grit score is an accurate measure of your self perception of grit, not an actual measure of grit.
They are probably correlated, but not necessarily directly connected to each other.
Whats the Link to the Chicago radio station Article for David Protien?
Does the number work in the Uk? Assuming it’s a +1 usa number? I haven’t received a automated response from the text
Imagine Naval on MFM 🤯
We need this
My knowledge of the myers-Briggs test consists of I casually listened to the Johnny depp amber heard trial and the expert said how there are trick questions for people who try and score a certain thing and Amber scored high on the "bait car" questions
40:42 this should have been your cold open!
Sixth aren't bad 🙂Love the show!
"They gave you a fortune cookie"...HAHA what a line!
Between all of the companies I worked for/ colleges classes I attended, I think I might have tried 20+ different personality tests. They're pretty general... A stopped clock is right twice a day. Also Shaan have you done 23andme? we might be related🤔
Swole Puri letting them pythons breathe. Looking jacked
I'm subscribed, West Point here I come.
3.80 - about 50% gritty
Is the texting thing only for US people? Dope shirt on Shaan btw!
Are you talking about the bottom up or top down approaches?
I guess Royce Du Pont will be mentioned on this pod anytime soon.
That's not a safety net that's a safety floss... 🤣🤣
3.8 "You scored higher than about 50% of American adults in a recent study."
Grit Score: 4.3 ( scored higher than about 80% of American adults). It would be interesting to see if there are patterns with high scorers: hardships they've been through, what age they had the hardship, etc.
I'm astounded at Sam saying he doesn't know what an integer is 😂 Makes me realize maybe I shouldn't study math
4.8 grit score. But maybe that’s cause I started a business and really want it to succeed 😂
4.80 - You scored higher than about 99% of American adults in a recent study
Psych here. There are SO many more legit personality based tests such as the 16PF, NEO, etc. I've reached out to the lads if they want some legit testing done I'm happy to facilitate!
I'm in London, cannot seem to text, do you have this on whatsapp? wouldn't that be easier to limit people and let people in?
Am I the only non-native English speaker who can't figure out what "thrill of the schill" means? ChatGPT doesn't even know
3.5 😥I am gritless
Rather than a text message that excludes us overseas can you just do a voice memo loaded onto a website blog like style? Seems so much easier and cheaper.
Also Shaan, Ecommerce Masterclass please. I'd listed to an hour on CAC, LTV, stock forecasting, apps to use and the list goes on
Droping this comment as bait for scammers
I'd love to see a deep dive on Devin, but like a real one. These guys are impressive, yet the product is not - not yet. It's going to get (hopefully) only better than this with time and work, but there was definitely too much hypa about it in recent days based on what they showed - which is understandable, as e.g. both Patrick and John Collison have invested in the $21M round.
Palmer lucky next!
Got 0.2 grit score💪🏻 best of the best
Ecom friends are Ramon,Moiz and Shaan ....
3.7, 50%
and I've been told I'm very gritty
😅
With Gary V if he had to start from “zero”… he could make $5M in speaking fees the next year.
3.60 here
Hey guys, is your text group working for foreign numbers? Seems like we don’t receive any text back sadly
Same I’m from Uk and i never got a response
@@parox1139 I got a response, but it didn't deliver the double-opt-in link sadly.
Of course not.
Come on ! Everyone should make whatsapp group
Hope to get part of the group next time 😅
I got 4.5 on the grit score
Shaan’s an ENFP or ENTP for sure.
Very likely. Most probably an ENFP.
got a 4
Walk back !!!!
3.6. I lose. I see a 4.0 guy down there.
the shirt matches the beard
23:00 - I'm with Shaun. The "Grit" test is unreliable at best.
Scored 2.4! Lowest score wins right?
these tests can significantly improve team dynamics by aligning roles with personality strengths, something often overlooked in early-stage startups. Often the right person in the right role can be the difference between scaling fast or stalling out.
these test are total bs - watch close who you work with and you will see who is who on your team
I wonder what my score would be. 🤔
1.7 is my grit score 😂
what are your MBTI's?
I didn’t text because I’m from Australia. I don’t want to add to your existing cost. Sms are like $4 to Australia. You’re welcome 😂
I got a 5, I think I need to see a therapist. My colleague once called me relentless so I don't think I lied on that test.
Has it made you super successful?
@@dominiquezivkovich-brady Not a billionaire yet so I guess not? I was a top 0.5% ranked competitive gamer at one point. Network Engineer wagie for big corp. Early days into business so will see how I go (29 years old atm (running out of time)).
Interesting! Seems to fit! I would love to know how some of the extremely successful entrepreneurs score. All the best. I’m over the hill at 38 😅
Hard to find something that isn’t routine.
I think the person 2 is moiz Ali brother of sul ali

My grit score was 3.9
I got a 5 ;)

My nick name is Gritty Graham, I don’t need a test to know my score, 5+. 100+ comments on your Channell, I’d bet that’s top 5, just paying my dues. Your welcome.
"So how much did you pay for your house?" -Sam Parr
I got 3. That test sounds like BS. I'm broke and lazy.
I've never commented but you got me. Absolutely love the podcast BUT......Why do Americans go through such length to avoid Whatsapp?! You just reinvented an app the rest of the world uses. Please give me answers, it keeps me up at night.
I want the wife hunting! I am surprised that Tinder doesn't have the AI that would match me with my significant other, I am struggling to sort through minutiae 🥵 I am just waiting for my perfect female robot partner to go in production for consumers💜
