There’s a pretty interesting video floating around about how JK Rowling just wrote starwars with sucky lightsabers meaning that she followed a formula that’s worked several times before.
And George Lucas followed the formula of the Ramayana he admits... (along with some insights from Dune novel).
Just another example why people say "There's nothing new under the sun." Seems like everything is just an improvement on something else already created. BUT, hey if someone polishes something up with a new look and makes million$, then more power to them!! (and more entertainment or convenience or comfort for the masses I guess...+ more for someone else to borrow the idea and build upon for something even newer).

James Patterson created the Alex Cross detective series. Black detective in the DC area. Cmon gentlemen. Morgan Freeman starred in a couple books made into movies. Kiss the Girls and Along Came a Spider. His co authored stuff I’ve read hasn’t been great. His Alex Cross series is top notch.
I don't think he actually done 132,000 words in 3 weeks. I think he just don the original story or basically part one of Wool called "Wool: Holston". There are 5 parts by the way which adds up to 132,000 words.
The Terminal List is one of the highest-rated series based on the book on Prime - Chris Pratt plays the main character.
