BARTHOLIN CYST- My Story & PREVENTION! How I Got Rid of the Bartholin Cyst! Home Remedy!

  • Hi everyone! I decided to make this video about my Bartholin cyst story. There are so many women out there struggling with this issue and I hope I can help with this video. I mention taking the GNC brand of turmeric in this video but I have since changed the brand of turmeric I am currently using, the link is down below. I take 6 of those pills daily to prevent the cyst. I am also focusing on an anti inflammatory diet in hopes it can help with preventing the Bartholin cyst from coming back. I still keep up with my regular lifestyle although this happened to me. Let me know if you have any questions! Take care!

I discovered a small bumb on my left gland last week. Being a believer in holistic healing; I started using warm compressor (dip cotton in hot water and put on the cyst). After that i used an ear bud to put few drops of apple cider vinegar. The cysts started thrombing and became painful. At this stage I knew It was about to pop or drain. When I woke up today, there was no pain, when I checked....the cyst had shrinked. Thanks God for revealing this information to me that Doctors don't provide. This is an answered prayer. Thank you Jesus. I will continue to use the heat compressor and ACV for few more days to kill it completely.

Surgery cured my Bartholins Cyst, permanently! I had a recurring cyst, I remember one tume, crying in pain on the phone to my doctor. He was suggesting I sit in a warm salty bath when, suddenly, it burst...the pressure and pain were relieved immediately. The surgeons asked my permission to cut down to the gland, then sew it open...sounded odd, but they advised this would prevent the cyst from returning, so I agreed. That was over 25 years ago and it NEVER returned. Best decision I ever made. Good luck ladies and don't take no for an answer x. Thank you for sharing your story.

Hi, I’ve been dealing with these cysts for a little over a year now and they come back A LOT. My Dr was talking about having the bartholin gland removed. Is that what you did? Or was it only partially removed? Please give me your opinion, I’ve done research talked to multiple Drs, I just want to take care of it and not constantly worry when I feel a “tinge” down there that it’s coming back. Any advice you can give will help. This is such an awful thing to deal with!

I love your honesty. Having dealt with bartholin cysts for 10 years, now I know a few things about it. Cyst is just a symptom that tells us that our body is inflamed. It's like a low-grade fever that goes on inside our body and kills the good bacteria in our gut and private parts. So, the bad bacteria have no protective barrier to penetrate through, and they can infect our skin and flesh more easily. You have figured out one piece of the puzzle, that is turmeric supplements. The other piece of the puzzle is apple cider vinegar. When I got the cyst for the first time, I washed it with an antibacterial liquid thinking that it would go away. It turned out to be worse. That liquid killed the little strain of good bacteria that I had in my body. So, I had to rush to the clinic and get it drained. It returned within a week, making me embarrassed again. Then I did my research like crazy and found that when you use too harsh soaps and antibacterial liquids to bathe, the ph value of your gland gets disturbed, and causes these cysts. So, I treated my gland with diluted apple cider vinegar and it worked like magic. I also avoid taking antibiotics for mild fever and similar diseases because I don't want to suffer from this painful cyst again. Dietary changes also help a lot. I agree.

Another supplement that really helps is Silica complex. 🥰🌺 Also add natural salts to your sitz bath like himalayan, epsom or dead sea salt. I've had 3 cysts in my first year, now im 1 year free in my second. I also take magnesium it helps with hormonal regulation, I drink fresh ginger teas. Now after one year, I feel it getting a little painful lately and I immediately stress and feel so upset about it returning, but it is the beginning of my period and the last months I did not take good care of myself and drank a lot of alcohol. Also stressing about it surely isn't helpful. Then, when listening to other women on youtube always makes me calm down, your video really helped me to realise im not alone

In Canada, just ask to see a gyno. There are two Bartholyns glands so you can get one removed. The surgeon will explain that it’s a really difficult surgery and a rough recovery because they need to leave the wound marsupial (open) so it can heal from the inside out. You will need to use a spray bottle to wash yourself properly after surgery when using the loo and can only pat, no wiping. It’s just a gland that can get blocked, it has nothing to do with being dirty or anything gross. They usually resolve themselves in a few years so most women don’t opt for the painful surgery. However, if it is hot and painful or impeding your ability to do things like walk, you need to be admitted for surgery right away. The infection can go to your blood and make you septic so get to a doc if you have those symptoms. I’m not sure what she is speaking about with regard to shame or why y’all can’t get answers. These are very common, a lot of women don’t even know they have them. Mine took more than a decade to go away but it finally did after I got the Mirena IUD. Not sure why or if it broke during that surgery. Good luck everyone.

Thank you for this video! I've had these since 16, and I'm 40 now. I've had so many I can't even count them, there was a year I had 1 every other month. I did end up having the surgery to remove the Bartholin gland. It does really feel shameful every time especially since back then I didn't have a good dr and was going where ever I could for ASAP help, and they automatically associated this with an STD but I never had one. It's very isolating, and and scary, I'm really glad you put this video out there to help younger girls realize, its ok, and they are not alone. I ended up having the surgery for a Bartholin but after 15 years, its still happening, and my OB said it actually a Labia cyst. So I didn't even get the right surgery. There needs to be more awareness about this. And our girls need to be better educated about their bodys. Thank you for sharing your story!

I had a balloon catheter put in on both sides and they work wonders, ducts get blocked, so a balloon cath forms a new hole in the incision so if the duct gets clogged again, there's a hole there for drainage, no more cysts. The Gyno did my first one and the balloon was too big so I couldn't make it past 5 days but it was long enough because the hole is still there after 3 years, the left one was 7 days. Its a bit uncomfortable and can be painful but its so much better than the pain of a cyst. And 5 to 7 days is worth it. I took 3 sitz baths a day so the cath didn't cause an infection to keep it clean while in and you have to pat dry when you pee. Its worth it and studies show 98% dont get a cyst back ever.

      1. Wear a breathable fabric, I would suggest to not wear tight undergarments, wear a boxer instead. It will lessen the chance of infection and will give an instant releif.
      2. CONTACT A DOC BEFORE TAKING THESE( they are the main remedy that helped me tho)

      5. STAY AWAY FROM SUGAR !!!& CARBS
Bad diet is one of the reasons for hormonal imbalance and creates inflammation in our body.
      6. Eat Vegetables, and less sugary fruits. Don't drink fruit juices, Eat fruit.

I’m 64, I had one when I was 16. The size of a golf ball.
I had no pain. My dr. Found it during an exam. She took a sample to check for cancer, it was neg.
Within a month I had surgery.
They did not remove my gland but did a procedure where it was drained, a drain inserted and the cyst was stitched open so it wouldn’t fill back up until it healed.
I’ve never had an issue again.
    It can be fixed.

@@lolaa.3460At first sitz bath worked but after a few of them, they no longer worked. The ER will do it and have them put in a balloon catheter so they dont come back. The balloon will cause a hole and new skin forms to make that hole stay so when your duct gets blocked again, you have a hole where it can drain again properly. It really works it just feels uncomfortable for as long as you can keep it in.

I took Tumeric Curcumin to help with the inflammation, and i took a sitz bath for 30 minutes, the sitz bath i used contained only warm water and salt. Later that same day, the cyst ruptured and drained. I continued taking the cyst bath once a day for a week after the cyst ruptured to ensure it continued to drain. The cyst is gone fully and everything is back to normal. You can also try using Echinacea Goldseal which is a natural anti biotic that reduces inflammation. A bartholins cyst is basically when the Bartholin's gland has been inflammed.

I had the cyst on the Bartholin gland inflamed and huge for over a month, and the last few days it was hurting a lot. Yesterday I started taking Turmeric (3 times a day) and 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar with a glass of water, before bed. I also did a sitz bath with water and about 300 ml of apple cider vinegar for approximately 40 minutes. I massaged the cyst for 20 minutes and went to bed. This morning the cyst burst, it was a mess and it got blood all over my pants too, but it drained completely and I'm not feeling any more pain!! She didn’t explain where it came from or what I should do. Months later when experiencing pain from intercourse, I realized it got bigger and was becoming a problem. Went back to OGBYN and they finally told me about it and what to do. The doctors can be so useless and unhelpful and it’s so sad. I felt so unsupported. I'm so glad you were willing to make this video because a lot of out there can definitely benefit from it but I really think you should find some other gynecology office to go to if you haven't already. A six hour wait time when you're in pain or at all is horrendous and unacceptable for that sort of visit. Regarding bar soap, soap can through of the natural female pH. You should only clean externally down there and only use water for the inside because the female vagina is a self-cleaning system but using soap or some other product and/or fragrance internally can mess up that process. For the external part you might want to try swapping for something like the cetaphil or cerave fragrance free soap bars and/or body wash because it's similar to the soap experience without actually containing soap but still cleans and once again, other than rinsing really well with water, avoid using the products directly internally. I hope these tips help you with your vaginal health because as you stated, not all professionals inform women properly so we need to discuss these sorts of things to help others who don't know them.

They are hell on earth! I had a Marsupialization 2 years ago and it just had came back Saturday night this past weekend (on my birthday gahhh). The cyst had turned to an abscess by Sunday night. I was in tears the pain was so bad, honestly unbearable. The size of a golf ball. I was too afraid to do a lot of the remedies, I didn’t want chemical burn or to make it worse. I did a lot of sitz baths and a lot of extreme hot compresses until I could see my GYN on Monday morning. Finally, Monday night it popped. Instant relief. I seriously cried in relief and slept the best sleep of my life. I’m on the mend with antibiotics and feel so much better, but now it’s just that “what if” of it always recurring. It’s so sad and frustrating. I feel for every woman who goes through this, because the pain is just so extreme and so debilitating. You literally can’t walk. The one thing I noticed was that once mine came to a head (yuck) it was on my past scar from Marsupialization. It eased me to know that I found a remedy to be able to let it naturally burst at home, but it’s worrisome because I feel like it’ll NEVER stop. Stay strong ladies, we got this!
Side note: I see a fantastic male Gyno who explained why it happens. The duct gland gets clogged due to thick discharge/and or too much of it.

Going through this currently, hence finding your video. I have had it a few years ago for the first time and I was suffering, like really suffering. Couldn't move, walk, sit, nothing. The pain was excruciating. I went from December to April with this pain before they did an operation. It was clear after that for a long time and now it's back 😰
Why do women have to go through sooooo much?
Well I'm going to try the warm water bath more often. Can't believe the doctors were clueless and tried to give me antibiotics which clearly didn't help.

I’ve had them a few times. They really do hurt. But what I do when I feel one coming up, I get a bowl of warm water. As warm as I can stand, then I soak a washcloth in it and apply it for about half an hour. Just keep wetting the cloth. It usually pops the next day. Good luck ladies. It’s nothing to be ashamed of.

Hi.. yesterday, I was on my Ob check up since I also have Bartholin Abscess. YES, it hurts.. so my OB doctor immediately proceed me to the Emergency Room to prepare me to the Operation Room to do the Marsupialization..it's a mild surgery to drain the pus and fluid inside the cyst and make permanent opening so that the vaginal fluid will no longer be blocker.
And Now, I get better. 🥰🥰

thank you for making this video, it helped me so much! I got my first one my freshman year of college and it was so embarrassing because I had never been to a gyno and I had to go to three different doctors before they finally helped me - two of which told me it was an std which 1) it literally isn't and 2) It couldn't have been because I had never done anything. It's now a year and a half later and I currently am going through my 4th cyst and it still sucks and its still embarrassing but videos like this help reassure me that it's normal and that other women are going through this too.

I’m so glad you didn’t believe them about the STD. I am middle-aged and I’ve recently had conversations with women who had some minor thing in college, who went to the health center, and who were told they had herpes when in fact they did not. The doctor didn’t even give them a blood test, he just would diagnose them with a lifelong STD. It was truly shocking to hear that this happened to multiple women at various different colleges.

I had to go in and get the cyst drained and it was the single most traumatic office visit. I expected the numbing shot to hurt, but took it thinking it’s for the best and I won’t feel anything after. When I tell you she started slicing at me and I felt every cut. She stopped to give me more novacaine and proceeded to slice again and I felt it again! My BP spiked, I was sweating and on the verge of tears. After she was done, I was told I was free to go and was basically pushed out the room. I walked a few steps out of the room and fainted in the hallway.
I have another one and I want it drained but I’m so scared of the same thing happening again 🥺😣

No need for needle or surgery, because even with surgery it comes back(unless you have the surgery that removes Barthonlin completely.)
if you can bare the pain for 5-7 days and the braveness of popping yourself, simply just be patient and wait until it’s giant and painful af, then squeeze hard, for just a sec, just bare the pain for that sec. It pops.
Tip: coconut water helps for easing pain (releases the inflammation) during that 5-7 days waiting

Thank you for sharing your experience. These are excruciating. I noticed with certain soaps it dries the skin out and irritates the gland. I like that we can learn here and it’s normalized because it’s something many of us can relate to. I popped my first one with a needle after sterilizing by burning the tip of the needle and then sanitizing in rubbing alcohol. They don’t recommend you do this but it was such a relief. 😮‍💨 looking forward to trying the things you mentioned.

I feel your pain, I too suffered from this. When I was about 21 I developed a cyst. I had no clue what was going on down there and I was also embarrassed and ashamed. I went to the gyno and they sent me to the ER to get it lanced. The doctor who treated me was definitely a psychopath! He accused me of having STD and scolded me as he drained my cyst with no pain relief. It came back after that and luckily I saw a different doctor which was so much nicer and kind. He was baffled at my previous experience. I ended up having surgery and haven’t had any problems.

27 years of my life, never had a bartholin cyst until september 2023. Came back from a vegas trip and two days after my right labia swelled to like the size of my thumb over night. Couldn't walk, couldn't sit. Scheduled an std check with obgyn. Week later, my appointment comes. I was so ready for antibiotics or whatever the obgyn was going to offer me to get rid of whatever this painful swelling was. She took one look and was like its a bartholin cyst. Its abcessed so I'm going to have to drain it. 🙃 the lidocaine cream did nothing to numb the pain when she made 2 incisions to drain it. Gave me antibotics to take so that it wont come back when Im healing. Std check came back all negative by the way. Thought that part of my life was over and I wouldn't have to deal with it again. Now there is a small pea sized lump on my left labia. It literally appeared while I was at work and 2 days into my period. I think my period/hormones triggered it. Its only painful when I squeeze it but its not swollen or abcessed yet. I want to nip this in the bud before it gets to that point. I bought a sitz bath salt today and took tumeric pills. I put coconut oil and tea tree oil on a cotton pad and have it placed directly on it. Earlier tonight I had a hot compress on it as well. I'm literally using everything in the book and what I can find info on to try and get rid of it. It sucks because I've never had these cysts before and all of a sudden I'm getting them one month after another.

Thank you so much for this! I just turned 31 and I had my first experience with one last week. I noticed it last Sunday night, it gradually got worse throughout the week and by Wednesday it was the size of a small grape and it felt like it needed to be popped... My pain level was about a 9 at that point. That night, I took advil and slept with a warm towel between my knees (side sleeper, too) I remember waking up in the middle of the night around 3 am after feeling a slight pinch and then immediate relief. and I mean immediate. I thought I had a stroke and died because the pain just wasn't there anymore. I ran to the bathroom and it was literally running down my leg, gross I know but it's our body. I took a hot shower as hot as I could stand it, I washed myself with the Yellow Dial Soap, my OB always recommends that because it's antibacterial and wont cause irritation. After that, I think I had the best night's sleep since before my daughter was born. It's Monday morning and since last Thursday morning I've been so much better, knock on wood. I'm keeping the area really clean and using Neosporin to help the skin heal and also to keep bacteria from my skin from infecting it any further. I've also been taking Tumeric since Thursday morning! I'm never going to stop taking it! Especially after seeing your video! I cannot tell you how much this, and so many other comments have helped me. Literally life saving. I have a side note: One thing I have been taking for the last 6 months is the Vital Protein collagen gummies. I only take a serving a day, BUT I wondered if that maybe caused the gland to get clogged? Hell I don't even know. I'm just glad it's gone! That was just the only thing I've really done differently lately. Anyways, sorry for the long ass post! I hope you have the best day!

I had to live with that cycle abcess breakout, getting full, burning, popping by itself until, I got my own job at 19 and went to a gyneco who placed a name to my abcess, made surgery and turn the inner skin where the bartho was repetitive and voila!

I’ve had this happen twice and yes, it is so painful! I ended up at the ER both times and it did end up draining on its own. Immediate relief, just like you said! But they did keep me two days each time because my white blood cell count was raised and there is then a chance of sepsis and if you get a proper dose of an effective antibiotic, the cyst might not come back. Fingers crossed! I’ve had two because the first was the right gland and then the left. I do hope that’s the end of it! Mine had gotten infected with group B strep, so yes, it is often not even std based at all. It can be and if so, treating that might fix it. Being over 40, if it comes back, I need to have a biopsy. The hospital I went to, while wonderful and caring, doesn’t have an on site OB gyn so they didn’t know that standard practice is to biopsy the mass if the patient is over 40. Just also good to keep in mind. And hot baths with epsom salt and sitz baths do help but it can be a gradual and still good to go to er if you are feeling off because the infection could cause sepsis, even if it pops and you are no longer in pain.

Hey I gotta say thank you for making this video! I have had this cyst on my left llabia majora for a couple of years already. I know exactly what you went through during those painful times. It's like a toothache, I've grown accustomed to the discomfort and pain I feel down there every now and then.
I went to a gynecologist who initially promised I would only need to do 2 tests in order to move forward with surgically removing it. After 3 failed gynecologist appointments and a medical bill that's close to almost $8000-$10000, this damn csyst feels like it's superglued to my body. I only spoke to the doctor once. Never got a detailed explanation for my CT and ultrasound scans. Let me also notate that prior to losing my job, I was told that an MRI was also needed to be performed. I can't tell you how many times I felt completely helpless and deceived by these medical doctors. It was always one test after another. Just so they could rack up on my insurance bill. Just like you said, I never had this type of issue in my life. I thought that maybe I gained weight and that could have contributed to its formation. However, there was absolutely no explanation to this except the fact that I accidentally cut myself by shaving down there and it might've gotten infected. I also got the covid vaccination, and I thought maybe that might have been the cause. Not to mention, I haven't had a normal sex life due to this cyst. Wait, did I say normal? In fact, I haven't had any intercourse since I broke up with my ex this year in March. Can't even get off any more because it's always in my way. My physical, mental and psychological state have been immensely influenced. I definitely don't mean in a positive way either.
I don't have medical insurance now and truthfully, I am disgusted by the run arounds you get from wanting to set up an appt with a traditional gynecologist. I've tried removing it and there's no way I can get rid of it. I'm going to try what you did and see if that works. I am certain about one thing, though, it is something having to do with our genetics. Evidently my Grandma had it a couple of times and had to get it surgically removed. I remember you stated that you're aunt had gotten it before. Anyway, I don't know what to think about this anymore. Nowadays. There's so much on my mind... The last thing I needed was some strange bump on my private parts. At times, I feel like this is some curse. I'm 37 I've been shaving down there since I was 15. None of it makes sense. Coming back to what you said about any research done on this, you're completely right! The doctor's don't even know much about it. I guess gotta take matters into my own hands by trying different methods in getting rid of it for good.

@maggiemaybe8739 Make sure to always make an appointment at Planned Parenthood before you get there. Their lines can be exhausting as well. It's almost as of the system is made for bearing children the #1 priority. However, this can affect a woman's overall health status immensely. This meaning the damn cyst of course.

I turned 13 in December, fast forward to January I had one, and it DOES NOT GO AWAY. I’ve had it the same time period every month in this year so far and it hurts bad. This month, I found out I got the track team, then next thing you know I have an abscess. But I used Vaseline last month and it worked wonderfully the next day, it’s like I didn’t have it. So I might try that technique but that’s why I’m here. I don’t know because it affects everything I do. I had surgery in January though but I had to wait like 2 hours and I had to sit in a wheelchair for the time being.

I had this in 2003 when I was pregnant. Very painful. I had to sit on a donut pillow at work. It was the size of a golf ball. After having it drained twice, I had surgery after I had my baby. Was definitely worth it. I had the procedure done in the doctors office and it was quick and relatively painless. It did not cause vaginal dryness, as there are many other glands, not just one.

Thank you for sharing your story. I’ve had 9 total bartholin cysts in a 2 year span. Many has been lanced and drained and it still has returned. Even a marsiapilzation failed for me. I now have a word catheter in supposedly for a month to keep in along with strong antibiotics. These cysts are extremely painful. Worse pain I have ever felt. You are not alone and what we go through will make us stronger. Thank you so much for the recommendation of using turmeric. I will look into that.
