Ekar 13s user here. I’m all for the addition of the extra cog on the SRAM system, as that change now provides the larger range, without sacrificing cadence consistency, which plagues mullet setups.
The cost that additional gear on this system though 🤯

For the price, that 2speed rear hub is starting to look like a better option with more range.

It’s like SRAM is opening the door for Clasified.

Its just to expensive for a gravel groupset I think. I would not like to replace that cassette to often... why the hate on the Ekar group btw? It works fine for me. Good shifting, nice breaks and not too expensive.

Same, I guess I'm just a retrogrouch who doesn't like needing to remember to charge my bike.

It’s super sensitive to alignment. You need a very stiff mech hanger for it work. It’s also very sensitive to cable friction and really does not work with modern cable routing, oh. And the cassette creaks. In fact it was so bad that Campag issued a tech doc on how to solve it. The solution often splits freehubs bodies. Oh. And the thumb shift is massive and in the wrong place, oh and the hoses connect with a banjo at the lever end making cable routing with bike fitting. I suppose the brakes are good. Except the floating rotors creak.

@@MapdecVodcast seems like we have different experiences. Maybe because I don't have the cables integrated in the handlebar. But I do recognize the creaking from the cassette! It's always good to hear both the pros and cons. Thanks for the reply! :)

You don't really get a big cog so you have less gear jump. It is just making the higher-speed gear ratio slightly smoother. But pushing the tolerance so tight could lead to more issues.

    Most boring and predictable "upgrade".

The thread fit PM chainrings are a welcome “fix” if it works….

@@MapdecVodcast to be fair they never should have made disposable chainring/power meter combos nor non rechargeable/battery replaceable blips. In what world was that an ok move? SRAM literally becoming an ewaste factory.

@PathLessPedaledTV now that we can very much agree on. 👍. Great channel BTW. Keep it up.
