Its a choice ive yet to make. My rational mind figures if this one delaminates ill send it in too? $150 in my pocket today is maybe worth more than a week without a bike. Not sure yet.
@@ericchristoffersen9355 delamination can, and has, caused injuries. Sounds like you're counting on walking away from the next delamination, which sounds like a risky bet. $150 doesn't go very far when it comes to medical bills...
@@MrKipperfishRight we can all make our own call. The utility is (cost of medical)*P(crank failure occurs and causes injury). From decades of riding my estimate is that the P for me is nearly zero, a risk im willing to take. Shimano recalled failed cranks, not all the cranks.
Ive found shimano is quite reasonable with warranty. A metal disc pad delaminated and destroyed the disc and they replaced both. Also theyve warranted 2 xtr pedals that wore in less than a year.
Stages officially bought by Giant.
I would use the new one or keep it just incase your older 6800 decides to delaminate like many of the others did.

Just buy the actual non bonded top tier crankset, the 105.
You got lucky then. Shimano doesn’t honor most warranty claims.

@kalijasin no one I personally know has had their claim denied. I want to say 6 or 7 people have gotten new cranks
