    Chris - I'm new to the channel just learning about you from your Wing Stuff pod cast with Rick. I've watched several of your videos in the past week and really appreciate them. I've had my 2005 1800 since Feb 2017 and this year am going to do my own maintenance. Because of work commitments, and not knowing how to tackle it I had the dealership do it the past few years. One thing I REALLY like about your videos is your commitment to cleanliness. When my father taught me how to work on cars in the '70's, he stressed cleanliness. You have those same values and it makes everything so much easier. So many great ideas of things to do while he bike is up to get it road ready for spring riding. Thank you for taking the time to put this out!

    One thing I do before I put the drain plug back in. Is I put an ounce of clean oil in the top and let it drain out through pushing out any dirty final drive oil. Then I put the drain plug in and fill it up. It's not something you have to do it's just something that I like to do. Great video keep them coming Chris

    Nice job Chris! I've been watching your videos and I must say you and your riding partners look to be having a great time out there. I've owned several HD in the past and now I'm considering a Goldwing (2017, hopefully soon). Continue doing what you do brother!

    The only thing I would have done different was I would do the tire inspection on and off the trailer before greasing bearings. Awesome job. Very thorough! You da man! A true Goldwing Guru. LOL RSMF.

    Many years ago i worked for an old mechanic in memphis who made me do over a wheel bearing pack because i used regular grease out of the overhead gun. He said wheel bearings required a long strand molecule grease rather than the regular short strand grease. I did as he said, and have for 50 years, and never had a bearing failure in any vehicle or any of the many trailers i have owned.

    Removing the right muffler makes this job easy. The muffler only has one bolt to remove and two clamp screws to loosen and it comes off. Easier especially if you have any rear brake work to do. I just did this differential oil change yesterday...

    Honda says to change the final drive oil at the same interval that you do the engine oil. 5000 mile recommended interval. The oil that Honda puts in is some nasty stuff. I refilled mine with Lucas 75 to 90 wt. It is clear in color, ( I know it won't be that way for long) but it doesn't have that nasty petroleum smell to it. I also went with Castrol full synthetic 10w-40 wt in the engine.

      Between me you and the fence post, I really had Lucas 80w90 for hypoid gears in the red oil can, I had just enough in the Honda bottle to top off the final drive less than 4 ounces, but I went to Napa and purchased a tall jug of Lucas gear oil that exceeds GL4 and GL5 to complete a gear oil change. If you notice during my overfill the fuild I was putting in was a light clear yellow fluid. I wanted to show what the dealer would recommend putting back without people opinions, but Lucas went back in my Final Drive. The Amzoil 10w 30 synthetic is what I run for the engine oil.

    Nice PM you did on your equipment. On your trailer go to Harbor freight and try to purchase yourself some torque sticks. They’re a great tool to add to your tools.

    Thank you for your video. Can you advise if the drain plug has a crush washer and if the fill plug has an o ring that needs to be changed. Thank you.

    How many miles can you run a 2005 goldwing before you have to change the final drive oil

    Chris: Any issue getting that rear tire "up inside" the fender wall when mounting? I've duplicated your setup on the rear exactly, I have a 2007 GL1800 and it almost looks as if the tire is too wide to fit into the "plastic" fender walls..Any tips for getting the wheel/tire combo on there? I'm assuming you didn't have to remove/modify the inner fender wall?

      It's fairly easy I have the same Tire 195 55 R16 on my 2007 Goldwing. When you put the tire up you need to push in on the top of the tire away from your body and pull out towards you on the bottom part of the tire that way it will go up inside the fender fairly easy

      @roygosse6762 5 років тому

      You don't need to modify the fender it will go up there just read my other comment or reply thank you

    I own a 2012 Goldwing and researching updating the Nav System but don't want to pay the big bucks. Have you found a workaround to update the GPS Map and firmware version?

    Once again you have Photoshopped a bike off the show-room floor into your garage. And a trailer too. There just ain't no way for someone that still works full-time and rides as much as you do that has a bike and trailer that clean. Why are you wearing gloves? Your final drive and wheels are clean enough to eat off of. The dirtiest thing in your garage was that light you were holding. Man I just don't know how you do it. I thought I had a clean bike until I watched your videos. I'm ashamed to take mine out of the garage now. You're killing me Chris.
