I opened a show once for Mims in my city of San Diego. He liked my set, so he called me back up on stage to perform "This Is Why I'm Hot" with him. It was the first time I had ever felt validation from anyone outside the city and from someone who had made it big. He doesn't realize this, but it was a life changing moment for me, because it was the first time I realized I could really be something. I love him for that, and have looked up to him ever since. The acronym of his name fits him EXTREMELY well!! I definitely liked "This is why I'm hot" song when it was being played in the clubs!! It just goes to show you that if the industry plans on "evolving" the way it is and how it conducts business then artists will remain lost without proper guidance. Executives will only be your friend if you're successful. It's like dealing with fake friendships, will never be by your side at your dirt lowest point in your life. Major labels are good but they're heartlessly deceptive in the end of the day. Going independent is better because the returns are greater and you'll have much LESS headaches to deal with when it comes to marketing an album, album production etc. Just really make sure that you're ready to deal with the pros and cons when stepping in. Rip to his parents.
