Thanks for the info! If you ever decide to release your patterns in formats compatible with most laser cutters, I would definitely be interested!

The nice thing about the P2 is that, if memory serves, while it does have its own dedicated software, it is also compatible with Lightburn.

I have an xTool M1 - smaller, less powerful but much cheaper version of this. I use it for all my smaller leather projects from keychains to wallets and small hand bags. Super fast and accurate, replaced both my knife and the punch tool. I basically only do burnishing and stitching by hand. There are only two issues - one being the smell and second the charring on the cut. First issue is non-solvable, it will stink no matter what you do, but it's bearable. Second is only an issue if you want to use light colored thread. But you can just make an outline of the hole instead of cutting it all the way, and punch it by hand. Still faster this way than using a stencil. Oh and Creative Tool, their proprietary program, is super easy to use! Limited in function, but even a child can figure it out.

Hi have also the M1 and it's brilliant for what I do. But M1 is a Diode laser and not CO2, so will not cut clear acrylic metal and other stuff.
May I ask you the thickness of the leather you normally use and the settings for both cut and engrave?
      Thanks a million in advance.
By the way, I use score where the stitches go, normally 3mm from hedge and I always make the wholes with the punch leather set, not with laser.
For better finishes on the hedges to not have that little burn, I use masking tape. Works as a charm.

I have a Glowforge Plus 40w laser I bought in 2020 specifically to cut leather and make stitching holes. Like Tony said, there's a lot of char on the edges, so unless I'm using dark thread on dark leather, I don't use it for that. Light colored thread gets really dirty when used with laser cut stitch holes. And cutting leather is indeed very stinky. I cut leather kits for workshops and it saves me a ton of time. I've run all sorts of other stuff in it-wood, acrylic, taskboard, mdf, and even card stock. It also runs about $5k but it paid for itself in the first year I had it. Xtool has a larger cutting area, and I like the dual cameras. Looks like it engraves a lot faster too. Very interested to see what else it can do!

Thanks Tony great presentation. What I'd love to know is how it compares to your Carbide 3D Nomad CNC machine which you displayed about a year ago as the CNC machine you use to make those beautiful brass stamps. Sounds like a good topic for next Sundays lesson. It's our Labor day holiday here in the USA, hope you had a day off too in your country. Say hi to Diane. Bye

If it can cut holes and pieces you could sell kits With the cut leather a spool of thread and a set of needles. Just order boxes in and bags and then give a choice of leather colour.

So if its super accurate the best question is can it cut all the stiching holes. Because if it. Can it just went from pretty good to amazing. If it can do that the only thing left is stiching. How long is the laser rated for and how would you go about importing patterns like the ones you sell?

Thanks for the review. It basically tells me that it isn't worth the effort to upgrade my old laser (it uses 32-bit motherboard).

It's a nice machine but I see 2 main issues with it for most folks. First obviously is the price. It's just at the point of being out of reach for most hobby folks. The second which I haven't heard to much about but it's a major issue with other machines like the Glowforge is does this have an offline feature or do you have to be connected to the internet to do your job?? If there is no offline feature allowing me to run the job directly from my computer without an internet connection then can it be run with a different piece of software say like Lightburn?? I mention this as I've heard from people who are using systems that you can only run if you have an internet connection for the software to work and if for some reason you lose your net connection your job can be interupted and possibly ruined. So it's definitely something else to consider.

I m looking for some advice
I bought the flux hexa a year ago and it was a nightmare I had very bad experience with constante service as the machine had some issues and they always washed their hands and just send me replacements but the machine never worked properly. After thousands of emails and phone calls they gave me a new one (they didn't want to refund)l've been using the hexa for 2 weeks already and so far is working fine. Anyway I post it on mercari for sale and there are so people interested in the machine as it's brand new and I used it just lest than 4 hours.
The thing is I need a laser cutter for my home-business and I need to buy a new laser if I sell the
    hexa.
So I was wondering how good is the xtool p2. I heard some bad comments qd in UA-cam it seems many people talk good things about it but I'm not sure how good is it.
I need it for engrave some works and cut 5mm MDF and 5mm acrylic.
What do you think I should do ?
I'm located in Japan and here there are not to many options as gf is not on sale in Japan. So I'm very limited to this 2.
Hope I can have some good advice.

Yeah, it's a game changer for those that can afford it, like you. But $4500 for a laser, and I'm not even in business yet? No, out of my range.
