Scientific Figure Preparation in Adobe Illustrator and Fiji - part 5: Charts and Graphs

Importing graphs into your scientific figure in Adobe Illustrator can be challenging and frustrating. In this section, we go step by step through the process of importing graphs from Excel into Illustrator and adjusting aesthetic elements for an attractive and consistent figure in three different examples. We first export the graphs to PDF in Excel, then open them as vector graphics documents in Illustrator. We take a look at the drawing elements of our graph in the Layers panel, then release the clipping groups from our charts to make them easier to work with. Next, we resize the graphs, position them in our figure, and adjust the text using Character Styles and line weights using Select Same to get consistently readable data graphs.

I imported my PDF from Tableau. When I delete clipping masks, everything is deleted! What do I do?

export it as an image file (jpeg/TIFF) and paste complete figure to make your word file or PDF.
