Hello, I'm playing this game but I couldn't get the sword at this point as in the picture! Why does the sword appear to you and not appear to me? Is there a reason? How to get it?
To be quite honest, it has 6 assistant programmers, 4 graphic artists and 1 musician, for a total of 11 people. 11 people was a shitload of people working on a home computer game for 1987 standards. I actually am always surprised by how many people worked on Konami MSX games, no wonder they were so good. Most MSX games from other teams were made by like 3 to 5 people. (In many cases, they were all made by a single person, heh)
Defeat all the bats in this room (near the necklace and the grey helm) , then jump on the lift and press: Right, Down, Left, Up. After you've got it type the code Umbrella (how odd) in a room with bats and watch!
The MSX reverb that the computer was known for really adds a lot of depth to the tracks. Especially the shrine and boss room themes (when you're trying to summon the boss). The reverb makes the latter sound a lot more intense. And the ending theme sounds a lot better in C Major than in B Major. Reasons like this are whey the MSX original is vastly superior.
Did people discovered back then how to obtain the dagger and vase by themselves? Or is it that the devs revealed the secret? Or maybe is it that the first person to discovered how to get them got his hands in the code? Because it looks impossible without some sort of help.
Jesus i try to play this gem on my bluemsx emulator but i have one problem :/ i can't jump left! is that some kind of a rom bug or something? or i have to do a crazy keyboard command for just jumping left... please i would appreciate so much if you could helped me.... i tried to download different roms but the problem stills goes on xd... Please i'm desperate i really want to beat this game. it looks really fun.
It's most likely a limitation of the keyboard. Because of simple hardware design, many keyboards have an issue causing keys to be pressed when multiple keys are pressed. For example cursor keys up and left pressed together with space will cause one of the pressed keys to get cancelled out. In your case, it seems the cursor up gets cancelled out in this situation. You should be able to jump by pressing up, even while walking left or right.
i do jump xd but the detail is that i press up and it jumps to the right... even if i'm not pressing the right button... so i try to jump left by pushing up and left at the same time... and it just jumps straight up... nor left or right... so i rage quit everytime i want to figure out how to jump correctly... ugh... is there a way to fix this? or what? i'm really mad about it :/
@@jesusvergel9288 Just remap the controls, fire 1 and fire 2, Z and X. It may work for jump in both directions. If not, remap the fire 1 and 2 to other keys.

This is my favourite game too from my childhood! :) I'm just wondering one thing. I managed somehow to get a shorter cap on the enemy-gauge-thing that makes your life get to its fullest level again. But, it appears that there is no item in the game that does this. So, I think I managed to do it by playing with the password-system. Anyone else managed to do this too?
If you ask me that’s not a full walkthrough because you didn’t hit pause and waited until the guy fell in the toilet ;) Not complete without that animation
+Santiago Ontanon You played the game on a European system, I assume? European systems used the PAL standard, which is 50hz, while the original NTSC standard is 60hz -- and since most Japanese games weren't optimized when they were released in Europe, they played at 5/6 the original speed. So basically, this footage isn't sped up -- rather, the version of the game you played was slowed down. ;)
+Wyrdwad Hmmm, you might be right. But I think that is very unlikely though. I did indeed play with an European system (a PHILIPS VG8020), but I just checked with the MSX emulator, and this seeps sped up a bit more than just a 20% more. But in any case, what makes me doubt this is the case is that the Z80 CPU is the same in all MSX1 computers (regardless of being Japanese or European), and that games back then did usually not rely on refresh rate to adjust game speed (although that is a common programing strategy nowadays, since we all have machines with different specs), but just relied on all computers having the same CPU. But again, even if I find this unlikely, of course, I might be wrong, and what you say is the right explanation :)
Santiago Ontanon I'm pretty sure I'm correct on this, as I own a Panasonic FS-A1WX Japanese MSX2+ computer and a cartridge copy of this game, and it plays for me at exactly the same speed as shown in this video. On the other hand, I've seen video footage taken from PAL MSX systems that play it and other games at a slower speed (music and all), and also know that some popular MSX Let's Players on UA-cam like BanjoGuyOllie have stated before that they record their footage via emulator instead of from their actual hardware because their actual hardware would slow it down due to the PAL standard. As I understand it, European MSX systems *are* capable of playing games at standard NTSC speed, but it requires a little bit of software modification via MSX-BASIC, and will make your system incompatible with PAL TVs (until and unless you switch it back), so it's recommended only for Americans who purchase European MSX systems and intend to use them to play Japanese MSX games. ;)
+Wyrdwad I see. Ok, then I think that explains it. I guess it's just because I'm used to the slower speed now, but the game feels all rushed at this faster speed :)

Being able to hurt the last boss requires finding the cross and when this game came out nearly 30 years ago it was fucking well hidden.
