This is probably the first really convincing demo I have heard of the MegaFM. A really nice variety of tones, and while I usually don't like drums/other elements in demos, the context was really helpful for this. Great stuff!
If you can believe it, that's just how the synth sounds. And I saw your unedited comments - no need to apologize. The drums and bass were just quick, static sequences, there to hold down the backend. Not the focal point.
Have you tried recreating patches from Genesis games using the parameters you can read from Genesis VSTs (Like Genny or Chipsynth MD)? I'd like to approximate some of my old favorites on this thing.
Hey! You sold me on the MegaFM which has become my favorite piece of gear. Have you tried the Blast Beats? I have one sitting in a cart but haven’t pulled the trigger.
I resold blastbeats within a month because: I just didn't want to learn a bunch of functions and key combos; I wasn't playing much music at the time; I found it harder to program the sounds I wanted relative to megafm; I wanted cash.
I feel you. I’m not completely sold on the sound hence my hesitation. I had to ask because your MEGAfm videos were what I was imagining the instrument would feel like. Hope all is well!
This seems like it would be amazing for techno and electronica. How is the build quality and the usability of those tiny sliders in a live performance way? Reminds me of Border Community type stuff. I like subtractive synthesis but I feel I know it too well and end up going over the same old territory. This seems ripe for experimentation. What reverb are you using?
I'm one step away from buying this synth. I think it's 100€ overpriced and can't tell if its worth 500€ more than Plogue's Chipsynth MD. But it does sound amazing. Sadly paying gears with music revenues is a dream of the past, but this is another topic
I hear you. I think the same could be said of most synths though, really: they're a functional luxury. I love FM and I love this synth for it. The most basic pad comes out sounding gritty and alive. I can't say I'll never part with it, but I can say if I do I'll regret it.
Why are people saying this is expensive? This is a niche piece of gear made in small batches in France, rather than massive quantities in China. €474 is less than the original run of the Elektron SIDStation, even before you factor inflation! I've bought individual Eurorack modules that were more expensive than this, and I've bought less featured standalone synths that cost nearly three times as much! I'm starting to think that Behringer's got everyone spoiled.
@@mrhs5220 When I ordered this I knew nothing about small producers. Two months later I know about Ambika, PreenFM and DIY kits. I get the price more now and yes, Behringer is not doing a good service to the market
@@mrhs5220 I know this is an old comment, but I totally agree. This is basically a high quality custom synth catered to a small group of people who loved the sound of the Genesis/Mega Drive. For what you get, The price is quite reasonable.
I really like the first patch demo, the song and melody is great but I think the synth was over modulated, led towards a strange distortion. No offend, just my humble opinion.
Fantastic demo. It went to some really weird but lovely places. Fitting for an FM synth.
Thanks Matt. That's also an apt description of life: 'it goes to some really weird but lovely places'.
This demo was so good it made me want to buy a synth I already own. Thanks for the inspiration!

never actually watched a gear demo that made me want to write music before. incredible
This thing sounds so unbelievably good. Or maybe it’s just your amazing sound design. It’s like Disasterpeace, the synth.
Thanks for spreading your generosity. It definitely excels at a certain sound.
Great sounds!! 🌌
More I am listening more I am loving it
Thanks for making these megafm videos!
Beautiful chord progression!
you make it sound organic, yearning and melodramatic.

@@MorningStrategy, I appreciate it.
Dope track
love the dark mood!
Cool man wonderful. You make me buy it!!!!
Those octatrack drums sound great
Damn that sounds good. Rhythm pattern, too.

I haven't. I need to find a good vid of Road Rash II.
Mine was just posted out. Damn out the gates strong with this sound 😊

wait, you're just running basic patches and this sounds like some of the best nullsleep sounds I've ever heard
who you calling basic

50+ arrive blank- these are custom patches. Proper fun ones, too!
Awesome!!!
Have you released the preset pack yet ?

The lack of ym3438 is disappointing for the high price, I would have preferred they just made it more expensive even just to get both chips on there

What's making those drums?
Octatrack
Do you have a tentative date for release of these sounds? Most of the presets that came with it had me scratching my head!
I wish I knew! I just got a Pro2 and have been spending a lot of time with it. I'll always recommend initializing and experimenting.
Hey, sweet sounds ! Out soon ?
Been out for close to a while now
hahah they've been out for never, in forever.

How's the build quality?
Pretty good, as good as anything from a major manufacturer.
@@MorningStrategy Great to hear that, thanks!

Awful stuff.
