There was no grappling in this case. Any smart ufc fighter would think to stop him from using his sword. Khabib grabs on to anyone they wont be going anywhere but the ground.

They were local strongmen who were further trained, until they rose up to elite levels of skill, and then they fought in a bloodsport. They weren't necessarily in the military, fighting wars. Dagestanis come from a long line of warriors, it was basically a nation born out of warriors. Those bloods run through Khabib's veins. But he's humble and it's beautiful. Nurmagomedov is extremely strong too. I'd compare his physical strength to even a lightweight gladiator.
And khabib is a very rare and special fighter too. Extremely dominant. They say, the most dominant fighter to have ever lived.
Ahnaf Atif WASSUP! yea he is a special Fighter without a doubt I won’t discredit him on that. However most of what you said could be seen as correct and incorrect as Some or even most gladiators were indeed War combatants but not of Rome but more as War captives forced to fight. Even on certain accounts there is records of Gladiators being called upon to fight for Rome in War. You could also argue blood of a gladiators veins also come from a long extension of warriors or soldiers considering this was Rome we are talking about. He is one of the best Grapplers I’ve seen but Striking Power and Kick Power he is not really up there but I guess it doesn’t matter when a lucky grab could put anyone out. Sure Khabib went against a bear but these people were going against Wolves,Lions etc. getting cut by Blades, pierced by Spears, Bashed in the cranium with Steel Bucklers. You get what Im trying to say? It’s just another level.
@@thelastgear8972 Yes, they were sometimes called to join the roman infantry, but that doesn't dislodge my primary argument. Also most of them couldn't ride horses or join the cavalry.(until the fall of Rome, when some military personnel also turned into gladiators)
nurmagomedov's ancestors lived among wolves and tigers from the caucasus, so that's not alien to him either. Plus, the regular gladiators didn't fight the beasts, as far as I know.. mostly they ones sentences to executions were feed to the wild ones
My point, there still would be a fight, better not to sell an elite martial artist short.
Plus the heavy weapon and equipment comes with a problem of their own, will make the wearer/ the wielder more lethargic and tired fast. And Khabib's plan is to make opponent tired, so he'll definitely exacerbate the gladiator's problem. He'll get plenty of time to react, and did you know khabib has an exceptional ability to make quick adaptation to adversity. This quality of his is overlooked by everyone , it's insane.
A boxer can't easily hurt an armored soldier, but a wrestler can first hold him, dismantle his armor, disarm him, and he'll get plenty of chance to do that.
BUT, as you said, if there's one successful bludgeon to the cranium, Game over, unfortunately. 🙂

Ones entire life is literally war, every day and every night since their childhood. The other grew up fighting most likely but never to the extent of a gladiator, had time to rest when he had to and got to live a civilian life not having to base his entire personality and existence off the art of war. hand to hand combat you can't compare , the modern fighter would destroy due to the years and years knowledge that has been passed down...even comparing a ufc fighter today to a fighter from the 90s, there's a large gap in skill

Your going to have to take a lightweight UFC fighter to be "matching height and weight" to a gladiator. Roman and Greek men averaged 5'6 and 140 lbs.

Never been this early befor.
I still don't people think ufc is a more gladiator sport than boxing because boxing always had a better chance of dying than a ufc fighter and ufc fighter's can't even throw a punch right and you can say all you want about their legs. But the legs are not going to do that much to a boxer you better have something better than that and don't try bring up about the boxing gloves because even boxers have 4oz gloves as well. So best thing to tell you if you really want to die in a sport then join boxing if not join ufc that's a fact.
