Upper Helm Seat Upgrade - Seamander Seat & Smooth Moves Suspension Shock Absorber

- In this video, I show you a recent DIY upgrade we did for our CHB trawler's upper helm captain's seat. Sadly, the original bench-type seating lacked both comfort and visibility. Adding a suspension and a new bucket seat has made a huge difference for Anne, especially if the seas get rough or for those long days at the helm. By painting the wood base a teak color and ordering the tan seat color option, the package looks great on our old 70s boat.

Thanks Ray. Like 75. The new Starlink mini is out in the US. Any thoughts on this? I saw your Starlink dish on the back of the boat. How is that working?
I guess if you need a mini size it's good but I have found this 2 gen dish has worked pretty well flawless for us in the RV in USA and Canada and on the boat along the BC coast and not really that big or heavy as the old round one. Got it a year ago on a 70% off deal offer for rural customers. $199 Canadian dollars. Recently they added an option to the app to make the dish stay flat which is good for when we are at anchor and spinning in different directions. Streaming the hockey game right now anchored in a bay off Cortes Island. :) Also our phones do WiFi calling so are connected for phone calls and text when out of cell range. Cheers, Ray
Good looking launch and new seat did you completely solve the leak issue
Yes, the leak definitely started on the flybridge along the base of the front seats. Since my reseal not a drop of moisture inside the main cabin. Whoever fiberglassed the deck when they replaced the original teak slat flooring messed up and let water pool in the corners versus slanting away to shed off the flybridge. If the sealant breaks down and a crack lets water past from the pooled water it works its way into the cabin ceiling and wall. I have bought some scupper drains to install that should prevent the pooling and then stay on top of the sealant. Still have to open up the wall and ceiling and repair any damage but that can wait. But at least I know now what is happening. :) Cheers, Ray
