Those were some intense bird battles, my man. Also, I knew right away you'd bring back the thylacine lol. Your plans for New Zealand sound epic, and I can't wait to see what you film. I know this isn't much in the grand scheme of things, but I just wanted to give something to help with your move. You really make fantastic content, and you deserve wayyy more views. This is just a little thank you for the hours and hours of entertainment. Now go find that moose!
There are ospreys down here around Poole harbour these days. Otters on the near by Stour as well. Good one for seeing a weasel, I've only seen them on horseback (me, not the weasel, that would be odd), horseriding is good way to get close to "stuff", the wildlife seems to mostly recognise the non-threatening horse rather than the blundering biped upon it's back. Seen a bunch of reptiles that way too. If you want to see kingfishers, I recommend you take up fishing, you'll be in competition for the same quarry that way. Quiet, calm and patient, then they will fly through like the bloody Red Arrows. You will miss them unless your camera is already recording, but you will enjoy their dynamic flash. I know it is a cliche, but they may even sit on your rod tip. All the best for NZ. Up the jays! The showstopping flamboyant magpie, but better!
A great episode Cookie. Many thanks. I’ve not been to Rutland Water for a long time but it seems to be much richer in wildlife than it used to be. You’ve got some great places on your wish list…if you need someone to carry your bags..
I’m looking forward to your NZ trip. Home to some of the most unique and threatened animals on the planet. Bring back some great reports and rediscover some lost species!
Great video and great plans! (Now that leopard DNA has been collected in the English countryside, will you be making any plans to give them another go?). Great weasel and prey photo by your mum too by the way.
Went to Canada a while back, saw a few Ospreys and they were big! bigger than any other bird i have seen! even saw a nest with 2 adults and presumably babies inside.
Regarding otters, I don't think they really have a set time for them to be out. I know the ones in North America are a different species, but I think they're pretty similar. I've only seen one in the wild, and it was around 1pm. I've also seen people get otters on their camera traps in the middle of the night. I guess you just gotta find a good spot to sit and wait. Great video as always!
awesome video! as a small fun fact: apart from preference, cormorants will usually be around dead trees because their excrements end up killing the tree they roost or breed on over a large period of time
A good place to spot the Osprey in Scotland is Hillend Reservoir, in North Lanarkshire. They don't nest anywhere near but travel in for the easy picking of stock trout. It's good there because you don't have to travel too far North.
it would be great going to nz for a while, get a lifetime of footage to bring home for future vids, great video as always. weazles and stoats have to be my fave, they are sooo elusive
Lovely a 30 minute one I can sink my teeth into, love it man great work! Great to see you used my idea of using a hide for a kingfisher, unfortunate that it didn’t work tho😂
Great video. I saw some captive wildcats earlier, watched them for around 3 hours it really surprised me how many people walked past it thinking it was just a normal cat and not the rarest animal in the country
We had an Osprey @ Brockholes nr Preston a couple of years ago; me and my son saw it perched on the M6 bridge over the Ribble; I was gobsmacked; unfortunately it was killed by a truck a few days later..
Challenge for you. Find the otters in Stratford upon avon. They are here. photos were taken in lock down and they have been spotted this year down by the chain ferry. They have also been seen on the canal in July this year 2023 and there are multiple videos on you tube over last couple of years
Another really good place to see Whale sharks is Mafia Island in Tanzania. I was there 5 years ago for 2 weeks volunteering and saw 7 or 8 Whale Sharks
It's one of the most wide ranging birds in the world, I believe they live in almost every continent. Though some people refer to them as an eagle they are in fact in a completely different family- old world vulture are more closely related to eagles than ospreys are (same family). The latin for osprey with Pandion Haliaetus. Ospreys unlike the sea eagles, actually dives feet first into bodies of water to catch fish which is unique as most other fish eating raptors just skim the surface to catch fish. Most of our Ospreys migrate to Western Africa, young Ospreys will stay for around two years in Africa before returning to the UK while adult ospreys leave and return annually. Have you tried for honey buzzards yet? Too late for this year but would be cool to get next year. Saw my first weasel and pine marten this year both in France, the weasel about 5 minutes from the house and the pine marten in the Pyrenees.

Holy shit dude, Cookie's going to go wild when he sees this!
Damn man, can’t thank you enough for that, I really appreciate it. Super generous of you ❤️
What a beast!
@wildworld6264
Nice one buddy! That is very kind.
Hope we enjoy! it's been a while
Another top quality banger from yours truly Cookie

It’s really booming! Or at least it was while I was there. Are you NZ based?
This is the earliest I've been to a WWC video ^-^

Great video again! Lovely seeing you with your mum! Greetings to her :)
Great action packed video cookie 👍👍

Wicked! Can imagine the wildlife there is great

Bro it’s been to long, I’ve been waiting
Another great video cookie 👍
I appreciate it, thank you mate
I saw a lesser spotted woodpecker in Alum Scar nr Blackburn, Lancashire when I was a lad; Hawfinches also allegedly exist nearby.

awsome!!
Is the van new?
Nah it's the old folks, I borrow it from time to time
What pops up bottom left of the screen from the water at around 11:27?
Dead fish I think lol
What are you doing with that van selling???
Your rarest bird isn’t a Hawfinch or a lesser spotted woodpecker, hen harriers, white tailed eagles, ospreys etc are quite a bit rarer.
What's the difference between a weasel and a stoat?
A weasel is weasily recognised and a stoat is stoatally different!
You should have called in to Leicester Victoria park on the university buildings you would see Peregrine falcons city centre
we have them in Leamington Spa, where I live. 4 fledged this year which is cool
yay a question from me ·͜· ︎︎
oh all of them! 😂
Haha you had a lot to ask!
I saw an extremely violent fight between two black birds.
There were broken nails and hair weaves everywhere!
