  • Another bird documentary with surprisingly little about online, this time taking a look at Ospreys and narrated by Sir David Attenborough.
The osprey is back and breeding in England after an absence of 150 years.
This is the story of how a 10-year partnership between Anglian Water,
the Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trust, the Highland Foundation
for Wildlife and hundreds of volunteers has brought these amazing birds
from the Scottish Highlands to the shores of Rutland Water.
David Attenborough explains how these birds, driven to extinction in
England, have been brought back from the brink and are now a regular
sight at Rutland Water. From the first translocation of juvenile ospreys
from Scotland in 1996, tracking their perilous migration to the west
coast of Africa, to the successful breeding of ospreys in England and
the establishment of a breeding colony at Rutland Water.
As usual, you can download it for yourself at my Internet Archive page.

I just saw and photographed my first Osprey nest with (3) fledglings in Sacramento California. It was an amazing experience and I’m so grateful to the conservation teams that make this possible in many cases.
