As a lad in the 50's, Turtle Doves were a common bird with us in Cambridgeshire. Finding their tiny, spindly nests, all over the place. Tragic shooting in places like Malta with shot guns finally took their toll!!
Hey Cookie, I think it was a Thylacine mate. I know that they aren't usually white and it was a bit longer than usual, and it was in a weird place, and it didn't have the hind leg thing going on... But I'm convinced.
Nice to see another video mate, its been a while since ones popped into my recommended so its good to see the channels still going strong with Animal Anomolies
I saw my first few in five years in Essex on a reserve called fingringhoe- we counted about 6 and it was their unique call that allowed us to locate them. The sound was recognisable and I told my dad that I've definitely heard the sound before in France- turns out I was right and when I returned to France I managed to find a whole family of them. Great trip so many new species of birds, mammals and reptiles. I've been to that area so many times yet I get something new every time I go back.. also we went to the pyrenees which got me three species of vultures. Edit- Turtle doves nest low in bushes or on the ground which can make them really hard to see even when you hear them- its what makes them such a joy to search for.
If this is Norfolk, then it's definitely not a mink. They were recently completely eradicated by Dr. Tony Martin. This was confirmed last year, so the likelihood of this being an albino is even more unlikely.
In the last 7 years I have only seen two turtle dove .when I was a boy they were quite common in Norfolk. I'm now 75 years old. They are such a beautiful little bird .I Would hate them to go extinct.
I had no idea that they were over here at all. Are they related to the (defunct) passenger pigeon? Good luck with the jays, a few down here in the south.
If you go searching, try looking in meadows near agricultural areas- they seem to like that sort of habitat and you could get lucky with red backed shrikes as well.
@@Revelationscreation Nice thank you, Red-backed Shrikes are also on my list for next year, I already saw one once, but couldnt film it, I took a few photos though
I’m going to say Australia’s east coast has so many of these turtle neck doves that you can’t count them. Along with bronze wing, top notch are everywhere.
Cookie grate video once again I may have a story you might be interested in what are your thoughts on big cats in the uk I think I might be able to help you find one get in touch 👍
Great video as always,Cookie. I know exotics brought in b global warming are not always the best, but I'd love to see how our coastal marine life is changing and seeing what exotic fishes are setting up home here. My cousin went to the Levant coasts off Israel and saw evidence of Lessepsian migrants from the Red Sea to the eastern Mediterranean now it's becoming increasingly tropical and may host coral reefs. Soon?
Hope we all enjoy
Oh my gosh, Your excitement is so infectious,, WTG Cookie did it again,, Awesome vid

White Mink. No ferret or polecat move that quick

Nice to hear Katie's voice, didn't know if she was still involved.
She’ll feature more going forward, we’re restarting the vlog stuff for when we hit NZ
Great video very entertaining. You have determination that's what I like to see don't give up, and in the end you did receive. 👍
I saw one in 2020, right at the start of their season. I was told by a seasoned birder I was lying. Nice gent.
😂😂😂
So sad about our British birds, we lose some like the Turtle Dove and we gain some like the White Stork and White-tailed Sea Eagle.
14:40 I think that’s actually a pied wagtail

Kitty mascot stealing the show 😍 great video
The Gentle Bands look legitimately cool.
So sad. It’s likely their traditional resting and feeding locations on their migratory route have been destroyed.
Loads in Cumbria
Nice, this bird is on my list for next year too, we got them here in Germany, but I never saw one before

We’re seeing some quite strange birds popping up recently, be interesting to see what marine life comes our way, maybe more turtles?
Can't wait for this!
