Lenny Kravitz is the son of Roxy Roker who was on the Jefferson's TV Show from the 70s and 80s.. My Ex-Bandmate was the son of Marla Gibbs, Florence the Maid on the Jeffersons so I used to hear about Lenny every now and then and I met Marla on the set of her show 227 back in the 90s..

He said it took him two weeks, then he went back into the house and presented the tape to his mom. A hell of a guitar player, Craig Ross... the 3 first Lenny Kravitz albums are fire.
And, by the way, Kravitz played almost everything on those albums. His obsession with older recording technology was crucial too, in order to make these recordings sound so organic, raw, alive... those things that are lost completely in todays rock productions

@@N1NJAKIDD Not according to the way the performance credits are given. Craig Ross takes the guitar parts on tracks 1 and 2, then Lenny starts coming in heavy, as follows-

As mentioned, he is the son of late actress, Rory Roker, who played Helen Willis on the Jeffersons. Lenny was also 1st married to actress Lisa Binet, of the Cos y show & A Different World. He is also a pretty natural actor, which you could see from his role in the hard movie, Precious. The drummer, Cindy Blackman is a friend, an respected accomplished jazz artist, & is now married to Carlos Santana. Wow, life is amazing! You are too funny wit that fan, & swooning hot flash reaction. 🤪 Priceless!

My favorite male artist ALL TIME!!! I saw him live five times, but the best was in Sydney, Australia in 1994... INCREDIBLE!!! His voice live is the same as recorded. BTW, he's in the Hunger Games movies too... Plus his daughter is Zoe Kravitz who has been is several movies. To top it off, his mother was on 'The Jefferson's' sitcom in the 1980's and got the role bc she was already married to a white guy... Lenny's dad. Good Stuff...

To my mind and ears, Lenny is a psychedelic "revivalist." Dig that guitar with the phasing -- memories. That guitar solo (courtesy of Craig Ross) and that bassline are knock-outs! I've always liked that back and forth on the guitar pickups (ala Pete Townsend early days with The Who). Kick on the strobes and get into free-form dance mode - like we did in the 1960s.
This is seriously good cover of the Tom Jones song. And the drummer in this video is married to Carlos Santana.
I saw him live in the summer of 96 at a music festival that also had The Violent Femmes and Jewel before anyone knew she was.

He was married to Lisa Bonet (the Cosby show) 1987-93 and they had kids together, including actress Zoe Kravitz. (Now Lisa is married to Jason Momoa and they have kids together. )
His mother was Roxie Roker- she played Helen Willis, the neighbor on The Jeffersons who was (ironically) married to a white man, since in real life her husband- Lenny’s father-was her Jewish manager. (She’s also second cousins with Al Roker.)

I love LZ and pretty much everything they did, my favorite album seems to be many peoples least favorite and that is Presence, I have read it was recorded in like two weeks and I love that raw quality. When I first heard it 8 tracks were still happening, but at least we had electricity! BTW lately I've been on a "Band Of Skulls" kick, ever heard of them? Some of their stuff has a morsel of Zeppelin in it.
