I watched the Video and wondered about the Schraders. It gives the impression that they are good people. I see it completely differently. Hank is an absolute a*hole. Privately and in his job. Both Schraders are extremely condescending and unsympathetic. In the end, they don't take the children out of good intentions but rather out of revenge and because they don't have children of their own. They didn't commit crimes but they are only slightly better than Heisenberg. Hank has a soul? I highly doubt that!
That’s straight up bull****…..Hank was a hero and Jesse was a murderer and a drug dealer. Unlike, say, SOA, Ozark, etc, where everyone is corrupt l….there are heroes in BB universe,….basically good people trying to do the right thing…..in fact the BB universe is not a dystopia.
@@damienthorne9328 I see it the same way almost. There were several scene in BB were it was shown that hank is not really doing it out of heroism, but more for prestige. I mean he even attacked Steven gomez slightly now and then.
The Schraders are *hardly* the moral compass of the show. There is no moral compass there. The show pretty explicitly points out that the line between right and wrong is very blurry and choices seemingly reasonable in the context they're made in can pile up to convert an innocent, likable and weak nerd into an egotistic and violent crime lord.
@@dittohead7044 nah that’s more like Jesse. Hank literally couldn’t care less if walt killed Jesse and when talking to skyler instead of helping her he was just giving her the generic interrogation. Walter was a snake who used Jesse for his benefit. He still cares for Jesse obviously but he has done terrible things to him. Walter literally poised a child. Not to mention I never said Jesse had a moral compass I just said it was straighter than hanks. Which is true. Hank literally did not give a shit about skyler when trying to “help” her. Hank was not a good guy. Just on the side of the law. “He’s the one that should’ve gotten 86 years” Oh yes after trying to help catch walt and bring him to justice then becoming a meth slave for the nazi’s then having to watch Andrea die. Yeah the character the arguably suffers the most in breaking bad deserves that ending. Just saying Walt Jesse and Jimmy should all be in jail for their actions. Jesse was given a chance to become a new person and leave everything behind and he took. Jimmy got the same opportunity and fell back to his old ways.
No kidding. Hank Schrader was quite racist....and the show is so brilliantly written that a lot of people that share Hanks views on the world probably didn't care about his constant racist jokes.
The whole Saul thing with the sentence comes out like this. Gene was a coward. He got caught. Saul was a winner, and he won with that plea deal. Jimmy in the end showed he really wasn’t the scam artist he has played all his life.
Id like to see a short series on this. Few episodes is all that would be needed. Would answer our questions about how they all managed to pick up the pieces
Maybe Saul will survive prison or gain early freedom when the events of the walking dead arrive and the walkers invading the human world would make Saul rethink of humanity in general
Well considering the point in time Better Call Saul ends. The walking dead’s timeline has already begun. I would be impressed if he could get an 86 year sentence to a month. I realize you also could be joking. I am laying in bed with nothing to do so thank you
Saul was actually in the same prison as season 4 of TWD. Jimmy fled in a helicopter and is now the leader of a large community, along with his queen: Kim. ps: Marie lives
But they came so very close to winning. SO close. Had they just left the scene immediately with Walt, maybe they would have made it to town before something like that could happen. Yeah, the Schraders may have been set up as a contrast to the Whites, but that didn’t make them lovable. Hank was a huge blowhard from jump, and Marie was annoying as hell.
There were no heroes in this world, just people. People acting like they are doing "the right thing" even when doing immoral actions to do "the right thing." That's what makes the franchise so damn good.
And true heroes get away. Walt dies his own terms and his family's financial situation is secured. jesse gets money and escapes Alaska. In thinking of in a certain way, saul is theirs fall guy.
Hank should have just let it go, Walt would have eventually been caught or killed. Hank was already implicit, tough situation to be sure. Maybe Hank could have persuaded Walt to retire from the business, and they all live their lives as legit business owners. Walt had more than enough money.
Saul's change of mind is pretty clear to me but it's just an interpretation of course. I think it's because Kim who just like him used to make everything to avoid consequences finally talked to howard's wife and decided to face them. Saul realized it when he was told he couldn't use the information because Kim already gave it that he changed his mind and found a new plan. And it's not Vince's style to put fate in his stories so I really don't think it's this option
Great acting & writing.... Just me but I never liked Hank or his wife. Like when Walter was sick and timid, before his change. He said good supportive things and offered to help but it seemed more like someone doing it out of an obligation or what he's expected to do more than out of actual caring. Besides that everything about Hank made my fucking skin crawl. He's a great cop but it's because he gets off on it, justice is an excuse. I know that's a gross simplification but fuck it. Been around criminals & cops my whole life and I know real charisma. It doesn't need to work to be there, it just is by its own nature. Hank comes off as trying too hard to be the loudest voice in control of the room when not on the job.
Do you think that was the point? His character was rude, crude, crass, etc. But he did care about the damage meth was doing to the community. He wasn’t my favorite character either
Would be interesting to start a story with Holly (who grows up to be hot), as a teenager, who just lost her stupid mother and brother to some rando sent by Fring Junior who shot them dead. Holly wasn't there that day, but miraculously, Walt Junior got himself a girlfriend and she was shot dead in Holly's place. Holly then goes to live with her estranged aunt, who insists on calling her "Esmeralda." While Holly has no idea of her family's history, Marie, who's great at spinning a yarn, fills the girl's head with a bunch of bs stories. However, Marie suspects that the White family murders were possibly related to Walt's connections and is concerned for Holly's safety. She enlists the help of her husband's former department and ends up working closely with, Eduardo, a super hot younger Latino man. Things heat up between Eduardo and Marie. Eduardo's sexy younger female partner, Kaylee Ehrmantraut, is a serious young cop and is disapproving. Holly, a smart and active youngster, starts to discover some intriguing information about her father. She starts following leads while her aunt is distracted with Eduardo. Meanwhile, Pinkman's mother, Diane, dies, so Jesse returns for her funeral. Alaska was a bust and he's completely broke. His dad, Adam, rubs his nose in it, but invites him to stay at the house anyway. He catches up with his younger brother, Jake, who has grown up to be hot. Jake seems to be doing things right and appears to be successful. At the funeral, Jesse, while standing with his brother and father, is being suveilled by an unknown vigil. Jesse is later angered to learn that Jake is involved in illicit activities and is not the successful entrepreneur that he is masquerading as. Jake flirts with danger as he builds alliances in his local community and engages in philanthropic donations to worthy causes, Gus Fring-style, but smaller in scale. He builds a relationship with local law enforcement and is particularly charming with Kaylee. This is noticable to Kaylee's colleagues, and they tease her that if she wasn't a member of their force they'd be poorer for it. But, Kaylee's a hard nut to crack and does not reciprocate Jake's advances. Jake reads people well and he was sure of this. But, so long as tongues are wagging about his unrequited love for Kaylee, his true motives for building a relationship with the blue will go unchecked. Holly learns to drive and gets her driver's license, as well as a summer job. She starts working for Jake. She thinks that Jake is hot. However, Jake could care less because she's too young and is not useful to him. While still continuing to follow leads about her family, she finds any excuse to be around Jake. As she brings Jake a paper that needs signing, the unknown vigil is watching.
Small correction - Marie and Hank were not high school sweethearts. Marie was born in 1973, and Hank in '66, meaning they were 7 years apart, and their time in HS would likely not have even overlapped. They likely met and started dating once Marie was a few years out of High School, and Skyler (the elder sister by 3 years) was already involved with Walter. The fact that Hank and Marie got married *after* Walt and Skyler (mentioned in the second minisode) also supports this
Completely forgivable mistake. You did your homework and a great job presenting what you learned. I really think this would be hard to do!! Sometimes the information you get on YT is not always accurate, so that cannot be blamed on you. I honestly believe you did a good job. I, personally, appreciate your hard work. What gets me is how hank acts like this arrogant self-righteous action hero. He was just mad that he looked down on the weak, timid, nerd Walter White. Yet it was Walter White that made a fool out of him. There's reason people remember Pablo Escobars name and not the guys who caught him. One built an empire, the others were just collecting a paycheck and a promotion.
@@technology5979 exactly , Hank might be an ass to people who are not familiar with the law enforcement or military life style . But Hank genuinely liked Walt . Hank was the one who stood by Walt when Skyler split . So yes Hank was upset and felt betrayed by Walt.
Well, now, that is an interesting way to look at things. I think Hank put on an act that he was an arrogant action-hero so folks won't see he feels emotionally weak after being shot and almost losing his life. Then you discover that you may not walk again. A whole lot to handle. Add a man's head on a turtle. You cannot compare a murdering drug-dealer to an upstanding DEA Agent. I mean, you just an't. Hank = good guy.
I think it would've been a good idea to have marie be pregnant after his death, just so marie wasn't completely alone and the only person in the Schrader family
moral compass? pretty twisted one at that. he was a cop. he abused his authority, and he abused the people he interacted with on a regular basis. the only diffrence is hank did evil that is accepted by law, walt did not.
I disagree. Hank was a punk a$$ bully cop. He justified violence against whom ever he felt deserved it. Broke the law with the illigal cigars, yet attempted to persecute others for their guilty pleasures. Marie was a criminal theif. Who hid behind her cop husband to escape the consequences of her crimes. Then got all high and mighty against her sister for her devious misfortunes. The would is a much better place without that couple....
Hank had his bright spots but he was a casual yet virulent bigot, had little regard for people's constitutional rights, was so soaked in toxic behaviors that he refused to acknowledge his own PTSD which put everyone around him at risk, he was dishonest, and he was obsessive about his job to a degree that commonly gets innocent people locked in cages for years, he was not a good guy - he was a different kind of bad guy with some redeeming qualities. The problem is even his redeeming qualities could be nothing more than social standards he was upholding and not something he felt. Saul also had nothing to do with Hanks murder, how could he give her anything? That ending was horrible and retroactively knocks the the whole series down a few pegs just like the end of BB makes that whole series feel better than it was. Jimmy was flawed but he was a decent person yet he ends up in a cage for the rest of his life. Just incredibly bad end that I can only assume stems from this outdated and idiotic idea that prison has anything to do with reform or justice. It's a dying morality, the kind that automatically makes people a "bad guy" by virtue of them having broken the law regardless of the reason or if any damages stem from it. Senior citizens might still largely lean this way but most people I know don't so it was kinda baffling to see that play out as it did. Depressing all around, no one wins and everyone kinda lost.
Jimmy was a decent person and then he became an immoral scumbag named Saul Goodman. Prison is to keep the bad guys away from everyone else. Quit patting yourself on the back like you have some divine morality or your two steps higher on the evolutionary scale then everybody else
Yes. You get it. The show acts as though the Milgram study doesn't exist. It aims low...the show's star, Bryan Cranston, is so fucking stupid he thinks Hank is the moral center of the show. Americans are raised utterly without philosophy, by Prussian-model government schools, and it shows.
At first I really thought Walt was a good guy. Cause let’s be honest, the United States was founded upon freedom and independence, the people who are buying his drugs are making their choice it’s not like it’s his fault. But after a while especially season 5, Walter wasn’t Walter anymore, he became Heisenberg. By the way I hate that Hank was so obsessed with finding the crimelord that was worth beating up your close brother in law. Yes he’s breaking the law and you’ll have to stop him, but suddenly he went from loving him to hating him just like that. It’s why I don’t really like Schrader.
Hank's "ingenious police work" led directly to his death that would have gone totally unsolved without Walt and Saul. What are you on and where can I get some?
I was never a fan of the Schraders. You mistake "soul" for indignant self-righteousness. Neither one of them had a good moral compass, and Hank was a downright abusive bully....to his wife, to his colleagues, to his brother in law, to Jessie.....and likewise, when the going got tough, he was a coward. Marie,....don't even get me started, but too late.....she was way more interested in the morals of others than of her own.

Hank was an egotistical jerk. Marie was a narcissist who lorded over Skylar constantly reminding her she was second in the standings and married a loser, she prided herself on the pain of others. They gave Walter a majority of the push to turn to the darkside. They were NOT good people in any way. They deserved to be played for the fools they were.
Hank acting like a jerk in the 1st season was a self defense mechanism. He's afraid of showing his feelings to others. Hank worked in a profession where everyone has to be "macho" in order to fit in. Its obvious that Hank is faking the tough guy act as in later episodes he becomes a lot more grounded as a character. As for Marie, she is arrogant and a hypocrite but she likely has OCD which causes her irratic behavior. Both characters have their faults, but that's what makes them relatable and likeable characters. That's how you write good and compelling characters.
In real life hanks career would have ended when he beat jesse. Feds dont put up with jack booted thugs. He would have gone to prison where he belonged even without jesse pressing charges. Hank got off way too easy, his should have had to spend time in the cage that jesse was kept in
I thought it was fairly obvious why in the series finale Saul finally admits to all his crimes. It went like this: - Saul cuts himself a sweetheart 7-year deal because he correctly convinces the U.S. Attorney that all he needs is one juror to believe his bleeding heart story ("I did what I did because I had the cartel's gun to my head"). - While awaiting sentencing Saul's co-counsel says words to the effect that "Kim apparently confessed to causing the death of Howard Hamlin. Because there were no witnesses or evidence to confirm any aspect of what Kim had confessed to, the DA let her 'leave the building' and not intending to prosecute. However, for reasons unknown but maybe new evidence the DA is now taking a second look at going after Kim." - Because Jimmy still loves Kim, on hearing the above, he decides to do the chivalrous thing, save Kim from any action prosecutors might take. He does this by changing his testimony. Where before he too was a victim of Walter White, in open court he now admits that the "I'm a victim too" story was a lie. - In court, to make his change of testimony convincing he decides to paint himself as a criminal mastermind, fully aware his 7-year deal will now be 86 years in prison. He confesses that he manipulated Walter White, it was not the other way around. And as to Howard Hamlin, that was his idea, his plan, his revenge. Kim Wexler didn't have anything to do with it. After his full confession in open court, Jimmy looks to the back of the gallery where Kim is seated. He throws her a loving glance, Kim acknowledges it approvingly and thankful, because she knows why Jimmy confessed as he did. And now you know the rest of the story.

True but he and Gomey are the real heroes of the series
@@dittohead7044 nah that’s more like Jesse. Hank literally couldn’t care less if walt killed Jesse and when talking to skyler instead of helping her he was just giving her the generic interrogation. He literally didn’t care about anything except capturing walt. Jesse has a straighter moral compass then Hank.
@@randomahnameisthename3147 Jesse had a moral compass? Where was that moral compass when he executed Gail? How about when he tried to get the innocent girl at the gas station to try the blue stuff. Or when he tried to sell to the addicts at the NA meetings? He was a sniveling murderer and rat. Can't believe they gave him a nice happy ending in Alaska. He's the one that should've got 86 years.
@@gregwilliams3120 gail was a drug dealer and even then Jesse felt incredibly guilty when he did kill him. Passing the blue meth to the girl was terrible of him to do no excuses. It was also terrible he tried to sell drugs to people trying to better themselves. “Sniveling murderer and rat” Jesse has 5 kills in the entire series 4 of which are self defense. Rat? Really?

Now will Marie and Blanka ever just let Jesse go? Will there be more to Jesses story?
Will we ever find out what Gus did in Chile ?
The word hot is used too much , is this a porno or 50 shades sort of story 😜
Small correction - Marie and Hank were not high school sweethearts. Marie was born in 1973, and Hank in '66, meaning they were 7 years apart, and their time in HS would likely not have even overlapped. They likely met and started dating once Marie was a few years out of High School, and Skyler (the elder sister by 3 years) was already involved with Walter. The fact that Hank and Marie got married *after* Walt and Skyler (mentioned in the second minisode) also supports this
Besides, Marie was kind of a stoner back in college. That doesn't scream "in a committed relationship" to me.
Completely forgivable mistake.

I don't know, I really see that Hank was much more pissed off by the betrayal of someone he liked and cared for.

Saul Goodman would never have given up like he did.
Agreed! 👍
Hank got what he deserved- a burial. Walt got what he deserved- not dying as mere chemistry teacher.
What is a single "abusive" thing hank did. Can you name even one thing? I doubt it.

I thought it was fairly obvious why in the series finale Saul finally admits to all his crimes. It went like this:
- Saul cuts himself a sweetheart 7-year deal because he correctly convinces the U.S.
However, for reasons unknown but maybe new evidence the DA is now taking a second look at going after Kim."
- Because Jimmy still loves Kim, on hearing the above, he decides to do the chivalrous thing, save Kim from any action prosecutors might take.

@@robertlawrence4719 the police and military is littered with white supremacists. Great example.
i dont think anyone adored season 1 hank
I always thought it was Hank and Skylar who were the siblings. Trip out huh? 😝. It gives the show a different spin. My ex boyfriend loved this show and he told me no Marie the purple chick is her sister. I said yeah sister in law. He is like Nooo. 😝. I get it now of course, but I low key still think Hank could’ve been Sky’s brother. I guess that’s what I get for tuning into a show like 8 episodes into the 1st season. I honestly didn’t like it much and stopped watching it. Then on a restart I realized I was missing out
Young Gus spinoff please.
Saul changes his mind to save Kim. Kim was not just an accomplice she was his wife and one of the main characters in Better call saul . Saul changed his mind because to get his deal he would have to implicate Kim his ex wife. Poorly researched video .
He had his deal, and his crimes were in the bb era when the two are divorced. He only falsely implicated her when he knew he was going to throw away his deal. Poorly researched comment.
I will never not love Walt, Saul, Mike, and Jesse. Screw the Schrader"s...and Skyler too!
Walt turns to pure evil. Mike isn’t much better but mike, Saul and Jesse are all lovable in their own right but Walt turns into a psychotic maniac by the end
i just wanna point out there was no schrader family.
they had no children.
so all that happened is one more widow.
A husband and wife equals a family.
@@steveconn
nah, a husband and a wife are a couple, not a family. once they have(or adopt) a child, they form a family.

Marie was a truly awful person. Self-righteous, shrill, vindictive, hypocritical.
She was the hipster Karen, loooong before Karen's even existed...
@@jintermont Accurate. A superficial hipster on the surface, but with no deeply-held principles of any kind. Like the morons who voted for the current president, or the one before him.
The Schraders are totalitarian scum who stand against the Lockean property rights that once made America the wealthiest and happiest nation on Earth. In order to wage a misguided war on private property, Hank is a bully, and an extortionist...who sets innocent people against each other. ...Under threat of stealing everything they own, and utterly ruining their hopes and dreams.
Happiness is being able to afford stem cell treatment that saves your child's life, and allows a happy family to exist. (The precursor to the FDA closed off that path in 1906.) Unhappiness is poverty...third world status. Lack of saved wealth. (Asset forfeiture laws...your life savings goes to police who destroy value...produce nothing...) Unhappiness is seeing your daughter forced into prostitution in an impoverished nation where she doesn't get a choice...and can't go to the police because prostitution is "prohibited." Why didn't she get an education? Because the government took over education, and the parents couldn't afford a private education _in_ _addition_ _to_ the shoddy one their taxes pay for. Remember when Hank bullies the prostitute Wendy? He bullies her to show his own dumb nephew the difference between institution-connected "haves" and institution-targeted "have nots." Remember when he talks about marijuana legalization with Walt? He assumes his conclusion. ...And there are no economists in the room to correct him.
These shows show how rights-violating institutions (DEA, ONDCP, bar-licensing) create winners and losers by violating individual rights. ...And most people are oblivious.

Steve and Hank were heroes. They just broke the one rule with Walter White-nobody crosses him without consequences.
30 years and he never learned Spanish?
Hank died
What family?
what happened to hank?........WORMS
Hank rose from the dead .
