I'm not surprised at all. We all know that Colin got black balled. If you think it was warranted or not doesn't matter. The NFL couldn't loose this case in court, and they obviously had no intention of taking this to court, and with the sum of the settlement being undisclosed and probably agreed to be kept a secret, I would guess that it amount's to something in the vicinity of what he could have expected to make throughout the rest of his playing career if he hadn't ever left.
maybe even a little more then that.
Not to mention, he already got the Nike deal. Collin has gotten what he wants out of this, recognition and money. I don't doubt that he had only good intentions when he started, but try to tell me that you wouldn't let this kind of lawsuit go if the NFL offers you a settlement that I don't doubt is in the realm of 100-150 million dollars.

And for the NFL 100mill to get Kaepernick to agree to sign a contract that says he can't talk publicly about the case seems like a no brainier business choice to me.
And although Skip says he could try to play again, I'd bet my life there is a clause in there preventing him form ever suing the NFL again, and him agreeing to never play for them again or attempt to sign with a team.

Why is Kap and Reid settling considered selling out? They sued the NFL because the NFL colluded against them, not for the right to kneel or anything else.

Some people try to argue that Kaepernick is a horrible QB. Not according to statistics and accomplishments.
He ranks in the top-20 all-time in three separate efficiency statistics, and top-5 in one!
At the end of 2016, among QB’s with 1,500+ pass attempts he was ranked #12 among active QB’s in passer rating, and top-17 all-time - ahead of names like Marino, Favre and Luck.
He is also second all-time in interception rate...SECOND ALL-TIME!
Yeah, where’s Brock Osweiler? Where’s Andrew “Interception” Luck?!
In 2012 he led his team to the Super Bowl. They lost that Super Bowl to the Ravens on bad officiating.
In 2013, he nearly led the team back to the Super Bowl, losing to eventual Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks in the NFC championship game on an interception by Richard Sherman of the LoB.
There’s no question in my mind that S.F. would also have beaten the Denver Broncos had they managed to beat Seattle.
Btw, that Seahawks win was at the CLink field in Seattle! So the 49ers barely lost the 2013 NFC title game on the road, in the most hostile environment in the NFL, to one of the best defenses in league history, on a play in which arguably the best CB saved Seattle’s hopes.
2014 was a down year, but the 49ers were still dangerous. Kaepernick was widely regarded as a top-10 QB in both 2014 and 2015, and ranked in the top-100 players for three years in a row.
The consensus top QB’s were as follows:
    Brady
    Manning (due to past achievements)
    Rodgers
    Rothlisberger
    Brees
    Wilson
    Luck
    KAEPERNICK
    Rivers
Romo, Flacco, E. Manning, Newton, Ryan and the other vets were slightly less highly regarded.
Kaepernick spent at least three seasons grouped as one of the top young QB’s in the league, along with Luck and Wilson, and ahead of the likes of Newton, Stafford, Cousins, Dalton, Carr, and RG3, Tannehill, and others.
In 2015, Kaepernick was still considered to be a top-10 QB, and got injured. It was a down year.
    Let’s talk about 2016:
In 2016, Kaepernick started 11 games, threw for 2,200 yards, 16 TD’s and just 4 Int’s, for a 90.7 passer rating - ranked among the top QB’s - and a 4:1 TD-Int ratio. That ratio was good for 6th in the league!
    The other six QB’s?
Brady, Rodgers, Brees, Ryan, Carr, and Prescott!
On that list were five 2016 MVP candidates (including 4 Hall-of-Fame locks), and the 2016 Offensive Rookie of the Year (Prescott, who was also an MVP candidate).
Those are the only QB’s who protected the ball better than did Kaepernick; yet people are floating this narrative that he’s no good. It’s complete bullsh^t!
Russell Wilson, one of the most efficient QB’s in league history, was injured and was NOT in the top-6, and neither were Rothlisberger or Rivers.
    Now, here’s the good part:
Kaepernick’s coach, Chip Kelly, was so bad that he and his entire staff were fired after that one season!
Kaepernick had no O-Line, no running game, no receivers, and no D to keep the offense on the field.
Yet, Kaepernick achieved the equivalent of 3,000 yards passing, 21 TD’s and 5 Int’s, if you roll up his stats to 16 games.
He also rushed for over 300 yards in those 11 games, so you could probably add on another 200 if he had played a full season.
Yes, bonehead Chip Kelly started Blaine Gabbert for the first five games, and he lost all five games!
But Kaepernick, who was still reeling from injuries, took his spot back and was one of the most efficient QB’s in the league.
The team had been completely gutted. There was no Frank Gore or Michael Crabtree.
Mind you, not only was Kaepernick coming off of injuries in 2016, he was receiving death threats daily! He performed admirably during that season.
People argue that he isn’t a good enough QB,” but his stats and accomplishments would put him no worse than top-15 if he was starting in the league today. He certainly would be a top-20 starter.
The league has landed some excellent QB talent over the last three seasons (Mahommes, Goff, Wentz, Watson, Prescott, Trubisky, etc.), and the fact that Kaepernick would even be top-20 - and stats say he would - says a lot about him.
As for him being “a cancer,” the 49ers in 2016 gave him with the team’s Citizenship Award. That was the year he opted out of his contract. No 49ers player spoke ill of him, and no coach did either.
If you want to argue against the kneeling we can have that conversation, but stop with the bullsh*t about how terrible Kaepernick is.
    He is anything but...

I’m proud and excited for his well being and family, now that he has one, what about the people that stood behind him? Will they receive a victory as well or will we continue to ignore the problem that may resurface tomorrow or 100 years from now. We can’t keep letting these big guys off, if only people knew just how horrific and egregious it gets when we’re talking about what’s happening in the dark; and what I’m alluding to is Beyond race and entertainment. Again I love all of this, but man it’s heart breaking that many people aren’t aware of who and how many are being affected do to byproduct situations that occurred from this vary people. I have no judgement on his thoughts or intentions, because the only person that knows them are him. I don’t think anyone’s opinionated perception can change or define the outcome of the situation, however I do think we the people can at least search and demand the truth. Kap is living his life, no one man decides for a collective although one man can aid a collective. This situation was something beyond race and societies relative reasoning. It’s not a loss, it was just an opportunity to help accelerate this change of unconditioning our logic as a collective. I don’t want to negate the truth in what happened. Kap won big and such a win could easily be respected because essentially it’s his trial and tribulation in his experience, his personal life. I was just a bit thrown off because this was an opportunity to bring light to the society that owns the NFL. I’m an optimistic person so I can definitely see the possibility in this outcome raising alarms in many heads that will evoke questioning from the collective. At that point, curiosity will bring a satisfactory victory to the people that stood behind him by relating his situation with their personal experiences.

Shannon Sharpe showed his true colors in this segment today. Kaepernick is a sellout no way to sugarcoat and get around it. Was the stance originally to get paid or for the issue? If it was all about the issue he would've never took the settlement. Notice Shannon took the question off Kaepernick and put it on the NFL. He was also very jokey about the matter and he's usually all serious about social issues like these.

Even if you pay him starter money to be a backup, he is gonna attract so much media attention that is totally unnecessary and a distraction. If I’m a coach or owner, my backup qb should be rarely seen and never heard. I don’t care about his politics but if it’s a distraction and he’s not gonna make my team that much better.
