- The NBA reacted to the results of the Derek Chauvin trial like the rest of the world yesterday, as the former Minneapolis police officer was found guilty for his role in the death of George Floyd last May. While many players and coaches like Kyrie Irving & Stan Van Gundy used their platform yesterday to applaud the verdict and push for further actions against social injustice in our country, Los Angeles Lakers' LeBron James had one simple tweet that started trending online, writing only 'ACCOUNTABILITY.' For me, Shannon's comments always encapsulate situations fairly, accurately, openly, and honestly. The best presenter across all sports platforms for me.
Officer's knee wasn't on his neck and he had triple the amount of lethal dose of fentanyl in his system. No damage to his trachea or surrounding arteries. The coroner who did the autopsy said that if Floyd were to have been found dead the cause would have immediately been deemed an overdose. The poor officer was tried by the court of public opinion and the legal system let down the American people.

Dr. Martin Tobin, a pulmonologist and critical care specialist of Loyola University Medical Center, also testified during Chauvin's trial that Floyd died of a lack of oxygen from being pinned to the pavement with a knee on his neck. He added, “A healthy person subjected to what Mr. Floyd was subjected to would have died." While findings from Floyd's autopsy revealed 11 nanograms per milliliter of fentanyl in his blood, medical experts called as prosecution witnesses agreed the amount of fentanyl was not enough to be considered fatal. Dr. Daniel Isenschmid, a forensic toxicologist at NMS Labs in Pennsylvania, testified and presented data showing the levels of methamphetamine found in Floyd's system were lower than the average amount found in 94% of DUI cases in 2020. Cardiologist Jonathan Rich told the court: "I can state with a high degree of medical certainty that George Floyd did not die from a primary cardiac event, and he did not die from a drug overdose."

Yes, equal protection under the Law should be ‘a given’ not the exception to the Rule of Law. It was Justice for the jury to find the guilt in this case, we all saw it.

Unfortunately, he will probably only be in prison for around 10-12 years. The sentencing is much more lenient because he does not have a record.
I just told my friend yesterday he deserves 40, but likely will only get 15---while likely only serving 10 max of that. Just the way this system unfortunately works.

Loved this, the chain of events from Colin, to BLM, to the riots, to the guilty verdict ... as I've said a thousand times, some of the good results are a result of the necessary crucible of events that came before.
"Blue live matter" is a crazy phrase. Look, the police have a tough and difficult job. NO doubt about that. But let's not pretend and act like they aren't praised and viewed as heroes. Let's not pretend their job qualifications are demanding. Let's not pretend like they don't get constant support from the people. Let's not pretend that we know most of them are good. Let's not pretend that the laws HEAVILY favor them in their wrong doing. Let's not pretend they don't have immunity and a system that tends to protect them. Let's not pretend that they didn't enjoy years of truth bias when bodycam wasn't a thing.
Blue lives have always mattered. And they mattered more than the common people. Let's not pretend like they were oppressed lol. Being a police is incredibly hard. But that comes with incredible privileges

Brees became a sellout a few years ago when he took back his comments on the national anthem. He meant what he originally said and I stand with him. You want to protest do it on your own time not company time not fan time. I can’t go to work holding up protest signs you don’t get to either. Brees you should NEVER of apologized.
